MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG Reviews Apr 24

I was also at the matinee today. I didn’t expect to like it because I’m not a Sondheim guy and my only other experience with this show was that terrible L.A. production a few years ago, but I thought it was really good. All three leads were impressive.

And so they won't replace, and their July closing is final. Why so desperate for an extension?"
The question is, why does it bother you when people talk about extensions?

Jesus. They give us something new and fun to do that they absolutely didn’t have to do and that no one is required to participate in and people still complain about it.

That surprised me, too. Not that Company is winning but that it's winning in such a landslide. I've actually never seen either one but I've listened to the cast recordings for both and I much prefer ALNM's score to Company's.

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS Opening Night Critics' Reviews Mar 22

It is a fascinating face-off: a musical written by men based on a popular romance novel written by a woman versus a musical written by women based on a popular romance novel written by a man. It’ll be interesting to see which one comes out on top.

That's not remotely what they said, nor did they say anything racist.

As someone who had zero interest in this movie because I don’t like the show, I thought the trailer looked good and it made me want to see the movie.

I was there last night and when Audra stood up, I had no idea who she was. I vaguely know the name, but I know nothing about her. So it was a disappointing producer for me, but ever

Bye Fleance!"
I mean, it’s a three-hour show with a huge cast and set and it costs less than a Broadway show. I’d say their prices are more than reasonable. I’m also not sure what “work&

Devastating news. This show literally changed my life and it’s been a staple of my annual trips to NY for eight years. Bummed I never got to the sixth floor.

Cursed Child... right or wrong to support? Sep 14

Rowling is not anti-trans. She just thinks biological sex shouldn't be ignored. That's not at all the same as being anti-trans. She's said repeatedly that she's not anti-trans. Eddie/Suzy Izzard said she's not anti-trans. When like 90% of the world actually is anti-trans, Rowling's opinions should be the least of anyone's concerns.

Legitimate question because I'm not as familiar with her recent work, but why would she be an obvious choice? I can't really say I've thought of her as capable to handle a role

Jesus Christ Superstar Back On Broadway? Jun 19

I mostly learned about the New Testament from Jesus Christ Superstar (and Passion of the Christ, and one or two other Jesus movies). I've never found it remotely hard to follow.

COLOR PURPLE movie musical currently in development May 24

I liked the Broadway revival (didn't see the original) but I have my doubts that this will translate well to the screen. The Spielberg film is good but deeply flawed and weird in a lot of ways, and this movie looks like the same thing but with musical numbers, and without Spielberg's visual sense or the Allen Daviau cinematography. I think there was a reason the staging of the revival worked so well and this movie is a move in the opposite direction. Also, personally, I'm not sure

And that sounds like something a bisexuality-denying gay man would say. I

Saw this last night. I thought Jenni Barber was hilarious and Graham Phillips had a lovely voice. That's about all I can say that's positive. I'm not a Sondheim fan and this show is a crushing bore.
