I didn't see much this year, but here's my list: Sister Act (Tour - Boston) $15 Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking $44.25 Hands on a Hardbody $32 The Mystery of Edwin Drood $32 Sister Act (Tour - Providence) Comp/Press ticket The Book of Mormon (Tour - Boston ) $25 Life Could Be A Dream (NYMF) $25 Wicked (Tour - Boston) $53 Evita (Tour - Providence) Comp/Press ticket (Opening night) Les Miserables (Ocean State Theatre Company, Rhode Island) $49 The Last Five Years in Concert (The Huntington - Boston) $25 Total Shows: 11 (2 Broadway, 1 off-Broadway, 1 festival, 1 concert, 1 regional and 5 national tours) Total Spent: $300.25 (much lower than my 2012 total of $634.25 for 15 shows)
I am going to try the Wicked lottery in Providence on New Year's Eve, so that might get added on. I should add, I turned down free tickets to Once and Ghost in Providence, as well. (Once because I was sick, Ghost because it was Game 1 of the World Series and I am a huge Boston fan.)
I decided to do a more detailed breakdown for more accurate numbers, so these are all the shows I saw this year, in order:
The Book of Mormon - Chicago sit-down production - $100 My One and Only - Marriott Lincolnshire - $45 Other Desert Cities - Goodman Theatre - $23 My Fair Lady - college production - $10 Orphans - Broadway - $30 Cinderella - Broadway - $72 Pippin - Broadway - $37 Measure for Measure - Goodman Theatre - $46 Godspell - high school production - $7 Big Fish - Chicago tryout - $28 By the Way, Meet Vera Stark - Goodman Theatre - $23 Head of Passes - Steppenwolf - comp The Glass Menagerie - Mary-Arrchie Theatre Company - $27 The Jungle Book - Goodman Theatre - $23 Slowgirl - Steppenwolf - comp The Drowsy Chaperone - community theatre - $18 The Liaisons Project: Sondheim reimagined for the piano - Ravinia festival - $10 Belleville - Steppenwolf - $15 Driving Miss Daisy - college production - $15 Next to Normal - Drury Lane Oakbrook - $23 The Wheel - Steppenwolf - comp Joseph - community theatre - $18 The North China Lover - Lookingglass Theatre - comp Pullman Porter Blues - Goodman Theatre - comp The Triangle Factory Fire Project - high school - $7 Lord of the Flies - Steppenwolf - comp All Shook Up - high school - $12 Harry and the Thief - The Pavement Group - comp The Secret Garden - community theatre - $18 Great Expectations - Strawdog Theatre - comp The Heiress - college production - $15 Tribes - Steppenwolf - comp The Normal Heart - Timeline Theatre Company - comp
So that brings my actual total to $622, much higher than my initial estimate. My average ticket price was $18.85, including comps. Without comps, it's $27.04. Not bad either way. Looking at the list, there are some shows I feel I really overpaid for, and some I got comped when I would have gladly paid top-dollar to see them. It all evened out very nicely, so even though there are some show I'm sad I missed (okay, many shows) I feel very satisfied for my year in theatre.
Once - $30(?) rushed Pippin - $35(?) rushed Cinderella - $75 bought in advance I might be attempt lotteries this upcoming Monday so I'll get to add hopefully one more! I've only been in NYC a month so I don't rank as high as some of you do
I've been lurking for a couple of months, but I'm so list-obsessed that I had to sign up to post in this thread. These are the shows I saw:
Cinderella - $89 Guys and Dolls (Shaw Festival) - gift Once - gift Kinky Boots - $60? A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder - $49 After Midnight - $49 Buyer and Cellar - $31 A Christmas Carol (Virginia Theater Machine in Williamsburg) - free Peter and the Starcatcher - $31 Fun Home - $35 Les Misérables (Toronto) - gift Aladdin (Toronto) - gift
My personal spending was about $350, but it would be double that if I included tickets gifted by my parents. And most of these shows were in the past two months, so I imagine that next year will be much more expensive....

This was not a good theater year for me. Money was sort of tight and too many more important expenses came up.

I still am seeing "Warhorse" tonight for my last show of the year, saw it last year in Toronto... CT - Community Theater PT - Professional Theater HS - High School NT - National Tour UT - University Theater * - 1st time seeing the show (added 25 new shows) + - World premiere
Favorites were definitely: Bonnie & Clyde, Shrek, Catch Me If You Can, The Light In The Piazza, Anything Goes, A Little Night Music, Next To Normal, In The Heights, Tommy.
Just love Bonnie & Clyde. The local HS production of Shrek was better than the national tour I saw the previous year. CMIYC is just a fun romp. TLITP is always treat. Same with ALNM. Seeing Rachel York from the 2nd row in Anything Goes is a real treat. A unique staging of NTN with great performances. ITH had its problems, but most of the leads were great and still mustered 4 hankies. Tommy! what to say...
Think I spent about $6000 for 2 tickets/show. Travel/lodging probably another $2K.

Not too bad if I say so myself.
