It’s Patti’s 75th Birthday!  Apr 23 2024, 09:33:57 AM

Her painfully realistic turn as a self-obsessed mother who rejects her son on Ugly Betty was really impressive. No singing, no second appearance, just cold hard acting and out the door.

One of my favorite episodes of one of my favorite shows. I remember watching a recorded version of this episode again and again as we waited for season 2 to start. I was 10 lol

Patti is... simply no words. Greatest Broadway star of the past 50 years. Evita, Les Miserables, Sunset, Anyth

John Napier's Brilliant Set Designs for the original SUNSET BOULEVARD  Apr 11 2024, 02:35:14 PM

John Napier's Brilliant Set Designs for the original SUNSET BOULEVARD  Apr 11 2024, 12:00:12 PM

Still astonished that they toured with a pretty faithful recreation of the brilliant set. And with a relative unknown in the lead no less! Linda Balgord was the only Norma I'm aware of who sang "With One Look" without that atrocious key change at the end they added for Close. Even Buckley sang the Close keys :(

Would have been thrilling to see this on tour, but sadly I think the first tour flopped. They toured a second production with Petula Clark, but nothing near as ext

Always a blessing to have LuPone on Broadway. Great news!

The production of the Nelson version in 2018-ish was great too. I think it was Columbia?

Did the London production use the Close keys or the LuPone keys?

Thanks for the reviews! Hoping to see it when it comes to the Kennedy Center. Still deciding if I want to see Birdie too.

Wait... when did we start having to tack on "IMO" after every post? It's a message board about art, the fact that every review of a show is our opinion is obvious...

CABARET at the Kit Kat Club Previews  Apr 2 2024, 01:47:18 PM

Jordan, would you say the Olivier performance of "Cabaret" is representative of the performance Gayle gives? And of her/the director's vision of that song? It seemed like such a strident and obvious choice that it really soured my curiosity of this production.

Act 1 is way longer than Act 2, but that's just the way the show is built. There are twice as many songs in Act 1!

COMPANY Revival On Tour - News & Discussion Thread  Mar 27 2024, 12:16:51 AM

I caught this at the Kennedy Center tonight and really enjoyed it. It was my first time seeing the show live, though I had followed this production on here since it started previews on Broadway (in March of 2020!). Company has a special place in my heart. The OBC was what got me into theatre. It was my first Sondheim and the first recording I was obsessed with. I played that record over and over on the way to school every single day for a solid three month period and then fell in love with it

What are you talking about? We're talking about the actual Tony awards. Not the telecast, but the actual ceremony. The ceremony began tonight at 6:30 and went until 11:00. The Tonys ran for 4.5 hours. We're saying we feel 4.5 hours is too long for the ceremony. Just because you only watched

The 76th Annual Tony Award Nominations (2023)  Jun 11 2023, 05:06:28 PM

“Act I” of the awards should be fairly easy to catch love for those of us on the West Coast… but any suggestions/links for watching the actual awards live? Is it still on Paramount Plus?

WGA strike impact on the 2023 Tonys  May 13 2023, 03:17:18 AM

The West Coast writers need their contracts to be protected from AI, Minirooms, and truncated seasons. But numerous Broadway shows and countless jobs will be affected by this Tonys decision.

And while I respect those on here saying that the WGA strike is more important than
