Oscars 2021 - The Year of Movie Musicals?  Jan 20 2020, 07:40:24 PM

My bad, I remember people saying she was potentially in it, I have updated my predictions.

Oscars 2021 - The Year of Movie Musicals?  Jan 20 2020, 03:44:01 PM

We have multiple movie musicals coming out before next awards season, and I am curious to know what everyone thinks the films chances are at the Oscars. I know it's way too early, but it's fun to speculate. This is just for the major categories.

In the Heights:

Lead Actor for Anthony Ramos,  Original Song,

Everybody's Talking About Jamie:

Unsure, but Lead Actor is a possibility

Rebel Wilson - Broadway?  Dec 22 2019, 12:52:27 PM

Rebel Wilson said during her interview with Richard Ridge that she was supposed to workshop a musical that was supposed to be coming to Broadway but it fell through.. Does anybody have insight as to what show that was? She also mentioned that a director approached her to replace in a currently running show, any ideas for that?

She mentioned that she is specifically interested in originating a role, does anybody have thoughts as to what shows coming to Broadway she would be good for? Ei

The IN THE HEIGHTS Film Adaptation Thread  Dec 13 2019, 09:32:08 PM
Given the release date, do we think this movie will campaign for The Oscars? Any guesses on early potential nominations? Oscars 2021 are looking VERY musical with WSS, ITH and The Prom.
The IN THE HEIGHTS Film Adaptation Thread  Dec 12 2019, 11:56:45 AM
I've never seen or listened to In The Heights until now, and the movie looks good. My question is.. the music sounds almost identical to Hamilton.. why did everyone act like Hamilton was ground breaking and amazing when Lin literally already did that type of music with a different story? No need to be a d*ck, this is a serious question.
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA musical to premiere in Chicago, summer 2020  Sep 20 2019, 04:12:36 PM

The ones that I think could work would be Donna Murphy (obvious choice), Audra (inspired choice), or Patti LuPone (interesting choice but could work).

Live Action Little Mermaid - Ursula?  Jun 30 2019, 06:27:12 PM

Does anybody have any thoughts as to who could actually be playing Ursula in The Little Mermaid? I know Melissa McCarthy is reportedly in talks, but I do not think she is a great choice. Lizzo also expressed interest online, but I think she would be okay.

My top pick 100% would be Ginger Minj. Ginger can sing, act and murder every aspect of the role. Anybody who has doubts, look at her on RPDR Season 7 performing "Eggs, eggs, eggs." She would be flawless.

Next for Samantha Barks?  May 22 2019, 09:52:39 PM

Why in hell would Samantha replace Rosalie? She's totally wrong for the role.

Rosalie will do the role

If you could choose one show to transfer for next season, which do you choose?  May 22 2019, 06:12:47 PM

Company would be ideal but give me Samantha Barks or Anne Hathaway instead of Rosalie Craig. If Patti does not want to transfer or is busy, who else could take her role? Meryl Streep? Christine Baranski? Christine Ebersole?

Now that she has a departure date from Pretty Woman what do we think/hope she is up to next? I am hoping she will be in the Company revival replacing Rosalie Craig, or I would love to see her take on Elphaba in the Wicked film, since I heard it is starting pre-production shortly.

Live From Lincoln Center - Stars in Concert 2018 (Ashford, Hilty, Erivo)  May 19 2019, 04:00:17 PM

Has anyone been watching these on PBS?

I found Annaleigh's to be the best one of the series by far, including the shows from last year. I love Cynthia Erivo but I found her concert to be painfully boring, and one note. My rankings of the shows so far:

#1 - Annaleigh Ashford

**By a WIDE Margin**

#2 - Andrew Ranells

#3 - Sutton Foster

#4 - Stephanie J Block

**By a WIDE margin**

#5 - Leslie Odom Jr

LADY GAGA IN WICKED?  Feb 14 2019, 05:40:03 PM

Of any A-Listers I would certainly say Lady Gaga. Out of anybody, I think Samantha Barks is the perfect choice. I said it when she sang Defying Gravity on I'd Do Anything, but her voice has grown so much in the last 11 years that I would love to see what she does with the role.

Full Dream Cast:

Elphaba: Samantha Barks, Lady Gaga, Vanessa Hudgens

Glinda: Dove Cameron, Anna Kendrick

Fiyero: Darren Criss, Derek Hough

Boq: Daniel Radcliffe, Darren Criss

King Kong Seating  Nov 15 2018, 07:56:10 PM

I went with Row B, still ended up paying the $399 each for the four of us going. I'm sure it will be great to see the puppet that close even if its not a great show.

King Kong Seating  Nov 15 2018, 02:38:04 PM

Hey all,

I am looking to buy tickets to King Kong, and I want the best seats possible. On Telecharge they have "KONGPREM" seats for $399.00 and it is Center Orchestra, Row A. Does anyone know if that is actually a great seat? I'm not interested in hearing whether or not I should spend that kind of money on Kong, I just don't want it to be too close to the stage.

Alternatively, they have Center Orchestra, Row B for $275.00. Which would be a better seat option?

Brandon Victor Dixon, Vanessa Hudgens, Keala Settle, Jordan Fisher Set for Fox's Rent Live!  Oct 29 2018, 02:14:40 PM
WOW. WHAT A CAST. I'm hoping this will be the best live musical yet.
A Star Is Born review. WOW!  Oct 8 2018, 05:52:29 PM

I saw this movie 4 times this weekend and now I have calmed down from the excitement so I can share my thoughts.

Firstly, Gaga is incredible. She is so scaled back, and almost unrecognizable which is refreshing to me.

As a huge Bradley Cooper fan, I honestly don't think he has ever been better. Truly a remarkable performance.

I think the cinematography, costumes, makeup, and supporting cast are top notch.

You would not be able to tell that this was Cooper's

Broadway Grosses  Oct 8 2018, 05:42:36 PM

I live in Canada where it is Thanksgiving today, I did not realize it was Columbus Day in the States. That explains it. Thanks.

Anyone know why the grosses haven't been posted for last week yet?

Next Jenna in Waitress  Oct 7 2018, 06:10:24 PM

anislander said: "Probably would never happen, but Lea Michele as Jenna and Darren Criss as Dr. Pottamer would sell so well."

I have some issues with Lea Michele, but she is talented. I would easily go see this show again for this duo, and they have amazing chemistry which would be incredible. Now I can't get this idea out of my head..
