If you want to meet Idina that bad, you're going to have to just wait until whenever she (or ANY cast member, for that matter) feels like coming out. They're not "making" anyone wait at all. It's your choice to stay.

Saw the matinee today, Then came back to stage door the evening show because the stage door guy said Idina dosen’t come out between shows. Anyway, Jenn Colella came out, then Anthony Rapp, followed by LaChanze and then James Snyder, there was a long gap between them and Idina, but she came out a little after 11:35. Everyone tried their best to sign for everyone, including Idina. Did not see anybody else come out the stage door. The leads all posed for pictures except for Idina. But was kind enough to sign not only my If/Then Playbill, but my Wicked photo from Vanity Fair. She was very quiet, but very kind. It was pretty packed, with the line being about 10 rows thick in some places, people were climbing on light poles trying to see over the crowd. It’s probably best to see the show, then come back to another performance to get a good spot because once they let out, it was like a stampede of people making a mad dash to the line.

If/Then Stage door

Embarrassing moment- I told Anthony Rapp I loved him in Pet Semetary- Which he wasn't in! ( I would have bet my hair that he played the guy who got hit by the truck and spent the rest of the movie as a ghost) LOL, I was beyond embarrassed.

Are you saying that none of the ensemble came out the stage door?

"What was the name of that cheese that I like?" "you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start" "well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"

Idina doesn't come out after matinees, everyone else (AFAIK) usually does.

They're in tech, folks. They're doing 8 shows a week and rehearsing in the afternoons. You'll have better luck at the stage door after opening. The cast is pooped.

Yes, it's still mega crowded. It probably will continue to be every night as long as Idina is in the show.

Exceptions are when weather is bad. Pouring rain/bitter cold and perhaps sweltering heat will keep some people away.

The night I went, it was bitter cold- super windy and the windchill was below Zero, but it was STILL super packed LOL. I remember standing there freezing thinking I'm freezing my ass off just for a few quick seconds of chat with Idina Menzel. Was it worth it? I still don't know. LOL

Sorry to bump this but just wondering if anyone has done this lately. I'm seeing the show in two weeks and since I'm assuming it's still crazy crowded, I'm wondering if my friends and I will even stand a chance trying to get a spot for autographs after the show if we're coming from the rear mezzanine.

Yes, it is still crazy crowded. It will always be so long as Idina is in the show. It really isn't going to change.

I think we all recommend the same thing - stage door a night that you AREN'T seeing the show. Granted, that suggestion may piss of other people who think only those at the show that particular night should be at the stage door, but unless they start checking tickets, that'll never happen. Just show up before the show is let out and you'll have a great spot.

Idina won't speak if at all because she rests her voice. Even in "Wicked" at the cast album signing, for some reason held in the Gershwin lobby right before a performance and featured in the documentary "ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway" she didn't speak.

I'm going to bump this! Does Idina take pictures when she comes out or is it strictly signing?
xx

1) Idina isn't really "resting her voice" per se - she has a kid and a ton of other appearances/interviews. She's not as strict with her voice as she used to be, due to being a mother (she's discussed that in interviews). If she doesn't talk it's because what is there to say to a bunch of strangers ogling you other than "thank you"? lol
2) Idina does not pose for photos; the stage door "wrangler" briefs the crowd before her exit on what you can/can't do (you can take pictures OF her, but you aren't to ask her to pose with you - though I heard the guy tell someone who asked him what happens if they ask that, "you can ask, but she can say no").
3) Other cast members do seem to stop for photos.

I am sure part of that is a time thing, would probably take forever for her to pose for picture with everyone.

Err, even if that were true, I think "resting her voice" sounds way better than making it seem like she'd have nothing to talk about with you anyway, so she figures why bother?! If/Then Stage door

Sorry to bump this again, but seeing the show on the Sunday matinee, I was wondering that since it's their last show of the day would Idina come out of the stage door or is it for all Matinees?

I went to the Wednesday matinee and as soon as we lined up the guy said "idina doesn't come out between shows" so we stayed and lachanze, Jackie and Anthony came out. Anthony even made a comment about how it was mad crowed for a Wednesday. Then in the evening we just waited by the stage door 10 minutes before the show ended. La chanzd came out, then Anthony, joe and then idina came out with Jenn. Probably no longer 20 minutes after the show ended. She was so really sweet btw .

So there is still a chance that she will come out after the matinee on Sunday? They only have one show that day.
