The Early Days of the BWW Board: Any Info??  Oct 25 2010, 02:52:09 AM
Wow. This thread just brought back some MEMORIES! I haven't posted regularly in quite a hot minute, but this board was good times back in the day. I'm an oldie too. One of those who "grew up" on the board. I remember loving MargoChanning's posts and my own correspondence with "her" while I was coming into my own as a performing artist. I can't believe how long it has been.

Bythesword - I have this memory of spork wars. Do you remember this?

Full Cast Announced for AMERICAN IDIOT; Cast to Appear on Grammy Awards  Feb 3 2010, 06:35:35 PM
I think the versatility of today's musical theatre talent pool is incredible. I'm mostly excited for this show because it has a chance to meld incredibly loyal fan bases together (Green Day and Broadway). For musical theatre to survive and thrive, it has to evolve and bring in new audience members. This show, along with similar "theatrical experiences" like Passing Strange, Fela!, Movin' Out, and even Hair, stretch the boundaries of what musical theatre can be.

I realize I may be in th

Read the blog I linked to.

And no, I haven't seen the show. I'm just incredibly intrigued by it.

edit: perhaps "revolutionize" was the wrong term. Let's go with "aid the evolution of."

I think these guys stand a chance to really revolutionize musical theatre. Call me crazy.

In honor of Carol, I wrote a blog entry. Check it out if ya wanna!

I think Lisa Brescia could surprise you.
re: The next Mary Poppins on Broadway will be...anyone??  Aug 16 2009, 08:52:14 PM
candydog2 - I think it's quite possible that the poster meant the F above high C, rather than the 5th below high C. That lower F isn't even really that impressive sung in head voice. On the other hand, SJB singing a high F...wow. I want to hear it.

I do not get the Haven Burton obsession at all. She's not in the right age range for this part. Not even slightly. How would one believe she had birthed two teenage children?

I would go ape-**** for Julia in this role. I think she and Alice have many similar qualities. It could most definitely work. After Alice, she's the actress my mind immediately jumps to for Diana.

However, I would love to hear Megan Mullally sing "I Miss The Mountains."

As for SJB, she could defin

re: Roles for female tenors?  Aug 16 2009, 01:51:06 PM
There's also the small issue of "tenor" not being applicable to the female voice. Some people jokingly refer to actresses like Lauren Bacall and Bea Arthur as tenors, but when you boil it down, tenor is a male voice classification.

If your daughter is really interested in pursuing performing arts as a career, I would highly suggest getting into private voice lessons with a good teacher. 14 is not too young to start. With some good guidance, I'm sure her voice will open up and she'll de

The LITP situation was also different because (correct me if I'm wrong) Victoria Clark wanted more time to spend with her son after the show extended for the last time.

re: MT DICTIONARY!!! WHO IS THIS? BRILLS  Jun 20 2009, 07:39:52 PM
I came across that via Andrew Keenan-Bolger's twitter. It's really entertaining. I secretly think he made it himself.
re: Nick Adams interview...shirtless in a kiddie pool...?  Jun 5 2009, 12:39:59 AM
CATSNY: That song is intended to be sung entirely in falsetto. It's supposed to sound like a woman. Even if a tenor had those notes in a chest/head mix, it would not sound like a woman.

Tory Ross is a goddess. Holy crap.

That was really hilarious. Thank you for sharing that!
re: Wicked second national tour  Jan 7 2009, 12:24:08 AM
I hadn't heard Helene Yorke's soprano range. Wouldn't have thought of her for Glinda, but I can totally see it working. I'm stoked for Kristine. I knew her back when I was in HS.

In one of the last pictures, I'm pretty sure they identified Katrina Rose Dideriksen as Keala Settle. Hmm....

Hmm... What's Eden Espinosa doing these days?

re: Hair Cast?  Dec 25 2008, 02:18:37 PM
I'm pretty sure Saycon Sengbloh is joining the cast...possibly in Patina's track. I'm pretty sure I read that on a bww photo op caption.
