Yeah producing credit is the most likely. But for her to win it would be for Best Musical so less likely lol

But ABBA actually wrote the music, so that did made sense. ABBA controls ownership and has a say in rights to their work, so there likely won't be a competing musical with several of the exact same songs ever made (at least in this generation). Britney only sang her songs and doesn't "own" them (I've already acknowledged there may be a vanity writing credit somewhere). Maybe I'd be happier if it were pitched as "featuring songs originally performed by Britney Spears," like they do on a cover/karaoke album. That's MUCH more accurate, however, probably not as enticing to the masses, which I'm sure is the PR spin I'm calling out as a bit misleading.
Is she producing or at least receiving a vanity producer credit on this? Maybe if I felt she actually had involvement or ownership in this project, I'd be less opposed to calling it "the Britney Spears musical."

Oh dear Lordt make it stop x

Personally, I Don’t think he minds this at all. I think that there CAN be two musicals premiering in late 2019 with “Baby One More Time” and “Oops I Did I Again” on the soundtrack...

To be sure, the recent jukebox musical featuring Cher's music comprises of songs Cher did not write, which would be akin to any prospective Britney Spears musical excluding the song 'Everytime', which Britney Spears did (co) write.

?Everytime’ is easily my favourite Britney song, but I wonder if it is too somber and sad for an upbeat “girl power” project such as this. I hope it gets included in this musical though - With the right singer, it could easily be a highlight of the production...

I'm all for "the Max Martin musical." I guess it's just a matter of semantics for me. I sincerely hope Once Upon A Once More Time is a smash hit that finds more to bill itself as than "the Britney Spears musical." I hope it brings more exposure, royalties, and appreciation for Max and the other writers of the songs, which will no doubt be completely re-imagined for the stage (that's always exciting)!

I'd rather sit through a week of DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN.

LOL. I almost entered an ebay lottery for $1 for this in Las Vegas. Then I read the trip advisor and yelp reviews and said no thanks. I'm a fan of Britney and will always buy her new music projects, but I have zero interest in sitting through this.

Apparently any topic is open for a Broadway show nowadays. There really are no limits anymore, no matter how uninteresting or banal the subject or material.

That's subjective, tho.

I find it highly ironic that this show will have some talented professionals singing "live", something that the artist in question lacks the ability to do.

Nowadays, yes. I have loved Britney ever since I was 9 or 10. There is no denying her star power in the height of her prime. Her songs are recognizable, catchy and infectious, They bring many of us back to our childhoods. Can I admit that she is a bit lazy and uninspired now, of course. Since 2007, she has had no control over her life choices & finances. I would be uninspired too. But that doesn't take away from what she accomplished in the past, and where I assume the bulk of material for this musical will come from. is it going to be revolutionary? Probably not. Will it tank? Maybe. I'm sorry, not everything can be as amazing and innovative as Chicago. So please, mosey on back to your thread where you seem happier and more at peace.

Pero like..no one says anything like this for The Cher Show, and she's solely been using auto-tune and lip syncing since the late 90's. That doesn't negate that she's still a bomb performer and artist. As mentioned above, Britney was, and still is, an iconic star. Lip syncing or not, she puts on a show when you see her live. The actors in the show are, hopefully, going to put their own spin on her classics which doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that she doesn't sing live.

Cher is 300 years old...
She doesn't use auto-tune, she used a vocoder for 1 song.
Cher always sings live in concert, even though she's pretty much incapable of moving.
Britney is a glorified dancer and while she may have gotten better recently, she did 3 world tours and 1/2 her Vegas run where she was at least 2 or 3 beats behind the rest of the dancers and still couldn't sing a note live.

Cher is 100% using Auto-tune on that Mama Mia soundtrack. Regardless my main point is that though they're both stars neither of them are as good as they were back in the days. If we arent going to rag on Cher for sounding like a robot in 2019, we shouldn't rag on Brit for not singing live. Neither of which matter when it comes to either of their B'way shows.

LOVE Britney, LOVE Broadway musicals. The plot sounds insanely cute and I bet the show will be extremely charming.
