While Scottsboro certainly deserved some of these nominations, I feel like they went overboard. Forrest McClendon? Really? Set design? Orchestrations?

This is truly heartwarming and a tribute to those nominators who looked beyond commericial considerations to give this brilliant show its moment in the sun. While I would LIKE it to win, I think the euphoria over Book of Mormon will prevail. But it also gives me hope that BOM has some stiff competition and probably lessens its chances of taking a clean sweep of everything.

amazing! this is wonderful!

the most amazing thing about the set design was the way the actors absolutely popped off of that white background. Pretty genius if you ask me!

Well deserved all around!

I would argue that that's costuming and lighting. The lighting was exquisite. I will give you that. It absolutely deserves a nomination. But the set? Really?

Well deserved on all accounts. This show was brilliant and I'm glad the nominating committee recognized that!

Got to see the show two weeks before its untimely folding, and am genuinely pleased that it didn't slip off Tony's radar. It may have been too heavy for the typical theatregoer, but it's truly deserving. Would love to see it resurrected!

Set? Absolutely. Not since Grand Hotel has a simple set of chairs and a plank been put to such good use on a Broadway stage. The stage pictures that were created because of them were extraordinary. I loved everything about this show and am so glad to see it remembered so fondly.

And I can easily see Stroman grabbing both directing and choreography Tonys and the score winning.

I honestly think the show getting such a huge amount of nominations means the wins will be split between this and MORMON. MORMON will obviously take Best Musical, but SCOTTSBORO I can see taking DIrecting, Score, choreography, Orchestrations and a few others.

This show is a masterpiece. Glad to see it get the recognition it deserves! It'd be amazing to see them take home a few awards.

You have to keep in mind that the nominating committee is not the same as the Tony voters. Scottsboro Boys could EASILY end up with zero wins. I just honestly don't see them taking any major awards with a critical AND popular monster hit like Book of Mormon in the running. If it was still running, it'd be a whole other ball game.

I know they're different but the show has a lot of love and now that the voters have a chance to vote for it, I think they will.

Yes! So glad for them! I loved this show and miss it very much. It's a shame John Cullum was not nominated-he deserved it. I really loved his performance in particular.

I do think Kander & Ebb will receive best score for their wonderful work here.

I hope it DOES win some awards, as I absolutely adored that show, but I don't think it will. I think some voters might look at the 12 nominations as recognition enough.

Scottsboro Boys might actually win at least for score, especially facing the fact this might be the "good bye tony" for Kander & Ebb. And surely they'd deserve it.

BoM is fine, but the score is so much less sophisticated than Scottsboro Boys. So I'll keep my fingers crossed.

With this show winning a number of awards it would really be signal that shows like that still can in a way cope with items like Spider Man.

So happy for Joshua Henry's well deserved nomination! I'm also quite thrilled with the number of nominations this beautiful show received.

I am surprised that SCOTTSBORO got so many noms, and IF it were to reopen I would be there in a heartbeat for a 3rd viewing...Looking back I think I enjoyed it even more the 2nd time I saw it last fall. It's too bad they didn't open in the spring when these nominations could have had some effect. I hope it will at least spur sales of the cast album and interest from regional/community theaters.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

This was my favorite musical of the past two seasons. I'm thrilled that they have been recognized to this extent. I think they have a good shot at winning score and direction.

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
