I could see it as stunt-casting down the road.

I know Cher never had the greatest voice (although she did a lot with what she had), and probably couldn't appear live today without significant technological assistance, but can Chad Michaels even sing that well? Wouldn't it sound like "Bea Arthur Croaks The Cher Songbook?"

I'm so excited for Stephanie! I do hope the eldest Cher is the meatier role of the three.

Al I have to say is this...Can Stephanie finally win her own long overdue Tony? Carry on.

I agree, I hope her and Danny Burstein eventually go the Kelli O'Hara route and get a long overdue Tony.

Also, on the topic of awards, I don't imagine new music being written for this story as it will go through Cher's career and will be a jukebox musical (i.e. I don't think Cher will have a new score to be nominated for).

So is Cher's only chance at being an EGOT being a producer of this show, and it winning Best Musical?

Broadwayworld really has a talent for choosing the most unflattering, poorly lit photos when they post press releases.

And I’ve grown to like Block over the years, but she’s hardly long overdue for a Tony. She has 2 nominations. She was good in Boy from Oz, Drood, and Falsettos. But her performances in Pirate Queen and 9 to 5 were hardly Tony worthy. She’s a phenomenal singer. I’ve always felt she is a bit wooden in the acting department. Her warmth and humor offstage somehow doesn’t transfer.

This show has the potential to be amazing with each new announcement.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Cher never wrote any of her songs though she did contribute some lyrics to some album tracks that never were hits.  Only the 2nd verse of "Believe" contains lyrics she wrote.  Any hopes of being a Tony Award winner will be as one of the producers if the musical wins Best Musical.

Is she even a producer on this?

Good question.  Though none of the press material mentions her as one of the producers, she is indeed heavily involved with the musical so I think its safe to assume she will be listed as one of the many producers when a fully detailed cast/creative team list is released.

It was a joke, Maury. Calm down

Cher has a great distinctive voice to this very day.

Three years ago she was 100% live at the british X-Factor and killed.

And I'm sure she's a producer here and it would perfect for her to be an EGOT, but I don't know about a Jukebox winning Best Musical. I know JB did and the book is written by the JB guy, but fingers cross!

Stephanie J. Block has only been nominated twice so far, so it's very premature to call her overdue at this point. Especially when you look at people like Danny Burstein, Scott Ellis, and Estelle Parsons who've all been nominated many more times over the years, and still have yet to win. Though if Moulin Rouge ends up being the show that finally wins Danny Burstein a Tony, I will literally scream at the top of my lungs (and not for good reasons given my enormous hatred for that property).

Pirate Queen was a mistake, Stephanie was unbelievable, and I think she nailed the only memorable song from the ill-conceived 9 to 5.  She was also the far superior to Idina as Elphaba.  I was hoping for something different than this.  I'm not a fan of Cher's music or of Cher.  I'm sure she'll nail the role like she does everything she touches, and her acting is what will probably make or break this show.  I will be curious to read your acting assessment after seeing this Mildred.

Any thought on whether this show would at least be in previews by the end of September. I see that she is scheduled to be performing by the end of October again. And was hoping to see it when I’m there in September. Thanks

Didn’t they already make an announcement it’s beginning previews at the Neil simon in September? Or was that just a rumor?
