Oh just like how Rudin made sure carousel was the best it could be??

I feel it opened to early in the season for it to be remembered, but if anyone got nominated I’d love to see a nod for Peppermint even though she isn’t on stage that much.

I will say that I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaated Carousel but Rudin's track record as a producer is pretty stellar. There have been some major duds, but given how much he does, I consider it pretty impressive what percentage of his shows are incredibly artistically successful. But I will also say that I'm not at all looking forward to Mockingbird. It's a brilliant team, but I've always had the very unpopular opinion that it's one of the country's most overrated novels.

I'm hoping this is the year Steven Pasquale finally gets his nomination! Best Leading Actor in a Play, American Son.

So excited about the Hadestown love. I just bought my tickets for London. Am I right though that they have not announced a London cast yet? I really hope Amber is in, I love her.

I see Tootsies earning nominations for Best Actor, Musical, and Score at least. Obviously, I can't say much about the design categories since nothing has been released yet.

Last night I heard the entire cast album of Hadestown for the first time. And if it transfers this season I can see it sweeping. The music was amazing.

Agreed Mr. Peach,..Boys in the Band.  I thought Robin stole the show. The best laughs came from his delivery.

For Pretty Wonan, I say Samantha Barks is a sure lock for a Best Actress nomination and maybe a win, depending on Kelli O’Hara’s performance and if Dreamgirls comes. I also predict nominations for Best Actor (Andy Karl), Best Featured Actor (the actor who played the hobo/hotel manager), Best Featured Actress (Orfeh), Best Orchestrations, Best Cherography, and depending on competition: Best Musical/Book/Score

I always feel odd making predictions so far out and often before we have confirmation of a show opening...but Patrick Page and Amber Grey are two of the most deserving actors from any show in a long time. Especially Patrick Page, as I really can’t imagine Hadestown without him.

I think Barks get a nomination for sure;  Stephanie Block would be a favorite for a win and Jarrod Spector for featured actor.   Danny Burnstein for supporting as well.

I'm curious and hopeful about MOCKINGBIRD. It's the first Broadway show where Bartlett Sher isn't working with his go-to collaborators, Michael Yeargan (set designer) and Catherine Zuber (costume designer). Hopefully he'll be able to create magic onstage with his new colleagues. (The design team is Miriam Buether, Ann Roth, Jennifer Tipton, Scott Lehrer, and Adam Guettel...not too shabby!)

The play has a great ensemble cast, so there could be a lot of opportunities for nominations in the acting categories, depending on how it is.

Right now going off of musicals that are confirmed, I’d say:

Leading Actress: Kelli O’Hara, Stephanie J. Block, Samantha Barks

Leading Actor: Will Chase, Andy Karl, Santino Fontana

Featured Actress: Orfeh, Beth Leavel

Featured Actor: Christopher Sieber

I’d love to see Danny Burstein finally get his Tony if Moulin Rouge transfers. I agree Hadestown will do well when it transfers.

I’d wager King Kong will get a few design nominations. I’m curious about acting, but we’ll have to wait and see there!

Based on the confirmed musicals, I'd say SJB is the favorite to win.

I find it very odd that Patrick Page, who is generally regarded as one of the best classical stage actors in the country, hasn’t ever even been NOMINATED for a Tony Award. By the time the show transfers he’ll be almost 60. Give the man a damn Tony already!

I'm among those who really enjoyed Head Over Heels, but I can also see the writing on the wall, alas. I worry the show will be forgotten by Tony season.

That being said, I'd love to see Bonnie Milligan get a nod for Pamela.

I feel like (if it transfers in time) Moulin Rouge is a given for scenic design.

Unless Beetlejuice comes over as well and does something outrageous with their design. Please god no screens..
Sit down, be humble.

The only lock this season, when it opens, is going to be Bob Mackie for The Cher Show.

That depends -- are the designs original for the Broadway show --- or are many of them recreations of iconic dresses that Cher has actually worn -- like the Oscar dress?  If it's the latter, they would probably be deemed ineligible.

I just had the same thought. Though I would imagine he'd still be eligible, because he's designing more than just the Cher characters. Sometimes each individual costume item isn't designed/built by the costume designer. Things are purchased or tailored to fit the needs of the show, and the art of costume design is making all of the costumes work together on stage.

I actually think they thought about this, because while some of them have some of the same silhouettes as iconic Cher outfits. Many of them seemed tailored for the stage.

Not to mention, there are a lot of fabulous costumes not even worn by the Chers, too!

So, I was debating with a friend that J. Block is the favorite to win, what you guys think?

I have some questions: Amber Gray is a lead or a featured performer in Hadestown? I saw that she received nominations in both categories for previews awards.

Can Kelli O'Hara win a second Tony for Kiss Me, Kate?

Do you guys think that, if it opens, Olivo in Moulin Rouge is a threat to win a second Tony too?

As of now, I think that if The Cher Show is, at least, good, Block can win this.

I think that it will be Patrick and Amber in supporting and whoever plays Eurydice and Orpheus as leading. Hades and Persephone are big, meaty roles for supporting and they should be locks for at least a nomination (and win depending on competition) in both of those. Likewise, Orpheus and Eurydice always struck me as fairly small 'leading' roles, comparatively, such as Pierre in Great Comet as opposed to an Elle Woods or Evan Hansen who has to carry the show.

Right now I could easily see them getting best musical, book, score, orchestrations, supporting actor and actress

Scenic, choreo, and costumes to Moulin Rouge is pretty much a lock.

I am a little worried, however, that at this point Hadestown will delay their transfer again. It's not like they haven't done it before. I can't get excited till we have a set date.
