CHICAGO Musical Director replaced  Dec 9 2018, 09:42:36 AM
I’m glad she was replaced.

That being said, it’s typical of the Weisslers to pull a stunt like having the cast “vote” because they’re too chicken**** to just fire her. I don’t think personnel decisions should be made by a vote.

100% well said.

I don't think so.  You clearly haven't been around these boards long if you think that.

Also, I thought you said you were leaving?

Man, do I wish Patti LuPone had been performing when this occurred.

I don't even like Qolbinau very much, but surely you could respond to him without writing a homophobic slur in your response.

"Butt hurt isn't a homophobic slur. How ridiculous. Twisting things to suit your agenda is pathetic.

I'm a queer academic I don't need you to define

Regarding “pacing” yourself...Miss Buckley should be more concerned with having the energy to perform every night than she is with going to visit Mickey Mouse. If she was “pacing” hers

Yeah, us poor, uncultured, rubes who dare to love outside of New York don’t deserve top quality performances!

And yes, as a previous poster pointed out, they h

She did not. And it’s bad form to be missing shows while simultaneously posting photos of your sightseeing around town.

Regardless, Midler missed one scheduled performance. Donna Murphy and Bernadette Peters missed none.  Channing’s record speaks for itself. As it was discussed in the other thread, Buckley seems quite socially active in all these places for someon

Except for the opening night, she’s missed ever show in Orlando. She also missed a bunch in Cleveland.

re: Best 'Send in the Clowns' EVER!  Dec 1 2018, 10:43:16 AM
This discussion begins and ends with Glynis Johns, whose rendition will always be definitive.

Judi Dench is a close second.

Bernadette gave a very, very broad performance as Desiree, but she always reigned it in for Clowns and delivered a shockingly understated yet terrifically poignant rendition of that number. It was by far my favorite part of her performance.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Menken/Ahrens)  Dec 1 2018, 10:34:07 AM
I used to see this every year when it played in the MSG “theater.” Despite the horrendous sight lines in there unless you sprung for one of the best seats (which I always did because otherwise you felt like the show was being performed in another zip code), it was always great fun. I got to take my nieces and nephews every year when they were old enough and they loved it, too.

My favorite Scrooge was Tony Randall, with F. Murray Abraham just behind him. Jim Dale was also excellent. Ben

Question for those who are keeping track...

Has there been a day/night yet where an audience had one performer for part 1 and then returned for part 2 and had someone else in the role?

Betty Buckley in Hello Dolly  Dec 1 2018, 12:13:13 AM

She’s wearing a poncho in the photo in question (it was on her IG story then reposted by the official Hello Dolly IG) and the only day it rained here this week was Monday, so I’m guessing that’s when it happened. I have a screenshot of it on my phone, but I have no idea how to post it. I’ll try to figure it out.

I agree that it’s bad form to be posting pictures of yourself visiting the local attractions when you only performed in one of the four s

Trump supporter- Strikes again! At wicked!  Nov 30 2018, 05:12:02 PM
I still would like one of the Trump supporters on here to hohestky answer how they can support a man whose beliefs are anathema to everything the arts stand for. I’ve been asking here for two years now and all they’ll say is “I don’t have to justify my vote to you.”

How do you reconcile it? Please enlighten me.
