Thank you for providing those details, Erzlump! That sounds a bit more interesting than the Orpheus I was envisioning based just on the albums etc, even if it's not the most mind-blowing characterisation ever. (Hope I'll someday get to see the full show and judge properly for myself.)

It is simple. It's 3 sections on rollers with a lighting rig behind it.

The rest of the staging is always there.

Personally I loathed the staging. The cast spent most of the night crammed into a tiny section of a massive stage...spinning...

I’m the complete opposite. I’ve been listening to the Live Original Cast Recording for about two weeks now, and absolutely fell in love with it on first run through. Hate that I’m not seeing the show until the end of August, but I’ve got several great diversions between now and then to keep me busy.

If I wasn't a huge fan of Great Comet (liked some songs, just couldn't get into the story) should I skip this? I'm intrigued by the preview clip thing Jordan Roth posted, but at the same time I'm not sure. Thoughts?

The Great Comet and Hadestown share only one thing in common: their director. That’s it. Wildly different shows and scores and vibes. If you’re intrigued and can afford the ticket, go see it.

I found this interesting....the number of people that are connecting Comet with Hadestown.  It just seems so...odd...to me.   (And I'm not bashing anyone, just making a comment.)

I actually have no idea why I connected the two...maybe it's just because of the director. But that's no reason to think they'd be the same style....but I am wondering if there'd be a certain audience that would enjoy both, or if they're so different that you could see either and like one but not the other (if that makes sense, haha).

Well to be fair, Amber Gray connects the two shows, too. But I liked Hadestown much more than Great Comet.

Love Hadestown! Saw the show several times, enjoy both albums and am very eager to see the Broadway production. Absolutely hated The Great Comet the one time I survived sitting through the entire show. Would never consider listening to The Great Comet music again. They are not comparable.

Jordan Roth posted a clip on Instagram yesterday that shows significant changes in the first Eurydice/Orpheus interaction. A positive sign that they are giving attention to the foundation of the relationship.

Damn, I'll eat my hat if they make the whole "everyone singing at the same time as orpheus" thing sound not dumb. It did not work at ALL in London.

And further changes to his character/arc. I've basically kissed nytw orpheus goodbye, charming as he was. That was what was pulling the london production down, they changed orpheus so much, the rest of the show needed to change around him and it hadn't fully done so. You could see how it was designed around a different character.
