Cast Replacements  Mar 19 2024, 01:28:29 PM

I just noticed that Bella Coppola is now Jane Seymour in the Toronto cast.  Does anyone know what happened to their initial Seymour?  It seemed they went out pretty early in the Toronto run and haven't been back -- this is the second US replacement to be filling in.

Golden Globes Snubs for “The Color Purple,”  Dec 11 2023, 11:18:35 PM

I've seen it (at a screening last week) and the right two performers were nominated (Brooks is far and away the best thing about the movie).  The nominations it didn't get, it doesn't deserve.

I’ll never understand why they cut down I’m Here so much and have staged it like such an afterthought.  Well, at least compared to all the huge musical numbers with Broadway-bodied dancers who just appear out of nowhere that don’t make an

Let's also not forget that 2024 is ABBA's 50th anniversary...

Symphonic version of RENT in concert in Washington DC  Jun 30 2023, 02:58:49 PM

I mean, honestly, how dare you.

I recently watched a video of the OBC and was amazed at how many vocal shenanigans have been added over the years, mucking up what was a perfectly written vocal score.  No one beats DR-V for a full-force live experience of Mimi.

Who Have You Gotten Stuff Back From?  Jun 30 2023, 02:54:48 PM

In March, I sent Lea (FUNNY GIRL) and Bonnie (KIMBERLY AKIMBO) a note, the Playbills I had from seeing their performances, and SASE with extra postage with no real expectation.  Was so pleasantly surprised to get a response from Bonnie about a month later with a personal note and my Playbill signed by the entire cast (and I know it was mine because I had the date written in it).  I sort of knew Lea's was a pipe dream...but was crossing my fingers anyway.

Side note: Has Betsy ever gone on for Bonnie?  Also, I've seen on IG that Emily Koch (married to Jim Hogan) is a Pattie/Debra u/s) ...wonder why she isn't listed on the website.

Walking Out at Intermission - The Thread  May 15 2023, 02:59:32 PM

My feeling is that if you've walked out of a show (just like a movie), I don't feel like you get to comment on the quality of the work.  You didn't stay for the whole thing?  You don't get to add your $.02.  Only those that stick it out get to speak.  I've gritted my teeth for plenty of bad productions just to say I made it out alive.  The few shows I have checked out of at intermission I've kept quiet about.

Last minute NYC trip next week - help choosing shows!  Mar 6 2023, 02:26:52 PM

Also, putting in another vote for Titanique.  They have a Saturday show at 5pm.  You could do KA matinee, hop on the subway over to Titanique, and then come back for the evening show.

KA wasn’t on my list at all when I went back in December and it wound up being the best thing I saw (aside from Lea Michele in Funny Girl which is not to be missed for any sum of money)

Looks like that the bit about BTTF has been removed from his bio.

It definitely has.  He didn’t expressly say the title or character name but it was obvious. Guess it was too obvious…

Apple TV+ Series SCHMIGADOON! - News & Discussion Thread  Feb 20 2023, 12:09:05 AM

Having blazed through this entire second season, I can safely say this blows Season 1 right out of the water.  Flat-out riotous numbers perfectly spoofing this new era while remaining musically interesting and writing that felt like it had a bigger picture mentality in mind.  I can see this season getting more awards buzz.

Krakowski steals the entire show…

Apple TV+ Series SCHMIGADOON! - News & Discussion Thread  Feb 12 2023, 02:04:25 AM

I’ve watched the first ep of Season 2 (all are available to me right now but it’s late and I need sleep) and so far this looks to be an incredibly enjoyable season.  Totally different tone, as intended, with the principal cast returning in these fun new roles mirroring the “dark” musicals from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Already the music is impressive, there’s a hysterical riff on a famous Cy Coleman song from a Fosse show that should win an Emmy.

FUNNY GIRL to Launch National Tour  Jan 13 2023, 12:16:04 AM

They should get Debbie (call me Deborah) Gibson to play Mrs. Brice and give her a full-circle Funny Girl tour moment.

Death of a Salesman Rush Tickets  Dec 29 2022, 09:24:33 AM

Overslept and missed the TodayTix rush when I was in town a few weeks back.  I figured I would check at the box office anyway just in case and they sold me a third row center seat for $45.

I’d check with the box office.

A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE AT CSC Preview Thread  Dec 12 2022, 01:00:54 AM

Saw the performance tonight, I thought Howes (and the show) were terrific.  Interesting to note, understudy Justin Scott Brown who was supposed to be on for Ernie Lally was out and Beth Kirkpatrick was on as “Elizabeth” Lally.  Talk about making it work.  At first, when I heard about the COVID of it all, I was disappointed not to see a full cast but this arrangement tonight was first-rate.

I saw that too. It was Andrea M.

And Jarynn went by Jarynn Whitney on the cruise I think, if anyone was trying to look up a clip or two.  While the American casts have far outweighed any of the European casts vocally, the cruise casts are your typically cruise performers.  Surprised they are dumping some of these talented women for such newbies.  I’d at least think the cruisers would be alternates.<
