It feels like they're trying to drum up any kind of name but to zero avail.

It might come as a surprise to you but the bridge and tunnel crowd is allowed to come into Manhattan. So far they haven't stopped us at the border. : )

Of course the bridge & tunnel crowd comes into Manhattan, that's how they get their name! What I was trying to get at is: this production at ENCORES might not interest them if they saw the show 10 years ago on Broadway, or 5 years ago at Paper Mill, or 6 months ago on tour in NJ, or 3 months ago at The Gateway, or in any number of recent stock & amateur productions.
I personally don't see anything wrong with using veterans of previous ACL productions. They have the experience, the technique and the knowledge of their specific roles. It could be a mixture of new persons and veterans for all we know.
Julianne Hough was supposed to play Cassie, but I've heard she just dropped out and now the producers are scrambling to find a replacement.

Isn't that what the show is about though? A bunch of recycled vets?

Nein, unless what bwayboy22 said is true. They also had a bigger star lined up for Zach who dropped out and that's why it's now Tony.
But my point about using veterans, I really don't want to see Jessica Lee Goldyn as Cassie, Gabrielle Ruiz as Diana, Kevin Curtis as Richie again and half the cast of the last tour in this production.
I know she's not a name, but Scarlet Strallen was a terrific Cassie on the West End. I know she did The New Yorkers at City Center and just did Travesties on Broadway so I'm hoping I get to see her in the role again.

If you don't have anything new to say with your production of A Chorus Line,
stop trying to re-create the steps/staging from a long gone director/choreographer.
A Chorus Line FEELS like a dead show and it has for a long time because it IS a dead show.
It's a very competent cast but not at all exciting.

From what I hear, the estates involved refuse to let it be altered in any way. I believe there are exciting productions possible but that for as long as it's Baayork Lee recreating the same choreography using the same simple set and same gold costumes at the end, it's simply stuck as a museum piece. It's a shame. I grew up LOVING the cast recording, but when I saw the revival, which I was so, so excited for, it just felt lifeless and bland. I really like a number of these performers, but I just don't know that I care enough to watch a Xerox copy of everything that's come before.

That's really sad.
The estate is stopping their show from having a real life. It's never going to have another successful commercial production until the show can be reimagined. No one cares anymore to see the same production over and over and over again. Such a shame.
Then again, we're getting TWO new major West Side Story undertakings in the next few years: Ivo's Broadway revival and Tony Kushner/Spielberg's movie remake. And I never thought I'd get to see an exciting re-imagining of that material in my life time.
I hope smarter heads prevail over at the Bennet estate because they're killing the show.
