Drama Desk Nominations ‘24  Apr 29 2024, 12:50:30 PM

Alex Kulak2 said: "11 nominations for Dead Outlaw and 8 forThe Connector."

Love to see it. Release that Dead Outlaw album sooner than later, please.

2024 Tony Predictions  Apr 28 2024, 01:23:06 PM

If I can chose only one nomination, it would be Imperioli in An Enemy of the People. If I can expand that to three, I would like to see Paul Alexander Nolan finally earn a nom and for Reg Rogers to be included in the Merrily wave.

Love all these Dead Outlaw noms. Now where's my cast album?

THE GREAT GATSBY Broadway Previews  Apr 18 2024, 11:18:51 AM

MrsSallyAdams said: "Does the show allow for a GBQ reading of Nick? The films all cut Nick's ambiguous hook up with Mr. McKee but some lean into the idea that he's more infatuated with Gatsby than with Jordan Baker."

I remember reading Gatsby in either 7th or 8th grade and naturally assuming that Nick was gay and Jordan was his ... well, I don't think the term that comes to mind is acceptable anymore. Disappointing that no major adaptat

Favorite spots for Pre-Broadway Drinks/Dinner  Apr 11 2024, 06:25:40 PM

Bodega on 47th and 9th. The couple behind the much missed VYNL opened this spot in December and it has a nice mix of breakfast all day, burgers, some old favorites, and specialty drinks at reasonable prices.

The only way I can budget this show is to see it without Groff or Radcliffe and I chose Radcliffe. Seeing this Tuesday night via TodayTix for $129 and the seat is great, but I'll be kicking myself for not waiting to see if this popped up on TDF!

Hedwig Fan Casting  Mar 14 2024, 09:34:05 PM

I have dreamed of Norbert Leo Butz as Hedwig for a very, very long time but I believe it is just not meant to be. I guess this is my Bernie as Mrs. Lovett moment.

AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE 2024 Previews  Mar 12 2024, 04:47:09 PM

I won the lotto for tomorrow evening's performance but can't use one of the tickets. The seat is in row A section 200s even. PM me if interested.

The moment we've all been waiting for: The Heart of Rock and Roll is up for what looks to be every preview performance.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 3/3/24  Mar 5 2024, 05:40:35 PM

Blindbutlerdeafmaid said: "They're certainly not putting out the amount of social content they were from London, that's for sure."

Seriously, it feels like every time I look at Facebook the BTTF story is about new US national tour dates. That's all very well and good, but that ain't going to get people to see it at the Winter Garden. How this show distinguishes itself during TONY season will be interesting because Best Musical is more than li

New Musical, DEAD OUTLAW, from Penna/Yazbek/Moses  Mar 3 2024, 06:08:24 PM

I saw Dead Outlaw this weekend and I'm going to echo the previous praise in this thread. My humor normally trends dark and this show definitely played to those sensibilities while also becoming quite moving. Thank heavens this is being recorded by Audible because this score is one rollicking song after another that I need to hear again. Great ensemble work here with each member getting their time to shine. This is a pretty short run at the Minetta Lane, don't miss out.

THE WHO’S TOMMY to open at the Nederlander in March 2024  Feb 24 2024, 02:26:05 PM

Tommy sings a reprise of Pinball Wizard in Act 2. Color me unimpressed by the promos but aside from the 15th anniversary concert I have never seen Tommy on stage so I'll check the revival out at some point.

Sam Mendes will direct 4 films about The Beatles (one from each member's POV) to be theatrically released by Sony in 2027  Feb 20 2024, 03:00:40 PM

As someone who took a trek to Liverpool this past spring (the National Trust tour of McCartney's family home and Lennon's Aunt Mimi's posh digs cannot be recommended enough) I'm strangely unenthused about this but open to surprises.

BACK TO THE FUTURE will transfer to Broadway in 2023  Feb 16 2024, 12:52:48 PM

Jordan Catalano said: "Saw this again the other day after not having seen it on Broadway since previews. I still enjoyed it but Casey and Roger have now devolved into almost a Laurel and Hardy bit wheneverthey’re onstage together which is ridiculous. They now seem to turn every two lines into a “bit” and keep it going and going and going, seemingly trying to make each other laugh and I just sat there waiting for a scene where they weren’t together. It’s

My cousin went to Space Camp. I still think about that from time to time and yeah, I'm still jealous. Trying to fIt this show into my life ASAP.

Michael Arden to direct musical adaptation of THE LOST BOYS, with music by The Rescues  Jan 24 2024, 06:24:40 PM

I dreamcast Polec in so many shows and approve this message.

PATRIOTS to open at the Barrymore Theatre for 12 Week Run beginning April 1st, 2024  Jan 22 2024, 10:12:49 AM

I have been waiting and waiting for this announcement and I can't be upset that Hollander isn't transferring because Stuhlbarg is one of our absolute best. Can't wait.

2024 Tony Awards  Jan 2 2024, 01:44:51 PM

This conversation has taken an interesting turn but as someone who has been a fan of Roger Bart's since the 90s ... where has the time gone ... remember that he didn't "break out" until his late 30s and that the money from tv/film was likely much more lucrative when raising two daughters hence absences from the NY stage for lengthy periods of time.

Doc Brown is a wonderful role for him though, but it never crossed my mind that it would be considered a lead. It&#

The Avett Brothers’ SWEPT AWAY musical at Arena Stage  Jan 2 2024, 10:54:49 AM

The next step for this show may be to record a l'il somethin', so fingers crossed. Regarding a transfer, the sentiment has always been one aiming for the fall which given the glut of shows opening this spring is likely for the best.
