Billie Piper to reprise her Olivier Winning performance in  Mar 27 2018, 10:55:36 PM

I saw this tonight ( Tuesday) which also seemed to be their official opening night?

I'm honestly speechless. Do not miss it. Billie Piper gives the best performance I've ever seen in NYC. Epic theatre.

I strongly recommend My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center. The Vivian Beaumont is the most unique venue on Broadway and in my view the best the city has to offer. The show is spectacular and lush.

Re: Highest Judge of All

I have never seen a production of Carousel use the song. Perhaps everybody is copying the NT/LCT choice. I considered myself a Carousel fan for years and I was legit shocked when he started singing it in this production.

CAROUSEL (2018) Previews  Mar 10 2018, 12:03:49 AM

Tonight (Friday, March 10) featured "The Highest Judge of All" which was cut out of town during the original Broadway production. Very strange choice to put it back.

FROZEN Previews  Feb 28 2018, 05:54:27 PM

I was at the first preview. I dunno what she wore in Denver, but in ACT 2 that night she wore kind of like a slip dress with no shoes. My friend and I thought it may have been a little too sexy...

Angels In America Revival: Thoughts and Review  Feb 26 2018, 05:15:05 AM

I actually know quite a bit about the real Roy Cohn. I first saw Angels in America during the 03 HBO miniseries. The portrayal and the writing was so mean spirited and over the top that I looked into him to try and get a realistic view of him. I was left thinking that he was one of the greatest Americans of all time. A true believer that a small federal government was the best way for all Americans to prosper. I hope someday the Kushner estate is forced to pay damages to Cohn's ances

Angels In America Revival: Thoughts and Review  Feb 25 2018, 04:27:48 PM

I cannot believe people like this play so much. I have always found it vapid, overly long, occasionally slanderous and downright mean spirited. It's shameful the way Kushner wrote the Roy Cohn character.

Cohn passionately believed in his politics as passionately as Kushner believes in his. Kushner makes no attempt to write Roy as anything other than a cartoon villain who's actively trying to ruin the world.

I will be skipping this.

Tony Winners  Nov 25 2017, 11:45:11 AM

I've got a future one: Ben Platt.

It will all be downhill for Platt after DEH. Especially since he wants to transition to a recording artist. HA! Producers have already done his Pops a solid, I doubt they'll need to keep casting Ben to curry favor and get help with future productions.

Why wouldn't Connor Murphy's parents check Connor's phone for texts from Evan?  Oct 13 2017, 02:52:06 PM

The real answer: Marc Platt insisted on getting his son a Tony Award for his birthday.

I can't imagine what it must be like to be you and Smidge and be so triggered by reading opinions that differ from your own. That must be tough...and boring.

ASSASSINS coming to Encores Off-Center  Jul 12 2017, 07:03:25 PM

Wishing everyone who attends good luck and safety. Steven "Pee Pee Tapes" Pasquale is quite unpredictable and unhinged. I certainly wouldn't wanna be in the same room as him.

The Great Comet afterlife  Jul 11 2017, 07:51:52 PM

Rent at the Nederlander comes to mind.

Obviously that was on a much smaller scale that Great Comet's renovations, but I recall seeing Rent around the time it closed and wondering how another show would ever play that theatre. The outside was covered with graffiti and the balcony was lined with a dirty metal bar. Obviously they did a major renovation before the next tenet opened.

HA! Looks like this one got so triggered that someone isn't

Black Billy (Carousel Revival)  Jul 10 2017, 08:05:02 PM

Why not Platt Billy?

Hercules Dream Cast  Jul 10 2017, 08:02:59 PM

Is Marc Platt producing?

Hercules: Ben Platt

In the spirit of my first thought - Perhaps Theater Guy should explore nefarious contributions

I was planning on seeing this one. Very excited about it indeed.

but then they announced the deranged Steven Pasquale was starring in it and I will have to pass. The man is so unhinged and crazy on twitter that I seriously worry about the safety of anyone alone in a room with him. And he's playing Booth? I hope the secret service have their eyes on him.

Panda Express is irrelevant and unrelated to the story. Follow the money!!

It's clear that Marc Platt helped them fast track this mediocre musical to Broadway and then ran an a bullying PR campaign to instill in everyone's mind that Ben was giving the best performance ever. He then engineered Jake G and Jon Jon B to be taken out of consideration clearing the way for a bought Tony.
