Natasha Pierre vs Hamilton  Jun 3 2015, 04:46:56 AM

Natasha Pierre's chances might be helped if they secure the casting they are aiming for - a recently announced Tony Awards performer. They are very close, possibly even confirmed.

Anyone here see Sierra Boggess play Fantine?  May 30 2013, 10:49:46 AM
Her acting was great; vocally I wasn't too dazzled by her - her accent was a bit all over the place and she went into vibratoverload occasionally.
Another Family Guy Theatre Reference  Jan 26 2013, 02:41:03 PM
It WAS Alan Bennett.
Original Company Curtain Call  Sep 30 2012, 04:12:35 PM
As far as I've read, the choreography was such that Bobby was left stranded on one side of the curtain and the rest of the cast on the other, to continue his alienation from them. Not really sure how that works with Being Alive, however.
Musical songs about admitting you love someone?  Sep 17 2012, 04:41:18 AM
Mix Tape from Avenue Q is a cute take on this sort of song.
Breaking News: Douglas Hodge to Play 'Willy Wonka' in West End's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY!  Sep 7 2012, 12:58:36 PM
Martin Short is absolutely NOT a household name in the UK.
In Honor of Fashion Week: Fashion in Musicals  Sep 6 2012, 09:17:47 AM
Once my clothes were shabby
Tailors called me, "Cabbie"
Got so rough I TOOK a vow
Said this bum'll
Be Beau Brummel
Now I'm smooth and SNAPPY
Now my tailor's happy
I AM the cats meow
My wardrobe is a wow!
Paris silk! Harris tweed!
There's only one thing I need...

Bad Lyrics  Aug 31 2012, 11:08:15 AM
I love 'Blame it on your daddily and mammily / Cause depression runs in our family' is incredibly contrived and absolutely wonderful.
Intermissionless Shows  Aug 27 2012, 12:29:36 PM
I don't understand how so many people can't go two or three hours without "buying a candy bar". You are not at the theatre (or cinema for that matter) to eat, you are there to enjoy the show that's being put on for you. If you're diabetic or absolutely have to have a little energy boost, plan for that in advance, but 99% of people should be able to sit still without shoveling sweets into their jowly faces for a couple of hours.

Flubbed Lines, Miscues, Onstage Mixups by 60 Actors  Aug 23 2012, 08:02:34 AM
"Tovah Feldshuh
Theatre by the Sea, Matunuck, RI – as Sophie in Star Spangled Girl by Neil Simon – during a quick change, for some reason done onstage – the lights came on too soon. I leave the rest to your imagination."

Don't worry Tovah baby, we've seen it all.

Favorite chorus numbers?  Aug 21 2012, 08:15:54 AM
The full company chorus of All the Things You Are is hard to beat.
My Fair Lady revival  Aug 20 2012, 05:01:07 AM
Don't worry, there's still the Thompson-Mulligan-Firth film to keep us going.
Why doesn't Coleen Sexton work more!?  Aug 12 2012, 05:31:54 PM
I understand her head got too big for her pointy hat when she was in Wicked and no one wants to work with someone that notoriously difficult.
Don't know how she got on in Legally Blonde though.

Favorite Ahrens and Flaherty Songs?  Aug 11 2012, 06:57:49 AM
So much of The Glorious Ones is wonderful:

Opposite You
The World She Writes
My Body Wasn't Why
I Was Here

Imelda Staunton as Madame Rose  Aug 9 2012, 07:45:54 AM
Staunton's Lovett was a revelation. I love Lansbo as much as the next man, but Staunton was the only Lovett I've seen that made me nearly cry at the end of By the Sea with how incredibly real the vision was.

As for the singing, she was absolutely fine. All I want is for an actor to sing the correct pitch in the correct rhythm. Anything else is a bonus.

Marvin Hamlisch has passed away  Aug 7 2012, 09:06:20 AM

The Public Theatre's Shakespeare/Park presents INTO THE WOODS -- Discussion  Aug 6 2012, 07:39:34 AM
Can anyone tell me how they're doing the Witch's exit after Last Midnight? I was a bit underwhelmed by it in the Regents Park production and was wondering if they'd rethought it.
Great Cut Songs  Jul 29 2012, 02:54:15 PM
I love Small World/Mama's Talkin Soft and (cut from the original production) There Won't Be Trumpets.
OBCR of FOLLIES remixed and remastered!  Jul 29 2012, 02:31:09 PM
I've just ordered my copy (international here). So incredibly excited to finally hear it as it should always have been.
Riedel: ?Into? is lost in the woods  Jul 27 2012, 02:08:33 PM
