They have canceled their Broadway run due to the “crowded landscape.

Des McAnuff will direct Cash bio-musical, THE BALLAD OF JOHNNY AND JUNE, at La Jolla (May-July 2024)  Apr 25 2024, 07:54:30 PM

Snow from the roof of her car, no? Even more disturbing

Granted, the press release did mention the "ongoing health and safety concerns" with COVID as a reason for the cancellation, but I've always assumed there was more to the story, given the fact that virtually every other theatre was back open. And in retrospect, the fact that Signature didn't reschedule it.”

Kind of similar. The Outsiders had initially announced a tryout at the Goodman in Chicago for the summer of 2020(obviously that didn’t happen). The show was still in the Goodmans “return” season for 2021/2022. By the time January 2022 rolled around it was announced they were “postponingThe Outsiders and scheduled Life After in its place. Obviously, The Outsiders never actually made it back to The Goodman and I guess La Jolla picked it up.

Seems like a small cast, no ensemble?

^similarly, you could say The Minutes. Not only did they reopen after another show reopened the theatre, they even had to move to a new venue from where they were performing previously.

I certainly hope the Laurie Metcalf Virginia Woolf can pull this off at some point down the line. Even if it’s a completely new production/creative team.

Adam Guettel & Bob Martin's MILLIONS will premiere at Alliance Theatre in Spring 2025, directed by Bartlett Sher  Apr 25 2024, 12:05:45 PM

As long as they keep the talking trash can.

ATG has its own ticketing system, it’s called ATG Tickets. The Hudson and Lyric Theatres both use it.

Lol at the $25 increase for Doubt. I guess they went out with a bang!

CABARET at the Kit Kat Club (2024) Opening Night Critics' Reviews  Apr 21 2024, 11:16:21 PM

I’m curious If broadway audiences are too hung up on the Rob Marshall/Sam Mendes revival and that’s why this revival is receiving middling reviews. Comparatively, London never got the Marshall/Mendes production, nor did it come back for a return engagement like it did on broadway. They never had that production to compare this current one to.

The Notebook - Original Broadway Cast Recording  Apr 21 2024, 06:46:28 PM

I hope they can perform “coda” on a talk show or the tony awards. I love that song and can listen to it over and over.

Ahh, my 17 year old self was an interesting creature. To be young again.

Logistic to International tours?  Apr 17 2024, 11:07:39 PM

Interesting stuff! When an equity tour leaves the US to play mexico or when the pippin tour (I think it was the pippin tour) went to Japan the performers just didn’t have their union protection? Or would those be exceptions?

Having been based in Cleveland for a couple of years now, I can say that the support for the arts and other cultural activities are quite strong here and is seen not just at Playhouse Square, but in many other ways as well. For example, the Cleveland Orchestra is considered topsin the country and rout

Logistic to International tours?  Apr 17 2024, 10:14:37 PM

Please let me know if these are dumb questions; I'm sure the answers are, more or less, a case by case scenario. I was wondering how do they normally work, in regards to the performers and their contracts. Currently, the Hamilton international tour has performers from all over the world. The Hamilton int'l tour rehearsed in New York, so I presume its cast are employed with AEA contracts. I'm sure its a different scenario for shows that don't employ American actors, l

Hairspray (Revival)  Apr 17 2024, 08:51:49 PM

Give it another 20 years and then let Daniel Fish rip it a part.

anytime the website has said the 20for20 “sold out” I would call the box office and they ended up having 20for20 tickets available. At least, that’s just my experience.

I haven’t done the pay what you want, but I’ve done the 20 for 20 deal for every show at Steppenwolf with great success

LEMPICKA Reviews  Apr 15 2024, 08:01:06 PM

After thinking on the Lempicka reviews it made me remember that there was this thread giving the creative team some advice. I’m curious if there is anything that would stop a show from implementing the changes described in that thread and has a show ever done it? Where they read the advice of a comment or post about the show and then implemented changes according to the post?

Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler to star in ROMEO & JULIET on Broadway?  Apr 15 2024, 03:22:18 PM

Oh, I was under the impression Mantello “ghost-directed” the show. Must be conflating the story it with another show.
