Sara Bareilles in WAITRESS  Apr 1 2017, 07:50:54 PM

So my question is:

Is the voice over at the start "sugar butter flour" still Sara or have they changed it? I've been hoping they changed it to Jessie while Sara is in

Sara Bareilles to make Waitress-related announcement on Today Show, 2/16  Feb 17 2017, 10:24:33 AM

I love this and already have my tickets. My hope is they replace the voice over at the begining which is Sara and have it be Jessie.

Cabaret Tour  Feb 13 2017, 12:23:15 PM

Braved the storm last night and saw the last performance in Boston.

I had not seen the original revival or the 2nd revival, so it was an impressive evening and I'm so glad I finally got to experience this show.

Randy was in great form, a lovely take on the role. Sexy, dark, uproarious, and wonderful. He was in great voice and really kept the whole whole show unified, I was always aware of his presence in the background.

Leigh Ann Larkin was in as Sally and

Ariana Grande cast as Penny in  Jul 7 2016, 06:54:04 PM

The wording of the Ariana press release says "We're absolutely thrilled to round out our all-star 'Hairspray Live!' cast with Ariana Grande. Does this mean the rest won't be "all-star" or am i reading too into it?

Waitress - Sara's concept album vs Musical  Jun 5 2016, 11:52:01 PM

Is it sara singing the opening 'sugar butter flour' in 'whats inside' on the cast album?

Waitress the Musical  Mar 3 2016, 06:31:13 PM

@mailhandler777.

The diner counter, etc is now SR instead of stage left in 'I loved you like a table'

and during Bad Idea they had the band on a platform that moved which leads me to think that may be something to happen in the production.

Just a thought.

Waitress the Musical  Mar 3 2016, 02:21:03 PM

based on the videos it looks like the set will be very different. I'm excited to see it!

I too am missing Jeanna and Jeremy (seeing him in the ensemble during 'Table' felt like a tease.

HAIRSPRAY is next NBC Musical...  Jan 13 2016, 03:00:00 PM

Bennati as Velma- Please?

I'd could see Matthew Morrison as Corny as a nod to the original production and thank to his popularity.

Will Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 ever come Broadway?  Dec 23 2015, 11:22:24 PM

Finally saw this tonight and I can only rave about this remarkable piece.

I have never seen anything like it. inspiring, innovative, moving, lovely and many other beautiful adjectives. The cast is a wonder and truly create the energy and tone of the piece. The set is a constant surprise and is designed so beautifully. The lighting is perfect and the musicianship is remarkable.

I am purchasing tickets online to see it again from another viewpoint. What a night.

The Sound of Music LIVE ITV  Dec 22 2015, 11:10:25 PM

I just finished watching. I really really loved this.

I feel like we've been schooled on how to do the Live musicals on tv thing here.

There ar only one or two moments that had me feeling our was stronger.

I adored so much of it though. Some beautiful choices and an inspired and artistic take which brought out new elements. It felt organic and lovely as opposed to the slick polish of the US productions thus far

The  Oct 4 2015, 02:56:48 PM

'This is the hour' from Miss Saigon.

On the Les Mis CD and Miss Saigon cd I had in my youth disc one ended at 'Do you hear the people sing' and 'This is the hour' respectively. For years i thought they were, in fact, the end of act 1.

Fun Home- Comparing Albums  May 19 2015, 10:15:20 AM

 Hello-

I have the Off-Broadway Cast recording of 'Fun Home' and am trying to decide if it's worth it to purchase the updated one.

Anyone have any comparisons after hearing the new one?

Cinderella on tour.  Oct 18 2014, 03:34:46 PM
Yes, the wedding costumes are cut and Cindy's wedding dress is a different material and slightly different shape.

Cinderella's house is bit different and scaled back.

Cinderella on tour.  Oct 17 2014, 01:46:58 PM
Kecia sings it as written, she soars during 'There is music in you' however, 'Impossible' seemed to be a bit in a weird spot for her.

'He was tall' was my fave addition too, very sad for its loss, such a charming moment.

Cinderella on tour.  Oct 17 2014, 11:43:44 AM
Saw this on Sunday, there is still magic there. But not nearly as much as on Broadways. There's a lot that's been scaled back.

As Jen said- the tree monster has been traded in for a less effective but I'm guessing easier to travel preying mantis.

The impossible transformation has a new variation on Cinderella's dress change which is not the same as the Tony version or the Broadway version. It's still effective, but perhaps less so than the other two.
Marie's dress is different- though i think its the same that Judy Kaye is presently wearing on Broadway too. I like it less, but that's just me.
Overall the impossible sequence seems to be very similar though.

The pursuit sequence is where I really missed the broadway production- it just felt a little empty to me. instead of ending in Cinderella's yard where she sings the lovely 'He was tall' it ended inside the cottage and 'he was tall was cut' . This meant her pursuit costume change into the peasant dress is different too.

The cottage is a little scaled back, the 'prince is giving a ball' scene no longer has buildings. just carts/vendors.

The palace now has chandeliers that move around instead of arches.

The biggest problem that I had with the show was the cast.
I missed the original cast more than I've ever missed a cast before.
Without them, a lot of the jokes that were delivered impeccably now show how weak the book is. Watching someone else in the role of Cinderella just proved to me what a talent Laura is and what an outstanding job she did.

C- :AFTER MIDNIGHT
C- :ALADDIN- will someone please tell me what the fuss is over this show, I don't get it.
C+ :BEAUTIFUL- Jessie sounded great
A :IF/THEN- A bold choice, a great voice and a situation where Idina's tensions informed the performance.
D :WICKED- If you're going to do an anniversary thing, do something memorable
A :HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH - NPH is a wonder- bring him back
A :A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE... - The only show that I haven't seen that convinced me i

If/Then Cast Recording  Jun 4 2014, 11:40:50 PM
The If/Then Soundtrack is currently in the top ten albums on iTunes. Not show tunes. Albums. That's a pretty remarkable testament to Idina as I can't recall seeing a Broadway Cast Recording break the iTunes albums chart...

Saw the show today and actually loved it.
My fave comment came from the couple behind me that was very confused
"I think it's the sequel to Rent and that's why we're confused because we didn't see that"

Venue Swap  Dec 29 2013, 01:21:34 AM
I would move Cinderella to the Palace because i think they can do some clever advertising with 'Cinderella at the Palace'
