DEH in LA  Oct 24 2018, 10:06:56 PM

Wicked Fanatic, thank you so much for telling me where to find the info about when Stephen performs.  I looked and looked and couldn't find it, but my eyes aren't what they used to be.  I have tickets for the last show in LA on a Sunday evening, so I am excited I get to see him.

The BCEFA cast auction debacle was a little embarrassing.  I was in the front of the mezzanine, so I couldn't completely tell what was going on with the bids.  They kind of lost

DEH in LA  Oct 24 2018, 06:37:58 PM

I saw the show last night with the full cast and really enjoyed it.  I loved Ben Levi Ross as Evan.  His singing was excellent - he hit the falsetto notes and had a strong belt - and he blew me away with his "Words Fail."  He has his own take on Evan's mannerisms and posture, but I didn't find it distracting.  The challenge with the role of Evan is to make him sympathetic in the mist of the mess he creates and he did that for me.  I fe

DEH in LA  Oct 23 2018, 01:11:28 PM

The Los Angeles Times is not the toughest critic.  They seem to love most shows.  I mean, they gave "Amelie" a great review.  I am going to the show tonight and am excited to see firsthand how this cast is.

Today Tix also offers discount tickets to shows in LA.  I often check both that site and Goldstar to find the best prices.

Carmen Cusack and Laura Bell Bundy Announced for REPRISE 2.0's Summer Season  Oct 8 2018, 09:20:21 PM

I also agree that Sweet Charity with Laura Bell Bundy was wonderful.  When I attended, they were pushing really hard for donations.  It felt like - "You better all donate, or you won't get to see any more shows,"  I guess it wasn't just a sales tactic.  I wonder if they don't really have the backing from donors they need to move forward.  It's too bad.

HAMILTON National Tour  Jun 15 2018, 01:06:17 PM

I saw the Angelica tour 3 times and saw the Phillip tour a couple week ago.  I think the OTC of the Angelica tour was stronger overall.  Part of that was the combination of Michael Luwoye as Hamilton and Joshua Henry as Burr.  Their performances were mesmerizing.  When we saw the Phillip Tour, Nik Walker, Ta'rea Campbell and Shoba Narayan were out.  Their understudies were excellent.  Julius Thomas was on as Burr, Jen Sese as Eliza, and Emily Jenda as Angelic

Color Purple TOUR  May 31 2018, 02:45:25 PM

Yes - those sound issues during "Sunday Morning" were a mess.  As some points, people were completely off mic.  We were in the front of the mezzanine and I really had to concentrate to understand some of the lines.

Color Purple TOUR  May 31 2018, 12:53:06 PM

I saw the tour last night in Los Angeles and the cast was wonderful  I enjoyed Adrianna Hicks as Celie.  She may not be Cynthia Erivo - but "I'm Here" still gave me chills when she sang it.  And I agree with others, Carrie Compere was fantastic as Sophia.  Gavin Gregory as Mister was also a standout.  There were some sound balance/mic issues that distracted a bit from the show, but that seems pretty common at the Pantages.

HAMILTON Principal Cast Replacements  May 21 2018, 11:47:22 AM

Shoba was at her brother's college graduation.  Nyla (Peggy/Maria) is out with an injury.

Soft Power  May 17 2018, 07:33:17 PM

The Los Angeles Times review seems to echo what many here have said - it's a fun hot mess.  http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/arts/la-et-cm-soft-power-review-20180518-story.html

HAMILTON National Tour  May 17 2018, 07:16:04 PM

Those of you who saw the understudy for Hamilton in Costa Mesa - what day did you see it?  I am wondering if they are still having the understudy go on each Tuesday like they did for the Angelica tour.  Nik Walker is going to be out when we see it, so it will be interesting to see one of the Burr understudies.

HAMILTON National Tour  May 17 2018, 05:59:58 PM
I am seeing the Philip Tour in about a week. I am so grateful I was able to see the Angelica Tour OTC 3 Times last year. I honestly can’t imagine a better Hamilton/Burr combo than Michael Luwoye and Joshua Henry. I am excited to the Philip Tour cast - especially Shoba Narayan.

Soft Power  May 15 2018, 03:45:06 PM

I enjoyed the show - but didn't love it.  I think it has potential and appreciated the intent of the show.  I see a lot of theater and don't consider myself someone taken in by a show just because the audience loves it.  I absolutely hated Allegiance and Amelie and everyone around me seemed to love those.  There is just something I found very likable about Soft Power even though it is a mess and I don't often feel that way.

Soft Power  May 14 2018, 04:26:00 PM

Fan123 - the allusions to the King and I are very general.  It doesn't follow the same story.

Soft Power  May 14 2018, 04:08:17 PM

I saw the show last night.  I agree with the other poster that it is kind of a hot mess - but you can't help but like it.  The cast is excellent.  Conrad Ricamora and Alyse Alan Louis were both standouts. It starts out as a play and then becomes a musical within the play.  I found myself much more engaged during the spoken dialogue than during the musical numbers.  My biggest criticism is that it just goes in too many different directions.  It is a

Will Once on This Island tour?  May 2 2018, 01:23:57 PM

The Ahmanson never confirmed the Spring Awakening tour.  They sent an announcement to subscribers confirming Once on This Island - so I am more hopeful.

Will Once on This Island tour?  May 2 2018, 11:57:57 AM

It has been confirmed for the 2019-2020 season at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles and should go to other cities from there.  https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/ONCE-ON-THIS-ISLAND-to-Launch-National-Tour-in-2019-2020-20180228

Has Hamilton finally hit a pricing wall (at least on tour)  Apr 18 2018, 06:55:31 PM

The same thing happened with premium tickets in SF and LA.  The released some a few days before the show and lowered the price until people bought them.  I think the lowest they went was about $200.  My friend saw the tour in Denver and got some great premium seats for $298 a couple days before the show.   I am guessing it will be different in each city.  Since a lot of these tour venues have 3,000 to 4,000 seats, I am sure they are still making plenty of mo

I would suggest calling the box office and explain your situation.  There must be some record of your tickets since you paid for them.
