So she broke the rules. So did the HM for vouching for her AND the SS for not sticking to their pre-approved list of vetted employees. Any consequence for any of them? Probably not. Write her up, suspend her without pay, but you don't fire her. Keep talkin' Debbie! Embarrass them! If all else fails, call Andy Cohen. I'm sure he'll find you a spot. Remember Michaele Salahi?

Susan, my comment was meant to be humorous but not as an Obama slam as your reply would seem to suggest. God knows his Presidency has had many rough spots but I'd still rather have him in there than anyone the other side had proposed.

If you believe as most of us do that yes, she broke the rules, then it is up to her employer to decide what her appropriate punishment should be according to their policies and past practices, not you, not me, not the New York Times and certainly not the court of public opinion. Are there others to blame? Probably, but that doesn't mitigate her responsibility for creating this mess in the least. Yes, let Andy Cohen cast her on one of his real housewives shows. Just make sure she's rich, arrogant, has had bad plastic surgery, is a drama queen, gets into arguments for no reason and can do a strong finger wave.

Michaele Salahi was the (nobody) who, with her now ex-husband (nobody), breached security at a White House state dinner and parlayed it in to a season on Bravo's Real Housewives of DC. Vilified by one and all, they divorced and faded away. To keep her star burning bright, she soon remarried guitarist Neal Schon in a pay-per-view ceremony. A real piece-of-work, Michaele, but girl made bank. Surely someone as nice as Debbie deserves a shot.

Sorry FB, didn't mean to upset you. I'm hardly an Obama-slammer. It was a comment on how stories can spin. Sometimes out of control. Like this one, for example. As for the Andy Cohen bit: Just a little wishful thinking on my part that, if her days as an usher are over, here's hoping that doors bigger and better than those of the Shubert Organization will open for her.

I don't see what a Facebook group's going to do, aside from offering moral support for an adult who should have known better. Yes, every has lapses in judgement, but with the president it's life or death every second and I don't understand how any adult could do something like this and think the consequences would be anything different.

To be fair, both threads were posted within minutes of one another on the same day. The other one just ended up being the one that got the traffic.
