Interesting one to start with. I'm sure there's no agenda to this thread at all. Nope. Not one bit.

Canceled Productions That Eventually Happened?  Apr 25 2024, 05:13:48 PM

After two years, SJP and Matthew Broderick could have just moved onto other things, but they brought it back out of love for the project.

Plaza Suite was never "cancelled" though. They always intended to come back after the shutdown, and were consistently speculated to be one of the bigger money-makers whenever Broadway returned.

I would, however, personally include Hangmen&

Seeing a show when you're not feeling great  Apr 21 2024, 05:25:47 PM

Just popping in to second the "could be allergies" posts. I'm congested as hell right now, but I feel great otherwise. I just have a pollen allergy, and live in a city with very high pollen levels.

I'll be going to NYC next week to see shows, and it's very likely that I will still be congested at least for the first show or two. I don't think my pollen allergy should warrant people telling me to not go to the theatre.

So yeah, don't tel

John Cardoza held at gunpoint, Michael Stuhlbarg attacked with a rock  Apr 1 2024, 07:37:39 PM

Last spring when I was in the city for my pre-Tonys show lineup, I saw a 50s-60s y/o homeless(?) guy say "Hey pretty lil' thing!" to a girl who looked no older than six.

Crime is definitely up, and they're getting more brazen about it.

You could also frame it as the age where humans have more compassion for one another in a communal way, and much less of an individualistic "survival of the fittest" mindset.

Playwright on HIV Med Strike / NYTW Responds  Mar 10 2024, 10:20:47 AM

I could say a lot of things. And none of them are mean, and all of them are in earnest. But since they are related to mental health, they would probably get deleted. And I don't want to waste my time typing a bunch of stuff out in earnest, just to have it get deleted for breaking...I honestly don't know which rule.

All I'll say is that I hope this playwright gets the help they very clearly need. This is honestly a really scary story.

A BEAUTIFUL NOISE to announce closing date soon  Feb 21 2024, 10:42:08 PM

They might be right about this.

But it's worth just a general reminder to everyone that NYTix is not just an unreliable source, but a downright laughable one. I honestly sometimes wonder if they're even a serious site.

I'm pretty sure they are, but their content is sometimes ridiculous enough to be satire.

Let's just make sure we don't get into the habit of citing them as anything close to a reputable (or even serious) source.

Why on earth was New York New York nominated??  Dec 28 2023, 04:36:06 PM

I love these random, sometimes unhinged, rants from Broadway Flash that seem to come completely out of nowhere.

Not necessarily. Non-binary people use whatever pronouns they use. I'm non-binary, and while I use they/them pronouns when I talk about myself, I also accept he/him pronouns. Some non-binary people use their born pronouns, and some use any pronouns. It differs from person to person, and the general rule of thumb is whatever that person says goes.
