New Hadestown Casting  Apr 30 2024, 02:49:02 PM

It feels almost forbidden to bring up this topic anymore, but I’m going to anyway - does anyone know if Ani DiFranco has been doing the stage door beyond her opening night, when we know she did?

I haven’t been to a stage door since 2018, but I’d make an exception for a chance to meet her after the show. She’s such a hero of mine.

I’m rather shocked to see no one discussing how she’s doing in the run!

Thank you.

That concert actually made me resent the show. Absolutely dreadful. I hope I am cleansed of the memory soon!

I must say that when I saw this my stomach churned, and I love Eden.

It’s hard to imagine this ad selling more than one block’s worth of tickets to a single performance, which makes me think they must already be on tenterhoo

It was thrilling to see (and especially to hear!) how Lenk's performance has grown, and I agree with some other assessments - I recall being blow away by Conte during previews, less so this week.

I also wanted to come here and give a little shout out to Terrence Archi

I DMd you!

Where did you read this?

I hope he will be on Wednesday - I’m taking my mom to the matinee, and it’s no small undertaking to get here there.

I had to cancel my entire NY trip two weeks ago due to COVID and Telecharge stated that an official COVID diagnosis from a medical practice was required (home test results not acceptable). I was extremely ill and did not have the time or physical ability to obtain this, and eventually a manager said he would contact the theatres and request appr

I have tickets for next Wednesday.

It's very possible the person I'm taking has Covid. We are awaiting test results.

If she tests positive, has Telecharge been good about exchanging for a later date?

I've never had to ask to do that before.

Question for those who have seen it:

I won't spoil the circumstances for those who haven't seen it, but there is a scene where Julie White puts on a rubber glove. Last night, the glove began to rip, and White leaned it it by continuing to rip the glove more and more, until it was missing several fi

How many times has been Beanie bean out at this point? Does anyone have a count?

It seems like an awful lot. I can’t help but think that there’s a lack of respect for the audience, many of whom adore her and specifically went out of their way to see her. It takes so much planning and sacrifice of time and money to get to the theater.

It just feels like something sacred has been lost. And I say that as one who could never handle eight shows a week as a musical c

"Keeping Company with Sondheim" Documentary streaming this friday  May 28 2022, 12:43:08 AM

Ravenclaw said: "Enjoyable documentary, even if most of the stories have been told many times before. However, I've gotten really frustrated by all the people pushing autobiographical reads of Sondheim's work. He so frequently shot those down ("The only autobiographical song I've ever written was 'Opening Doors'" when he was alive, and I wish people would respect his wishes and not project his characters onto his own life."

I only take exception when people present their perceptions about potential autobiographical threads in his songs as fact when that is merely speculation.

I hold my own feelings, but I'd never present them as fact. I'd refer someone to his own biblical texts on his work and work and process.

I'm glad I came here and saw this.

I had a whole day planned around seeing the matinee of this show with my friends.

Now I'll rearrange my weekend to see the final performance on Sunday.

I'm sorry my friends will now miss this show.

Ray Liotta Dies at Age 67?  May 26 2022, 07:58:09 PM

I got to actually work with him on camera in an episode of “Shades of Blue,” where he sort of stared me down in intimidation in a prison scene. It’s one of the highlights of my acting life.

Ironically, I didn’t get a chance to actually speak to him, which is too bad, because I share a mutual friend with him and he would have loved to know I know her. She is devastated today. She’s known him since he was a teenager and she was his teacher in high school.

Community Theater  May 24 2022, 11:50:33 PM

My work in community theater propelled me to years of acting training (Esper Studio) and joining Equity.

You have to start somewhere. Not all of us are Timothee Chalamet or a Kristen Stewart or a Gyllenhaal or a Deschanel. The greatest gift is being surrounded by professionals from birth. I wonder what it would have been like to be Lily Rabe and grow up thinking of Pacino as “Uncle Al.” I can only dream of such a thing.

Back when I was still doing community theater,
