NY City Center teasing 2024 Encores season  May 30 2023, 09:18:31 PM

If it’s A Little Night Music I hope we get Sierra Boggess and Emily Skinner reprising their performances from Barrington Stage

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/28/23  May 30 2023, 08:32:34 PM

Summer, 1976 is doing a lot better than most MTC shows. The best weeks they’ve seen since The Little Foxes if I’m not mistaken.

Will Almedia Streetcar Transfer to Broadway?  May 4 2023, 12:00:33 AM

All of my friends (21-28 ish) have seen Normal People and love Mescal… I don’t think any of them know what Killing Eve or who Jodie is. Not that the audiences would be the same but I think Paul would sell very well in New York.

BAD CINDERELLA On Broadway - P/reviews & News Thread  Mar 24 2023, 12:30:52 AM

ErmengardeStopSniveling said: "God, Jesse Green really went for the jugular with this one, basically daring the show to defy the critics and be a success (which he knows it won't be).

Aside from the nice words about Carolee & Grace, perhaps the kindest thing about his review is that he didn't talk about Linedy's performance. The singular quote about her: "a series of effortful numbersGenao sings bravely"
"

Patti LuPone said something like, it’s worse to be ignored than to be trashed.

Poor Carolee. Always the shining moment in dull show.

I got Dress Circle E2 last week.

Michael R. Jackson's new musical 'White Girl in Danger' to premiere Off-Broadway in March 2023  Mar 15 2023, 11:22:47 PM

Like the posters above said it was LONG. During the first act I kept expecting the last few songs to be the act one finale. I agree with the poster who said it shines when it leans into the camp/soap opera aspects. The show has strong Heathers vibes. Audience seemed to enjoy it… some A LOT. Music was fine, one of the early songs has a very similar melody to “Exile in Gayville.” Probably need to cut an hour+ of material… would be better as a tight one act, but what wo

Goldstar had $40 tickets at one point

Jesse Green On 2022's Broadway Cast Albums  Jan 25 2023, 11:00:02 PM

I feel that a lot of newer cast recordings sound too produced or the mix is off. It could just be a streaming issue since the audio quality on Spotify is miles behind Tidal or Apple Music, or a CD/vinyl, but unfortunately A Strange Loop sounds a little off to me. Still listen frequently but it’s frustrating. The Kimberly Akimbo album sounds beautiful so far and the Into the Woods album is great too. I wish the Tonys would add a category for cast reco

Advice for scoring great single ticket?  Jan 24 2023, 09:51:18 PM

I don’t think you should have a hard time trying the box office day of. Since there are 2 shows on 2/8 you’ll have better luck at rush. Funny Girl doesn’t have rush for Lea (I believe) though.

Another New Broadway-Aimed Project with Chenoweth... Any Guesses?  Jan 24 2023, 09:02:54 PM

Hopefully she does another mini residency/concert like she did for her last 2 albums. The first one sold better than the second but both did very well and were a great time. Even if she doesn’t have an album soon would love to see her in New York.

Fav non-original Sondheim orchestrations  Dec 10 2022, 11:02:02 AM

Marianne Elliott’s Company had good orchestrations that updated the 70s sound without sounding dull.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Les Misérables’ Audition Was a ’Nightmare’  Oct 28 2022, 09:32:53 PM

The movie came out in 2012 a few months after her album RED came out which truly cemented her as a force. She did have 6 Grammys at the time though. 2014 was when she achieved full superstardom.

Constance Wu, Finn Wittrock, Anna Camp to lead North American premiere of 2:22 A GHOST STORY  Oct 3 2022, 04:55:32 PM

Smart move to have a cast of film and tv actors open in LA. Hopefully this builds some social media buzz.

Night Music at Barrington Stage  Aug 11 2022, 09:46:27 AM

Saw it over the weekend and the costuming in general is bad or awkward at times. Emily, Jason, and Sierra were all very good. Most of the other cast was good too, but I found a few performances underwhelming. I found the show itself to be quite boring and long. I’m sure I’d like it more in a better production.

Into The Woods casting updates  Aug 10 2022, 07:12:30 PM

Julia will be leaving September 4 to film season 4 of High School Musical. Really sad to see her go

Into The Woods casting updates  Aug 4 2022, 07:25:06 PM

I sat there for ITW. I had a hard time seeing the front of the stage at times because of people leaning forward. I’d splurge for the orchestra.

COMPANY To Close On July 31, 2022  Jul 14 2022, 08:33:50 AM

Marlothom said: "Just got closing night ticket! I was supposed to see this show before the shut down, and then before the Omicron outbreak, so glad I finally get to see it. Only ORCH-C seats they had were pretty far behind, does the overhang ruin the view at all? I've never been to a Broadway closing night - so excited!"

You’ll be good. From what I remember some of the proscenium gets cut off but none of the show itself.

Beanie Feldstein Departing FUNNY GIRL on July 31 (Two Months Earlier Than Originally Announced)  Jul 10 2022, 10:42:35 PM

I remember when this production was in London and everyone hated it and dragged the star for missing performances and for her performance. History repeats itself.
