Profile: This is Linzy. I love me some Broadway, but it's not currently what I want to do. I prefer the Opera stage, and hope to be starring at the Met one day. :)

But, I STILL will be Christine Daae, I promise you, or Carlotta... whatever.

Les Mis Filming Has Started  Apr 15 2012, 09:40:06 AM
It looks like Eponine has her fair tucked in to her hat and it's the end of her hair coming out, not bangs, which if she was trying to blend in with the boys would make sense.
Opera Stars you want on the Broadway Stage  Jun 13 2011, 11:18:57 PM
I'm going to have to speak and disagree with the fact that opera singers have no presence, or acting experiences. Having just graduated with my degree in vocal performances, I can tell you I'm just as versed as any straight theatre actor on Stanislavsky, Felsenstein, etc. I've had acting classes out the wazoo, because that's what opera is nowadays.

Especially with the new crop of opera singers, i.e. Gunn, Damrau, Dessay, they have taken acting in opera to a whole different level.

I concur with you about the audience reaction Mister Matt. I believe I saw it the same night as Helene (Friday, correct me if I'm wrong) and I've never seen a happier audience. I was in a box seat and got to see some fantastic reactions with laughter and applause stopping the show multiple times. I also witnessed them leaping to their feet at curtain. So I feel safe to say that much of the audience really enjoyed the show and did not leave with an unhappy face.

Every time I went the show was sold out, had standing ovations upon first opening. I've gotta say that I think the Chicago audiences loved it.

can't wait to see what's in store for it in NYC.

Wow. Pretty sure I saw the exact opposite of a show as Helene. I saw the show the same night, Krysta was perfectly in tune and her acting and facial expressions were wonderful.

Everyone knows Bebe's voice isn't perfect, she's a dancer. You get over it. Would I prefer Rachel De Benedet on the recording? Of course, but i'd rather have Bebe as the character and dancer.

Carolee sells the show and is far more than a silly character.

Yes there are still a few problems,

re: Met Opera Chorus anyone?  Feb 16 2009, 05:11:34 PM
Yeah, it's pretty sad when many peoples' dreams are your back up, and something you're hoping to get out of.

All I know is thank GOD that I'm still working on my Vocal Performance degree and not auditioning with you, or else you would have a very unhappy Soprano coming after you.

re: Dirty Dancing WHAT IS THIS  Nov 27 2008, 07:49:43 PM
I know shpants... I've apparently lived in a hole.

But I was happy I hadn't seen it, since I didn't have any preconceived notions about the stage version.

But i also LOVED the sub plots they added in, especially with the mother and the father, and just a little bit more of the sister. I wish that was in the movie actually when I watched it the day after.

I saw this as a person who has never seen the movie, and I didn't hate it...

I liked to call it 'the movie, on stage, with incidental music'

The pacing sucks. They were trying to get two second bits of the movie, and it just made it sooo slow.

I thought the dancing was great, and I liked the use of the cameras on the actors while it is being displayed during the scene. It's a great use of the technology front being applied to theatre.

Maybe the only reason I

Julia Murney.

It's absolute perfection. She is the role to me.

re: Audience Character breakers  Aug 24 2008, 04:05:03 PM
Only one comes to mind.

i was an ensemble part in Oliver! And it was right after Oom-pa-pa! when Nancy is getting it from Bill Sykes. He's pulling her hair whilst in the bar and trying to get her to be a spy to get Oliver back. So the ensemble is sitting and watching in shock and awe when Bill slaps Nancy. Then all the sudden from the audience, (sunday matinee y'know?) screams out "SLAP HIM RIGHT BACK!"

The rest of us bit the inside of our cheeks, trying not to break charac

PQ tough love  Nov 23 2006, 01:53:21 PM
I believe you saw the same show I did. On the 17, when the show had to be stopped due to the English lad stuck in the netting? It was a great show.

I thought it was phenomenal. My friend and I, who are both Vocal Performance majors, loved the show. THe only real problems we saw were with pacing. I thought she became 'pirate queen' too quick, and over a simple sword fight.

Other than that I loved the show. I loved the gutsy-ness it had with the lines like 'I will crush tho

re: Les Miz revival - production photos  Nov 8 2006, 08:20:42 PM
Why is ValJean ripping open his shirt and showing the scar on his chest in the one picture?

Am I having a brain fart... because I can't remember anything that would call for that in the show.

re: Spamalot Toronto  Aug 23 2006, 03:59:00 PM
I saw the tour in Chicago and pretty much fell in love with the cast. David Turner is the best part. He is FANTASTIC and not to mention adorable and talented. I can't rave about him enough.

I loved Pia Glenn... but her vibrato is what drove me insane. It started out right after the note, instead of gradually going into it. But she was hilarious, and beautiful.

and as for the end of Diva's Lament, I think they wanted to switch up the ending. Because I also saw Pia's unders

re: Question about Les Miserables Cast Recordings...  May 30 2006, 04:48:57 PM
OLC, I personally love it. Especially the flawless Enjolas*sp* and Marius. But Eponine... is so... TERRIBLE. Her whiny voice annoys me, hence why I have to skip over most of my favorite songs.
re: Spamalot Tour Question: Piano Cadenza  May 29 2006, 11:21:02 AM
Is there sheet music for the piano cadenza out there at all? I really want to learn how to play it.
re: Spamalot Tour Question: Piano Cadenza  May 27 2006, 10:59:10 PM
I didn't really see any improvising in Chicago. There were a few differences, unless I really don't know any Chicago homage songs.
re: Sara Ramirez in Grey's Anatomy  May 19 2006, 11:50:07 PM
I think Sara is beautiful on that show. She's a normal woman, and that's what I like best about her. She works out with George, when he slams her up against the wall and says 'Don't fight me.' He cares for her.. and they're sweet.

So what's the big deal? I'm a chunky, 5'9 girl who totally respects her.

re: POTO National Tour  Apr 16 2006, 04:46:10 PM
I saw it in November... so I haven't seen the new Christine or Raoul... but Gary Mauer, the man who plays the Phantom is THE most PHENOMENAL thing to hit that show. The man is amazing and he is my favorite part of the show. I'm hopefully going to see it again when it comes to Kalamazoo just so I can get his autograph.

Gary Mauer=Amazing

If the rest of the cast sucks... you'll atleast be thrilled you saw him.

re: Kids and Les Miserables?  Apr 14 2006, 11:22:26 AM

I saw the musical when I was in third grade. As I look back on it now, did I understand Fantine selling herself? Not really. But I understood Valjean and Javert, and Fantine having to give up her child and such.

There are parts of it I understood and didn't understand. But all I knew was I loved the music and the spectacle.

Now I sit back and watch the anniversary movie saying, Now I get it!

re: The OFFICIAL Rent on DVD Thread  Feb 21 2006, 09:41:45 PM
I do wholeheartedly agree with the fact that the rest of Goodbye Love, should have been left in. As I'm watching Roger just rip into Mark, it was truly emotional. The whole scene left me in such a state. It was beautiful, and Adam, and Anthony just acted the **** out of that scene.

And Brava to Rosario Dawson, who is frikkin' amazing.
