Now THIS is an announcement to be Excited about!
I haven’t felt this type of electricity upon reading a surprise announcement of a production in some time. Having seen the original production, this is a piece that could only grow richer with those two in the leading roles. Revival of a Play and Lead Actor and Actress in a Play categories just got raised to a whole new level.

Laura Linney, Eileen Atkins, Laurie Metcalf, Mary Louise squared, Marissa Tomei, and Debra Messing. Sounds to me that Faye Dunaway knew exactly what she was doing by staging that theatrical off-stage meltdown to get out of that category.

Wow. I think it's my favorite play of the last 25 years, and I have such amazing memories of the original cast at the Vineyard. I wonder if Johanna Day will join them?

I couldn't look at Butz for awhile after that show.

Parker created the role, and to critical acclaim. It is usually her that serves as the measuring stick for those who followed, including Ms. Reaser.

OK, remind me: I saw this show in its last legs in the original production, I don’t remember who closed that production, I just remember being disappointed in it after I had heard such great things about the play for so long. I thought then that maybe it was only great with its original stars. Were the roles any age? I don’t remember. Could actors 25 years later play this play? Maybe I should give it another chance with these original stars.

It's a memory play, so while MLP is playing a 15-18 year old through most of it, Li'l Bit is technically at least 40 while looking back IIRC. I don't think at least MLP could age out of it, maybe David Morse, but even then Peck is still not young so they are probably still perfect for the roles.

As I didn't see the original, Reaser will be my measuring stick.

Anyone know if 30 Under 35 tickets have been released for this yet? I keep checking my email but want to make sure I haven't missed anything.

Those of you who have visited the Samuel J. Friedman theater, how bad (or good) are the rear mezzanine seats that are currently being sold for $69? Are the seats very far? Any obstruction? I'm not concerned with the leg room as long as the view is ok. View from my seat has only a few pictures.

It looks like How I Learned To Drive sells really well (unless they hold back tickets) and I don't want to rely on digital rush which is so difficult to get.

There is not a bad seat in that little theater, IMHO.

Yeah I've sat all over that theater and never had any "partial view" issues. It's a great theater. Rear Mezz is far away, but it's not a huge space, so I think you'll be fine.

Were you able to buy tickets successfully? I got a Telecharge error, saying something about that part of the site not working.

This announcement was quietly added to the 2021-22 season thread, but I think it warrants a mention here, too:
