The Tour doesn't have the magic mirror which I LOVED on Broadway. I hope the Broadway filming is what's released.

I personally felt the Broadway version was superior and I'm positive that is the version they'll be releasing. They may include the proshot filmed performance of "Forever" as a bonus feature.

Saw the London version and it was awful. Really bad acting and singing and a very cheap looking scenic design.

^ The London scenery was cheap, except a dragon that flew.

Personally I hope they releasein a box set for say $20, only avid theatre or die hard Shrek fans are going to buy it and both groups are very much in the minority.

Shrek the Musical DVD coming out after all?

While I prefer the dragon from the national tour and the flying from the London version, I'd rather see the Broadway production with its good cast and great sets

We know they filmed the Broadway production so if it ever actually gets released it will probably be that. I like the idea mentioned above. Just include the pro-shot "Forever" from the tour as a bonus feature.

She's on a hit show... on ABC Family... and I'll reiterate, they are NOBODIES.

No, you are a NOBODY. They are celebrities who aren't necessarily every household names. The people who would be looking to buy Shrek the Musical on DVD are likely recognize them at least by their face. (Well, not Brian D'Arcy James in this case.)

And the plot thickens... Amazon has a listing now for Shrek the Musical, not for a DVD but for HD Instant Video. It seems like this is definitely happening because it has a synopsis, rating (PG), and other details. The OBC is listed as starring, so that clears up that question. And it still lists 10/15 as the release date, but it says "theatrical release date." So that leads to more questions. Will this be screening in movie theaters? Will it only be released digitally and not on DVD or Bluray? I'm guessing a DVD/Bluray/digital release all on 10/15, but who knows? I'm just ecstatic that it's finally being released! Although, what's with using the animated character for the artwork?

I just hope they used Forever and not Donkey Pot Pie regardless if it's the OBC Dragon and Donkey... The trailer on iTunes is ambiguous... It looks like it could be a trailer for the tour, but we've never seen it before and it does include DPP.

^ How and why would that make any sense? It's going to be the full version as it was on Broadway. Plan and simple. If they did Forever, it would not flow with the rest of the show, with the sets and cast.

Odd that they're releasing what I assume will be the Broadway version of the show. Considering that the tour and the MTI version have undergone some heavy changes. New opening, new dragon song, etc... But I guess it will bring in some $$$ for them?

I remember reading that when 'Into the Woods' was originally filmed in 1989, people had to wait two years for it to be televised and then released on home video. I am glad that the filmed version of this show is finally happening 3 and 1/2 years later.

If they keep that laugh track in then there's a good chance that I'm not even going to bother with it. It's awful and the show wasn't even filmed with an audience. Why lie to us? I never understood the point of a laugh track, it's just annoying.

Unless something has changed, they filmed with an audience on Broadway. A very good friend of mine worked on the camera crew. They recorded 2 shows.

It wasn't a paid performance then because it was after Brian D'Arcy James left the show and he came back to film this.

Either way, what is in the trailer is an awful laugh track. That is not real, there is no way it could be.

What trailer? The only one I see is on iTunes and that looks like a press video for the London production.

EDIT: Never mind. I found it. I highly doubt that they will actually use a laugh track in the official release. The laugh track just seems like something they quickly put together for the trailer.

I do wish that it came out on DVD instead. Call me old fashioned, but I like having the physical item not just downloading it off the computer, same thing when it comes to cast albums. Updated On: 7/20/13 at 07:08 PM

Ok, you're old fashioned Shrek the Musical DVD coming out after all?
