INTO THE WOODS Previews  Jul 11 2022, 02:24:52 AM

This is truly one of the best productions of Sondheim's work to date.
It might not have everything you'd expect from the show typically, but like many have said, the simplicity works and forces the cast to mine the text to bring the show to life. Sondheim would be very proud.

The opening tonight was on fire, literally it was insanely hot in the St. James between the weather, crowd, and amount of pure energy in the room. Huge ovations throughout the whole night, a

Shameful behavior of the audience member. What is "a patriot" doing at a Sondheim genderbent musical?

I simply cannot wait to see what Julie does with this role. If all goes well, this could be the start of huge things for her.

It’s not announced and They honestly may not for a bit. But it’s sides of orchestra, most are partial view I would say.

Yes the play is narration heavy, but there definitely is dialogue in the play as well. Mendes uses the narration to enhance the storyte

The Lehman Trilogy Previews Thread  Mar 8 2020, 12:02:01 AM

The Lehman Trilogy, directed by Sam Mendes, starring Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Ben Miles began previews tonight.

I have to say my intuition was right when I was quite disappointed to miss this last year at the Armory, as it is truly a masterpiece work of theatre.

You can feel the effortlessness in both the direction and the acting, as this is the 4th leg of the production (2 London, 2 NYC), and the cast did not skip a single beat.

The direction tells the story

COMPANY!
Wow. I think this thread needs to focus more on two main things that make this production truly stellar. Marianne Elliott truly has a different and unique vision for the show. There was never a moment where I questioned any of the changes from “Bobby” to “Bobbie”. In fact, some sections like “Not Getting Married” and “Barcelona” are easily the best they’ve ever been.
Secondly, this is easily one of the best supporting casts ever assembled. I am in the camp that Katrina’s voice i

Jokes, lines, or songs that dont sit right anymore  Feb 20 2018, 09:57:30 AM

Y'all got to realize that a lot of these things are INTENTIONALLY uncomfortable and are supposed to make the audience feel uneasy. They are depictions of imperfect human beings. The world is not so nice all the time, and it has only improved to the place we are at now. We need the reality of the past to inform us on the future.

Thoughts on the current Hamilton BROADWAY cast  Oct 17 2017, 01:52:27 PM

I honestly thought Euan Morton was great as George, by far the most realistic choice to play KGIII yet. He has to work for the audience's approval, compared to the previous actors in the role so far who have all been well known. Daniel Breaker is literally INCREDIBLE as Burr. He is less physically and presence wise then  Odom, Dixon and Henry, naturally, and this works so well for the part. You can clearly see in his portrayal how Hamilton would be easily more likable and popular tha

Worst- Charlie, Disaster, Prince of Broadway

Bernadette To Replace Bette?  Jul 5 2017, 11:59:29 AM

Bernadette and Patti are really the preferable options here. The current queens of Broadway if you ask me. Barbara and Meryl would both be glorious, but I doubt they'd take part.
