I’m sitting somewhere all the way in back of Mezz. I paid like $110 total with the pre-sale that happened a few months ago. I’ve noticed that there’s a few partial view seats in the Orch that opened up and it’s only $70 or $80 to move my seat. Do you think it’s worth it? I’m just concerned that sitting back row in Mezz I’m going to miss some stuff especially on the part of the stage that comes out to the audience

I saw the show this past weekend, sat in Mezz, row S, seats 18 & 20. You can see the main stage fine, but right side (elephant side) the trunk blocks the side where some actors will be at some point. Also, you can see the runway out past the can can seats, but the very front part you can't see at all. If an actor stands there you can see them, but from the waist up, and if they walk toward the elephant, you can't see them until they hit the stairs on the side. My tix said nothing about partial view.

Second half of the show I sat in row N all the way to the right, seats 24 & 26 I believe, you could see a little more of the front stage area, but nothing on the elephant side.

I'd imagine aviewfromaseat.com is going to blow up with pics of this staging in the theater, hopefully that helps people :)

So I’m seeing a lot of posts that front mezznia great and back mezz is partial...do you know how far back is still ok? Row H? No pics on that website yet

All of this obstruction talk makes me that much more upset the show didn't end up in the Winter Garden, as had been floated for a bit. It's such a wide house, and you have to imagine the production would have had far fewer of these issues as a result. Nevermind that BJ likely only has a few more months there.

The Winter Garden is a Shubert house, so it wasn't an option.

Orchestra, third row center was perfect for me.  I hope those involved in the show see this thread and attempt to make changes, because unless it says "partial view" on one's ticket, this is not okay. These tickets are way too expensive for that crap.

I saw it Center Mezzanine Front Row and it was an absolutely perfect view. I saw everything, I was able to take everything in, and it was a gorgeous show. Very happy with my seat.

I'm looking at Orch Row H - Seats 10 and 12. Right, 4 from the aisle. Anyone have any idea if these would be good seats? I'm going with my mom who is quite picky.

I got in the cancellation line at 7 PM and was assured something would shake loose, and since I was first in line I should not leave. At 7:25 a ticket did shake loose -- H 104 -- as good as it gets. Fifteen minutes later a man sat next to me who bought his in the cancellation line (which is right by street-side box office window to the right of the entrance to the theater). There's a sign that clearly marks where the line starts, and the box office clerk told me to stand where he could see me directly, which I did.  My ticket cost $199, steep, but really great location.

They are wise to let audience members take pictures before the show -- it's like they've got a thousand volunteer press agents.  So bring your camera and snap away beforehand.

I'm someone who didn't care for the film -- I came to see Danny B -- been following him since Drowsy Chaperone.  THIS time he is going to finally win the Tony -- he always brings an extra something to each role. The audience LOVED him -- they loved everyone -- it's a first rate cast in every way, and the reason why people go out to live shows.  Three women in front of me were all from Atlanta -- came up specifically to see this show.  They were over the moon. Yes, it's expensive, but there's nothing else like it -- it's for shows like this that I'm happy to be a New Yorker -- look what we've got going on eight times a week just down the street. 

I don't know what the cancellation line experience has been at other performances. I stood in the cancellation line many times for "South Pacific" (Danny B was "Billis" and saw it at least a dozen times that way. It's always safest to do it solo, but for SP I did get a pair of tickets more than once. One thing about cancellation line tickets I've learned is that often these are house seats let go the last hour, and house seats tend to be in the best locations.  It's a gamble, but a fun gamble. The man who sat next to me has run a regional theater for more than 25 years up in Rochester, NY -- very interesting guy, and he LOVED this show, too -- going solo to theater, esp a popular show, you are bound to meet interesting people, so if it's before 8 PM, turn off your computer and go get yourself a ticket.

I saw the show via cancellation line for the second preview and again this week.

First time was orchestra row F center - great close up view and totally engulfs you, but you don't get the entire picture of the set.

Second time mezz row G seat 3. Loved this view, it's right behind the walkway so no heads in the way.

I sat front left mezz for this, a few seats off the aisle, and I have to say this is absolutely a show to see from the mezz, or further back in the orch. It is a huge production. 

I don't think left or right makes too much of a difference, but try to be as center as you can.

We saw it last night from Orch Right row O on the inner aisle. Saw the stage and balconies just fine, but the elephant is a bit cut off. We had a full view of the stage. Ordinarily I prefer sitting close, but this show benefits from being back to see the whole stage. If I had to choose again in the orchestra, I'd go around row K to avoid the mezz overhang, but not much closer. We felt plenty close to the action and could see facial expressions etc easily.

I wish I liked the show more. It is visually gorgeous. The production values are superb, the leads in great voice, and the big ensemble numbers are fantastically choreographed, but the continual snippets of pop music left me cold. Some songs worked, others didn't. And the romance between Tviet and Olivia just didn't register for me. Enjoyed Danny Burstein, Tam Mutu, and the rest, but the story as written just didn't have me emotionally invested. Big on spectacle, slight on substance.

I thought I responded to this thread, but I don’t see it. 

My group had mezz row H, seats 2-8. I was a little nervous beforehand but it turned out to be an amazing view. The only issue was the platform that sticks out in the audience (I forget the technical term) was cut off a little, but you could still see the actors who were standing on it. It’s not used frequently enough that it was an issue at all. (Sorry I don’t have a photo.)

We could see the "Moulin Rouge" letters above the stage just fine. Nothing onstage was blocked.  We may have seen Satine's entrance a moment or so later than those up front, but felt very little was blocked by the overhang other than the top of the elephant's head. We could see all the actors in the boxes a/ staircases and the windmill just fine. Wish I could post a pic but my mobile connection is sloooooowwwwww...

I saw it last night, Orchestra seats O 24-26.  Loved the show, but I definitely consider the seats obstructed and they were not sold as such.  I wouldn't say it took away from the performance, but I also probably wouldn't have bought the tickets had I known.  The biggest disappointment was that I could not see Aaron when Rolling in the Deep started at the end of the second act... he was just too far right.  However, most of the action did take place center.

Unfortunately there was some medical emergency, and sitting so far right, I could hear everything that was happening with sirens and people speaking on the street right outside of me on the quieter parts of Act 1.  I only connected it to the show because I saw EMTs in the lobby and an ambulance parked out front when I rushed to the bathroom after act 1 ended.

However, these seats were GREAT for stage dooring, so if that's important to you, this is the spot.  Walked out and was in the perfect position to be first when all of the actors came out.  I stayed for the second time ever. Had a nice chat with Sahr Ngaujah (he was fabulous, hopefully gets a Tony nom) and Amber Ardolino who were both gracious and humble.

We have Can Can seating coming up.  I'm a little stressed about the women's bathroom line at intermission, as I understand we have to wait to be let out and have to be back in our seats at some point prior to the end of intermission.  Anyone have any details, or do I need to do a liquid deprivation?

Update:  The "don't drink much all day" was what I relied on.  They only give you 12 minutes at intermission (have to be back in can can seats with 3 minutes to go), so I didn't risk it.  Most of the other women relied on the same idea.  

The seats themselves are a bit squishy, but doable.  If you're in the corner, there's a stage-mounted light that blocks some of the view if you're short.  It's amazing to see things up close and personal - it really is.  You do miss the overall "picture" that's being made, however.  We both really like the can can seat experience.

Two great perspectives (I'm assuming same price?). But if I had to choose, the first row mezz!!!

Not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous. Don't forget to get there early!
