Universal's WICKED Film - News & Discussion Thread  May 3 2023, 04:45:13 PM

This is really starting to look incredibly impressive. I have no doubt this will be a success, and probbaly the best/most popular modern day musical film to date. They’re caring with this project, more than other musical films lately. Gosh I’m enthralled already.

And I’ve heard it’s Beanie Feldstein…

This won’t happen. It’s likely a very minimum role in the 2 films.

Ryan & Uzele to lead NEW YORK, NEW YORK On Broadway  Mar 24 2023, 03:01:45 PM

A part of me feels this will be the biggest flop on Broadway in the modern era, or it is a massive hit in the making and will upset Kimberly and win Best Musical. The floor and ceiling are both exceedingly high and low!

Touring Cast Absences  Mar 2 2023, 03:21:00 PM

Add in, tours play FOUR shows every weekend. Every weekend, aka, the end of their work week, is the longest haul they have each week. It’s a difficult schedule. I plan my subscriptions on Saturday matinee’s as most leads are on then since it’s normally a very well sold performance. That being said, the schedule is so tricky especially with Covid, there are so many factors to why a performer may be out.

SWEENEY TODD Revival announces further casting  Feb 28 2023, 04:36:30 PM

A report I got had no complaints about the set. Set seems to serve its purpose, this isn’t The Cursed Child…

SWEENEY TODD Revival announces further casting  Feb 27 2023, 05:01:32 PM

In my opinion the design was absolutely built with touring in mind. Hopefully with the “Best Revival Of A Musical” title from the Tony’s.

I worked these last 4 weekends just incase this is as iconic as it seems and I need extra money to go.

Bloody hell this looks like a banger, my struggles appear worth it. Excited for reviews.

2023-2024 Touring Season  Feb 25 2023, 11:43:00 AM

Boston will be announcing this Wednesday, March 1st.

Email came in more black and gold/yellow… maybe The Wiz? Don’t want to get my hopes up. We are overdue for Frozen as well.

Timon3 said: "Hamilton has been confirmed to play a return engagement in Chicago,m surprised it is playing the James Nederlander Theatre, as the big tours tend to go into the Cadillac Palace Theatre. Also surprised it is the Phillips’ tour, I would have thought it would be the Peggy Tour that would come down from Toronto.

So now wonder once Toronto is done, if the Peggy Tour will wrap up and the set used for the UK Tour instead?
"

Wouldn’t shock

Kevin's Minnesota Theatre Adventures - Suzan-Lori Parks' SALLY & TOM, SIX on tour  Feb 6 2023, 02:58:22 PM

I think the “Z” is the Wiz for sure. The arrows pointed at a target is Clue, and the tea is Mrs Doubtfire. The dough and fire confuse me though.

Ryan & Uzele to lead NEW YORK, NEW YORK On Broadway  Feb 1 2023, 04:04:12 PM

This show screams to me a love letter to New York, a la the love letter to Los Angeles that was the film La La Land.

A spectacle, some few gems of songs, satisfying, quite enjoyable, but ultimately not as special as made out.

Our season launches with Funny Girl, then maybe it's The Wiz, Company, Peter Pan, A Girl From The North Country, MJ and Moulin Rouge which would make 7. We had Frozen a couple years back and Les Mis this past fall. Ooh, although I'd prefer Clue to slot in for anything except Company."

Providence, imo, tends to have better seasons. I suspect you’re mostly right.

Memphis the most underrated musical ever!  Jan 28 2023, 04:37:45 PM

Mr. Wormwood said: "I saw it on tour and had a good time. I think it's an average musical, not worthy of some of the hate it gets but also not "underrated."

Steal Your Rock 'n' Roll is quite the banger though.
"

I think this is the best assessment. It’s average to above average, but maybe didn’t need tony love. I loved the show when I saw it. Underground, Music Of My Soul, Colored Women, and Steal Your Rock and Roll are all

2023-2024 Touring Season  Jan 28 2023, 07:56:29 AM

Boston has not gotten Frozen yet, so that feels like a lock. They also haven’t gotten Moulin Rouge, but I suspect they wait one more season for that. A season witb Frozen, pre broadway The Wiz, Company, and Funny Girl I think does enough for the Boston audiences along with Peter Pan and A Girl From The North Country. I think we miss MJ and Moulin Rouge.

A return from Les Mis would be nice too.

2023-2024 Touring Season  Jan 27 2023, 04:18:52 PM

Any word on a Boston announcement? They tend to announce in Feb/March. Hamilton is playing which I imagine is doing well, good time to market your next season.

I thought this as soon as I posted my Abbie Mueller speculation. Jackie and Carolee Carmello would be a lovely treat.

COMPANY Revival On Tour - News & Discussion Thread  Jan 26 2023, 12:54:46 PM

Abbie Mueller could be a stretch but would be great. She did the Beautiful tour also. Would be a good time to showcase lead skills.

I had fun with that one.
