fyi the apple logo on the MacBook is the most vulnerable part. I dropped my phone on it and the whole thing shattered including the lcd screen.

Glad to hear the show is doing so well. I agree about Ghee's amazing Lola. I saw Billy Porter and didn't think he could be topped but Ghee was IMO even better than Porter.

It also doesn't justify the unprofessional behavior exhibited by Ms. Stifelman and Mr. Bobbie. There are professional ways to deal with a performer who just isn't right for the part anymore.
I'm really surprised Andrew Rannells comes out infrequently now. When I went (late June) the security guards mentioned that he's one of the people who "always" comes out.
Well I've decided I have it in my budget for one more musical this summer. I'm thinking of either seeing Hello Dolly! one last time or MFL with Kerstin Anderson.
Some context:
I saw Hello Dolly! three times. Once with Bette, twice with Donna. Took my mom to see it. I love the production although the musical isn't my favorite golden age musical. I saw Bette in early previews and sort of want to see her more mature assumption of the role.

I agree the critic was tactless. However I'm surprised Alysha Umphress said she "cried herself to sleep." I'm sure people in the business have told her way, way worse. That doesn't justify their actions but fat shaming in the entertainment community is as common as lines of coke. I mean, Joan Rivers made an entire career out of it.
The show still has a really strong fanbase of baby boomer women. I'm always surprised how many tourists want to see this show specifically. Unless it's losing money I don't expect it to close.
I do know that when I first started going to theater I got quite a few "I didn't think Chinese people went to arts stuff" from the most well-meaning audience members.
I also keep a performing arts blog and a couple of my students found it and said to me "Why are you going to plays. You should be making pork fried rice."
There is a prejudice that Asians are only good at math and can't appreciate anything artistic.
I'm overall happy I got to see Angels in America live but several members of that production struggled with an American accent. Denise Gough in particular seemed to think that a nasal whine = American accent.
One thing I wonder if casting directors might do in the future -- have a mixed-race Anna? That would be truer to the real Anna Leonowens, who carefully hid her mixed-race ancestry with a lot of fabrications.
