Quite. Unless they are highly unorthodox, I'd say it's a terrible idea. NYTW had dedicated staff at every performance to talk through potential trauma.

I really wasn’t a huge fan of this at NYTW, but it’s always heartening to see people with a lot of money (Jake Gyllenhaal and Abigail Disney, whose respective production companies are producers on this transfer) putting it toward genuinely forward-thinking, challenging work that wouldn’t get produced commercially otherwise.

Please do not see this with your parents! Great show, glad it's transferring.

Ya, they’re the type of catholic parents who complained about the gay Kiss in Love Simon, will be avoiding this with them at every single cost lol but they did mention they had interest. Happily will go by myself! Also read they’re releasing 10,000 tickets for $39, hopefully we found out where those seats are soon

Telecharge shows the last 2 rows of the mezz are $39, and I’m assuming they’ll do rush/lotto for that price too to hit the 10,000 mark.

Oh God, didn’t know tix we’re on sale!!! Not sure how I missed that. Is the Golden mezz have noticeably bad legroom? Just curious, very excited about this play. I haven’t heard much, but also can’t wait to see how tony voters react to this.

Tony voters will act very positively to this transfer if taking into consideration what they valued from this past season. At the very least the nominating committee will push it forward I think. Particularly considering the buzz around Jeremy O. Harris and that he'll also have a new play running at Playwrights Horizons in the spring, quickly following the closure of Slave Play in the winter.

I'm very excited to see Harris' career explode, both of his shows blew me away last season. And contrary to popular opinion, I thought Daddy was one of the most fascinating and exciting productions I've seen in recent years.

Love the initiative to release 10,000 affordable tickets- but aren't the last two rows of pretty much any play $39/$49 (sans ones with limited runs that are guaranteed to do incredibly well). Even incredibly successful Mockingbird has balcony seats for $39... I believe Network did too...and certainly every other play with less familiar content...

I paid $99 for the last row of the balcony for Network.

As for the legroom in the Golden, yes, it’s bad. As long as you grab an aisle you’ll be fine.

Network adjusted their prices. Early in the run after opening there were balcony seats for $49 I believe, maybe $59 at most but still. TKAM as well have availability in the balcony from $39-&49. So ya, it’s nice they announced this but I’m not sure it’s a ton different from other shows. Maybe if they do this and last row of orchestra it’d be a bit better

I am very happy Harris is getting the attention and enjoying a high profile. He's a whip smart playwright in the social media age. He works social media and is creating himself a brand. He knows how to sell himself. Old people will want to be connected to his energy-it will make them feel "hip." Celebrities want to be attached to him as well. How he manages his work over social media demonstrates how the playing field for creatives is changing.

I find his work overly provocative and not as deep as some of the other people seem to find it. I think provocative work sells and penises on stage sell. Let's not forget a good gimmick. I find a lot of his themes not fully realized, but to each his own. I will see the Broadway run.

"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal "I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

Totally agree. Was impressed at first, then I did the math over the number of performances and realized they're just doing what most producers do. A few more tickets, perhaps, but pretty close.

That last sentence makes me roll my eyes. In the past, having a registered nurse in attendance was reserved a schlock gimmick for shows like Dracula. Somehow, previous generations made it through everything from Mandingo (explicit, but pure exploitation) to Schindler's List (explicit, yet the opposite of exploitation) without needing trauma aid in the aftermath. Wonder what would be required to stage Marat/Sade at this point: nurses in attendance to provide lithium?

This isn't a criticism of Slave Play.

Jeez, why so ignorant towards people with mental health issues and PTSD? I think it’s great they’re their Incase they need it. Not sure how someone could be against it or make their eyes roll. If you’re aware of the show at all there are some scenes that I’m sure could be graphic enough to trigger someone’s PTSD. Do you not believe that’s a thing? A better recommendation would maybe be to suggest to someone who may feel this way to not see this show, not roll their eyes in ignorance.

Love that you had to go for the word "ignorant."

Here's a bit of knowledge: people have had mental health issues and PTSD issues for many generations, and they still didn't need therapists on hand at performances of a drama because of it. People who lived through Vietnam actually sat through dramas and movies with intense recreations and managed to survive just fine. People have comeback from Iraq with PTSD without crumbling at a performance of play.

Considering the affluence of the average Broadway theatergoer, the idea that someone in the audience might suffer from either PTSD or a mental health issue and not already have access to regular treatment, so that are likely to be triggered, incapable of dealing with it and must be provided with help right then and there--well, that's pretty much an impossibility, unless the average human being's ability to withstand anything remotely emotional is that much of an impossibility for Millennials and members of Gen Z.

More likely? The producers are looking to appear super woke by having someone on hand just in case.

Let me save you some trouble. "joevitus" is a troll who joined last Tuesday to defend Amar Ramasar's casting in West Side Story. He's spent most of his time in that thread attempting to slut-shame the young women in the ballet company whose pictures were swapped between Ramasar and his dudebros. It's a wonder he managed to write this post without including the word "snowflake." <<edited by BWW staff>> he's a troll, and he's best ignored.

Oh yes, I remember him now. The use of the word ignorant was perfect then!

Its obviously early and not all plays have been announced but id think this and the Inheritance are 2 shows lining up to be strong best play noms. Both seem innovative and unique pieces of theatre. Like I said its early but I expect based on the off broadway reviews and buzz this certainly has more than a shot at nominations. So excited for this one.

Grabbed a ticket on TDF a few minutes ago. A few hours ago they weren't available even though the show has been posted on the site for a few days now. Going the first week of previews.

For those who collect window cards, this is the first I’ve seen of what it’ll look like...wonder if they’ll have any other souvenirs?

Tonight’s Slave Play curtain was held 15 minutes so Rihanna and her entourage could arrive late for their 4th row orchestra seats. The rest of the audience managed to arrive on time.

They have a logo magnet (Which I purchased), a tote back and the window card, if I remember correctly, is a close up of her face with the cantaloupe closer to her face. I almost bought it.  I may when I go back next month.
