Angels in America [deserves a permanant spot on Broadway]"
I absolutely adore Angels in America with all my heart. It’s probably my favorite straight play. However, the idea of it having a permanent spot on Broadway doesn’t sound like it would work. Every single role requires a very strong actor. However, I believe it’d be difficult to consistently get actors up to the caliber of the show to come in as alternates, as many would likely find the idea of tackling such a complex plot and enormous runtime to be too daunting.
There are embedded videos in this article if you open it directly in Playbill. If you try to view them indirectly through competitor Broadway World, not supported.
I know they’re currently planning an off broadway revival, but I really want to see Rachel Chavkin direct Assassins. I’d also like to see the following casting:
Ethan Slater as The Balladeer/Lee Harvey Oswald Patrick Page as The Proprietor Jonathon Groff as John Wilkes Booth Gavin Lee as Charles Guiteau Timothy Hughes as Leon Czolgsoz Kate Rockwell as Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme Leslie Kritzer as Sarah Jane Moore Robert Creighton as Giuseppe Zangara Patrick Vaill as John Hinckley Jr. Brooks Ashmanskas as Samuel Byck
