I doubt it, but it is a lot cheaper to film there.

The cast filmed: Ainsley Melham (Aladdin), Trevor Dion Nicholas (Genie), Isabelle McCalla (Jasmine), Jonathan Freeman (Jafar), Don Daryll Rivera (Iago), Irvine Iqbal (Sultan), Brian Gonzales (Babkak), and Brandon O'Neill (Kassim).
John Adams said: "Kad said: "qolbinau said: "Would Bernadette Peters be as big a star as she is if it weren't for the filmings of Sunday and Into the Woods? I doubt it.”
Peters was already a Golden Globe-winning star, and had appeared in ten movies and countless television episodes by that time."
...including her numerous appearances on talk and variety shows (especially the Carol Burnett Show) long before "Sunday..." or "...Woods"."
Yes but does anyone today really care about her (mostly) flop film career or television appearances? I could be wrong but I get a sense Bernadette's market today is primarily theatre fans (and she is usually marketed and described mostly for her theatre performances, maybe adding in the Jerk or Pennies From Heaven). And my claim is that the Sunday & (especially) Into the Woods filmings have kept this alive. But I could be wrong of course.

I wonder if they'll block distribution in the U.S.
