CABARET at the Kit Kat Club (2024) Opening Night Critics' Reviews  Apr 22 2024, 09:20:19 AM

Maybe they can do what they did with Funny Girl.  Bring Lea in as Sally to save the day . smileyAnd wouldn’t it be neat if Jake Shears reprised his turn as his Tammy show plays a few blocks away?

Audiences loved it .  Audiences are not loving this .  Sunset will do very well.

Jordan Catalano said: "There’s a “preshow” you watch. Theres tables you sit at (if you paid that much money) and there’s dancers who dance in front of you. It is not immersive."

Jordan; on this one I disagree with you.  From the moment I entered the theater Friday night the show began.  The shnaps, the hallways, the bars.. all created for this illusion .  We can disagree.  It was too much.

Thank you.  This particular quote I agree with whole heartedly.

“There’s a school of thought that Liza Minnelli, who won an Oscar for her rendition of Sally Bowles in the brilliant film adaptation of “Cabaret,” was too accomplished a performer for the role.

The  LA times review is right on point .  I can’t link it for some reason .

So.. can Broadway now be done with the immersive crap?

These are really bad reviews.

Timeout basically pans it.

This is why most of my theatre money goes to subscriptions in the DC area. With any of my tickets I can call as late as one hour before curtain and they will exchange , no questions asked

The woman seated next to me was sick.  That was not allergies.  She also was sweating .

This is not going to last long enough to go thru all that.

Jake was wonderful.  Not that much different than what Eddie is doing. But I did prefer him. Probably because I am a fan.

I really did not care for this.  But I don’t think I’m the demographic.

Last night at Stereophonic the woman next to me started blowing her nose and coughing .  By intermission it was very evident she was congested .  She should not have been there.  I know I will have her cold in a few days.  There was nowhere to move and I had a friend with me sitting in a separate section.

Old East .  And the arc is in the writing .  Not in Redmeynes performance.  Which is good .. but let’s not get carried away.

I was there tonight as well.  I enjoyed it.  But I didn’t find anything earth shattering about anyone’s performance.  Eddie Redmayne could have been anyone up there.  The leg space in the mezz is a killer.  Loved all the drinking before the show.  But it was a well behaved crowd.  Lots of well dressed handsome men everywhere.  Was there a group thing?  Just finished answering the survey they sent out.  Interesting questions includi

BTW;  They seem to be following the same plan as Lea's run.  Understudy goes on for Fanny on Thursdays.

Funny Girl National Tour LA stop  Apr 4 2024, 10:23:40 PM

Went to the first night of the tour at the Ahmanson.  Nice to be in a packed theater.  The tour is good. The physical production looks more elegant without the circular mirrored turntable wall ( or whatever that was).  Katerina has a gorgeous voice.  It brings to mind Eydie Gorme.  At last nights performance she was perhaps just a tad to slick in the role.  She was delivering a great Fanny but you could tell she was going from point A to B.  What a treat to
