Harvey- torch song  Oct 26 2018, 01:04:24 AM

To be fair, the production is using as their main publicity photo a picture of Harvey sitting on a couch surrounded by the cast.  I think a lot of people are going to think he is in the show.

Laura Benanti to replace Lauren Ambrose in MY FAIR LADY  Oct 25 2018, 10:55:09 PM

irishgator1, thanks for the stage door report!  It sounds like a decent number of people come out after the matinee, although not HHP.

And Sytwix, thanks for the discount code!  I have a feeling it will get a lot of use around here!

Once @ the Arden in Philly  Oct 25 2018, 10:03:05 AM

I just saw this and agree it was wonderful.  It closes this weekend, so get your tickets now!

(Spoilers)

I saw the show on Broadway with most of the original cast.  The biggest difference between the Broadway and this version IMO was the interpretation of the Girl.  Cristin Milioti was so adorable and instantly charming in the part, and here, it felt like it took longer to warm up to the character, although I found her very endearing by intermission.

My Fair Lady Fan Day  Oct 25 2018, 09:52:59 AM

Where was the Fan Day lottery announced?  I can't go anyway, but wondering for the future.

Laura Benanti to replace Lauren Ambrose in MY FAIR LADY  Oct 25 2018, 09:50:14 AM

Benanti sent out signed Playbills rather than signed for She Loves Me, also.  I always appreciate it when actors tell you that they're not going to stage door, so you don't have to wonder.  And the signed Playbills are a real kindness.

Irishgator1, did a lot of people come out after the matinee?  I always wonder about matinees on 2-show days.

Did anyone go to the Dear Evan Hansen novel event?  Oct 9 2018, 06:50:07 PM

broadwaynerdnewbie, thanks!  I'm really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, there haven't been any announced special guests, but I'm sure it will be really interesting to hear what they all have to say!

Did anyone go to the Dear Evan Hansen novel event?  Oct 9 2018, 05:56:47 PM

Did anyone go to the Dear Evan Hansen novel event in NYC on Monday?  What was it like, and how long did it go for?  I am going on Wednesday in Philadelphia and am not sure what to expect.  Thanks in advance!

Laura Benanti to replace Lauren Ambrose in MY FAIR LADY  Aug 23 2018, 12:42:22 PM

I think the stigma about replacing, particularly for the first replacement, has gone down.  Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch, two true legends of the theater, replaced in A Little Night Music, and it didn't dim their luster one bit.  The current replacement cast of Hamilton has one Tony winner and two other cast members who were Tony nominees, which I don't think you would have seen 20 or 30 years ago.

Boys in the Band Stagedoor  Jul 28 2018, 02:11:34 PM

I wonder if Parsons might have reacted differently if the autograph dealer hadn't been there (and the autograph dealer might have been waiting for him multiple times before).  I believe he signed regularly for all his prior Broadway shows, so I think he's fan-friendly in general.

Angels in America Stage Door?  Jul 2 2018, 12:18:10 AM

Does anyone know if they sign after Part 1 on Thursdays?  I know they don't sign after Part 1 on two-show days but I don't know if that's true for Thursdays as well.

Lea Salonga will play final performance in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND on June 24!  Jun 24 2018, 12:02:48 PM
I went last Sunday night. They let people in around 7:05 or 7:10 but none of the cast except for the little girl (who doesn’t interact with anyone) came out until around 7:25. The show didn’t start until around 7:40.

I don’t know if the cast normally comes out earlier but there were delays because it was Alysha and Grasan’s last show. But if that was the reason, that will probably happen tonight as well.

Attendance for Spongebob  Jun 24 2018, 09:30:18 AM

"Gibby alluded to both himself and JC Schuster playing Squidward in the same week"

motelcitizen, which week are you referring to?  The week of June 25 - July 1, or the week of July 2 - July 8?  Thanks in advance!

Vacations or planned absences for Once on This Island?  Jun 19 2018, 09:42:49 AM

Thanks everybody!  I ended up seeing the show this past Sunday night, and everybody was in except Roderick Covington.  From the curtain call, I think it was Alysha Deslorieux and Grasan Kingsberry's last show.

Vacations or planned absences for Once on This Island?  Jun 12 2018, 12:35:33 PM

Now that the Tonys are over, I'm guessing that cast members for Once on This Island are going to start taking vacation.  Are there any planned absences or vacation for the show coming up (or right now)?  Thanks in advance!

Understudy-Palooza Weekend  May 29 2018, 11:01:44 PM

"And yet, there are seldom absences that weekend."

Last year, Josh Groban was out for the Saturday matinee before the Tonys, and Ben Platt also missed shows that weekend.  Both performed on the Tonys.  There are similar stories in previous years.   I don't blame people for calling out.  The voting is over, and it's important to have a good performance on camera.

Understudy-Palooza Weekend  May 29 2018, 10:04:20 AM

It can be very frustrating to see understudies in key roles if there are specific performers you really want to see.  When I saw Movin' Out, four of the five main performers were out.  When I saw A Chorus Line, the actors playing Cassie, Sheila, and Paul were all out.

Given that it's Tony season, your performers probably weren't on vacation.  It used to be pretty safe that the full cast would be in during previews and during Tony season, but that isn't re

My Fair Lady stage door?  May 5 2018, 10:04:47 AM

Do Lauren Ambrose, Henry Hadden-Paton, Norbert, and Diana Rigg sign at the stage door?  Thanks in advance!  Also, could you mention if you saw the show in previews or more recently?  Sometimes actors do it in previews then stop or vice versa.

Who is closing post tony nominations?  Apr 30 2018, 01:44:41 PM

I think Children of a Lesser God is the only show that is on the cusp.  Both Spongebob and Once on this Island will get a fair number of nominations, including Best Musical/Revival.  Margaritaville won't, but the producers will probably keep it open long enough to have a number on the broadcast.

Children is in a trickier situation.  The Best Revival nominees will be Angels in America, Three Tall Women, Travesties, The Iceman Cometh, and ... something else.  When

Stage door for Harry Potter?  Apr 28 2018, 06:54:01 PM

Thank you everybody for your advice, and especially for the heads-up that some of the principal cast might not come out (which, of course, is their prerogative).  Jamie Parker, Noma D, Poppy Miller, and Alex Price all did not come out.  Everyone who did was very nice and super friendly.

I also echo what others said that the stage door was very calm.  I think it's because the barricade is so long that it's mostly a single layer of fans.  So people

Stage door for Harry Potter?  Apr 25 2018, 11:45:49 AM
Thank you both, and for the heads-up about Jamie Parker. I saw him in the History Boys as well, and he is a wonderful actor. I’ll cross my fingers that he will come out!
