With regard to Malia, I don't think that would be remotely the same. Ivanka Trump was a major player in the campaign and an active participant in her father's political activities. That's not true of Malia Obama.

Now, if Michelle Obama were somehow on my commercial flight, she'd get an earful about some of her husband's policies.

Uh huh.  I'm sure her "liberal" perspective on free speech will be interesting considering she uses free speech to write the book, publish it, market it, and promote it.  The blurb from her book is most enlightening:

"Free speech and freedom of conscience have long been core American values. Yet a growing intolerance from the left side of the political spectrum is threatening Americans' ability to freely express beliefs without fear of retaliation."

Free speech doesn't protect you from "retaliation" and it never has.  It's not a blanket get-out-of-jail free card to say anything you want (just as how every freedom protected by the Constitution has limits and boundaries).  And if conservatives want the ability to speak freely without criticism, judgment or consequence, then they're in the wrong country.  That's not "free speech".  But if she wants to call herself "liberal", then it's no surprise her book may be conceptually confused at its core and that further description from the book's own blurb states, "learn how the illiberal left is obsessed with delegitimizing Fox News."  The notion is not entirely unlike the War on Christmas and how liberals are "destroying freedom of religion".

No, it doesn't. That's an idiotic, dumbass remark there (and missing simple capitalization). You're free to say any idiotic, dumbass thing you like, and everyone else is free to tell you that what you said is idiotic and dumbass. That's the way freedom of speech works.

Freedom of speech does not mean that you get to say idiotic, dumbass things and everyone else is legally compelled to either pretend it's smart or just smile and nod.

The major problem with a lot of people is they truly believe that disagreement is "intolerance." That's usually because they lack sufficient intelligence to support their dumbass opinions, and so the only defense available to them is to hide behind accusations of intolerance.

Strange how it never occurs to them to examine the validity of their opinions, and perhaps change their minds when confronted with non-partisan evidence. (Of course, they automatically assume any evidence contrary to their reactionary beliefs is partisan.)

So, was the marketing of the book false or misleading?  I have no desire to read it, but if you don't want to discuss the book you recommended, okay by me.  Just don't pretend that your refusal to discuss is an example of my killing your free speech.  Unless you think it is.  That would be hilarious!  I would be curious to know how the contents of the book itself would directly contradict the description that was intended to promote it.  I imagine it may resemble the way she describes herself as a "liberal" or "not a conservative".

Hm, I'm not sure what's wrong with delegitimize. (Neither does the BWW spell check, apparently.) I think I have a decent command of Standard English, and it seems like a perfectly normal word to me. Its meaning is clear, and I can imagine it being useful from time to time.

"Delegitimize" is one of those corporate lower-middle management words that result when some underperforming but overboasting moron adds "ize" or "ity" to a word to create a new and unneeded verb or noun, like "incentivize" or "meriticity." These words then gain enormous traction with other idiots who would rather make up new words than use ones that have served their purpose well, clearly, and gracefully for decades, if not centuries.

Look up the history of "delegitimize" and you'll see it's a Johnny-come-lately, and a poor attempted replacement for the perfectly fine "invalidate" or "devalue."

“As the lady was removed I saw that I was surrounded by blacks, Latinos, Asians, and whites, all who had chimed in asking her to be removed and who had defended me,” he wrote on Facebook. “I was touched and moved knowing later that not all these people were Trump supporters. The black man who took the seat next to me was a registered Democrat and he and I had a very good discussion about the beauty of free speech and coming together when people insult and commit acts of violence just for having differing views.

This woman is an embarrassment to her "cause," and it's proven by the fact that the entire plane applauded as she was escorted off.

I've been in an altercation with a Trump supporter. I was at the gym and I heard this guy say nasty things (to his wife!) about the women who accused Trump of sexual assault during the campaign. I think I remained as respectful as was called for, but I definitely created a bit of a scene in response, and a few people commented that I should have minded my own business. (A few others agreed with me, of course.)

Would I have been a better person to just let this nonsense pass without comment?

KDOGG, I do not doubt and have seen aholes on both sides. I just like to point out hypocrisy of posters here, and in the media who focus on just one side. 

Just my advice,  I would have stayed out of it. You never know who has gun.  To me, these people make fools of themselves with their own words.
