To be fair, had this girl with the crutches been at Hedwig, it wouldn't have worked out in her favor because Neil doesn't take pictures and only signs Hedwig merchandise. Different stage doors, different rules. Sometimes it works out in your favor, sometimes it doesn't.

Totally thought that was Megan Hilty in that picture too!

Also, this whole thread is so very silly. Idina is an angel for coming out at all. Every bit I've seen/heard about this stage door sounds like an absolute nightmare.

Too bad New York isn't an open carry state. You could have threatened the little faker to PROVE she needed those crutches, which she didn't. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a maroon. A gulli bull.

Oh hey the girl on crutches was me. I fractured my knee I couldn't exactly walk without them so sorry? Lachanze didn't want me getting more hurt or anyone else getting hurt so she had security put me behind the barricade. That was pretty much it. We got the same treatment as everyone else just in a different spot so nobody would get hurt since the crowd went insane the second she came out. If people weren't mobbing her we wouldn't have had to be moved. She signed our playbills just like she did for everyone else. We didn't get pictures or extra time with Idina. And the girl I was with had seen the show in May but didn't get a chance to go to the stage door afterwards so that explains her Gentleman's Guide playbill.

The "girl on the crutches" isn't very good at being bitchy, is she?

This thread is "ridiculousness."

Not exactly trying to be bitchy I just don't know what the problem is. Why is it an issue for Lachanze to be making sure fans would be safe at the stage door? And why would someone fake a fractured knee just to avoid a crowded barricade?

I was being ironical, GirlOnCrutches. You're all right by me if you're a friend of LaChanze's.

"Moral of the story: next time, go to the stage door on crutches or a wheelchair to get noticed."

Oh goodness, I know you are joking, but I can just SEE someone actually doing this.

The reality of the stage door situation is that you're all there waiting for someone who, at this point in her career, has a whiole LOT of people who want her attention. Those who want her autograph at the stage door are very lucky she spends as much time as she does giving back to her fans!

This thread is everything!!!!!

Who cares if someone got something you didn't. Good for them!!

Lachanze did the right thing, I would want the same done for me if there was a jealous crowd pushing for a 10 second interaction and not worrying about bumping into already injured fans. Have a heart.

Spread love!!!

What's ridiculous is that this stage-door incident was worth its own thread. I'm amazed by Idina's patience with dealing with the craziness, especially after singing her guts out 8 times a week. ... Before she comes out, the Rodgers Theatre staff tells the fans that Idina is glad to sign, but she will not pose for photos, so don't ask her. However, the last time I was there, Idina made an exception and posed with a little girl. Awwww.

"VeronicaMae: To the point of the thread - I understand the annoyance, but I also understand the other side of it. I have stage doored when I haven't seen the show - because I already had or will. It is easier, you're guaranteed a spot, etc. by getting there earlier than the majority. But, I understand if you're an audience member that night it can be annoying because that feeling of "but they cut in line" creeps up on you."

This was all I meant by posting this thread. I think the stage door, while being a public place, should be somewhere where audience members should be able to interact with the performers that they just saw perform, and congratulate them on such a great performance, just like what was mentioned in the Michelle Williams Thread.

I have always known that it is so nice of any actor to come out after a performance and I agree that she is an angel for coming out to meet the crowds that await her.

Erin -- CrutchGirl: If you read carefully, nearly everyone here had no problem with what happened. There was sarcasm, but that was to point out the ridiculousness of the thread. No one was really questioning your authenticity.

Littleshop: you are being petty. Plain and simple. Having seen the show, that day or any other, brings no other guarantee except the show. Someone showed a kindness to someone at a disadvantage -- don't blame the recipient, be grateful there are nice people in the world.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

No one actually thinks "Erin" is the real crutch girl, right? I mean. It's late June. It's summertime. The kiddies are out to play....

Err, if this is your point, you should compare this with your original post, as it has a vastly different tone.

When all is said and done what does it matter. So you have a signed Playbill. Whoop de ******* do. When you die are you going to take it with you so you can be with it for eternity in the coffin.

I read these stories and they are good for a laugh.

Buuuuut the thing is is that the stage door is just a known exit for the actors and no one should have to do anything there. The fact that actors do is a bonus. Did an injured girl on crutches directly impact your ability to tell anyone congratulations? If so, why not go back another night and do it? Or write to them? Or just accept that it is actually not a big deal at all?

I don't know about using the word "SHOULD be a place, etc...) It COULD be, but I think your expectations of what will happen there are a little too high.

Liza, you say this about every new person. As I recall, you called me a "troll" on whether I should see Cinderella or not, based on the very bad reviews I saw in this site.
