KING LEAR Moving to the Cort  Oct 26 2018, 10:08:47 AM
I actually don't think this is a question of Metcalf pulling her power. I think Scott Rudin is a shrewd producer and knows Glenda Jackson as Lear is going to sell well in whatever theatre it plays in. Metcalf in a new play by a still up and coming playwright is going to need the greater visibility that the Golden Theatre provides to sell tickets.

Company London  Oct 20 2018, 09:12:09 AM

I think a new London cast recording is highly likely.  If the show transfers to Broadway with Rosalie Craig and Patti LuPone, a second cast recording is unlikely.  If Anne Hathaway (or another name) does the role on Broadway, there would very likely be a separate Broadway cast recording.

The way the union contracts work these days, I actually don't believe its possible to simply "overlay" the tracks from a London production with Broadway performers. If a recordi

The tempos for the original London production of EVITA were really slow.

I'd just like to point out the brilliance of Sondheim in allowing this to be done. He has just created a completely new market and revenue stream for the show. I can only imagine every regional theatre that has done the musical, will be doing it again with this revised script once the regional rights are rolled out.

Chorus Line @ NY City Center  Oct 18 2018, 12:30:29 PM
Well, J. Elaine Marcos is playing Val. Thats a different twist. But yes, its essentially a Paper Mill Playhouse produciton at City Center.

Chorus Line @ NY City Center  Oct 18 2018, 12:21:55 PM
A CHORUS LINE is one of my absolutely most favorite musicals. But really. It's time. They need to give this to a different and new team to completely re-imagine.

Yes, the Times is reviewing it.

Girl From The North Country - Public Theater?  Oct 14 2018, 08:28:02 PM
To be far, I still thought the show was wonderful in NYC though it’s absolutely true that if it transfers they should bring over Hinds, Atim and especially Henderson. The Feeryman brought over the entire UK cast so I don’t think this would be an Equity thing. The Public Theatre probably doesn’t pay enough to bring people over from London.

The Red Bucket Follies  Oct 12 2018, 11:00:57 AM
This kind of sounds like an industrial show for KFC.

BroadwayConcierge said: "I really can't see this one doing well in a transfer to Broadway. At least the otherunique, "weird"shows that have done well on Broadway (likeThe Band's VisitandCome from Away) have clear messages and themes. This show is just an amalgam of...things. I don't see commercial audiences walking out of a performance and raving about it to their friends."

Well it’s probably worth putting in perspect

I'm not saying only Josh Groban can play the part, but I've seen a dozen or more productions since 1970 and all the Bobbys could at least sing well enough.

THE FERRYMAN Previews  Oct 4 2018, 08:15:38 AM
I just have to comment that I laughed at the poster who said they couldn’t sit through a 100 minute play because they drank a bottle of wine at dinner and had a pre show cocktail.

I mean you do realize you don’t have to do that, right?

.And you do realize alcohol makes you have to take a whiz like nobody’s business, yes?.

Skip the booze - Have a glass of water an hour before the show and I promise you will survive the one hour first act on this one.

Company London  Oct 3 2018, 08:13:35 AM
Well, the above mention people (Audra, Idina, Sutton and Kelli) do have ‘name’ recognition in NYC and would sell more tickets than Rosalie Craig.

Company London  Oct 2 2018, 03:19:02 PM
Well for whatever its worth - as someone who likes Rosalie Craig a great deal, she isn't (as another poster points out) a huge powerhouse vocalist. But then, I'm not sure that having an extraordinary singing voice is the principal qualification for playing Bobby. Has it ever been?

Company London  Oct 2 2018, 03:06:12 PM
And for what its worth, I don't necessarily think they have a 'name American Actress" confirmed to do this, merely that this is what they are planning.

I will let those who have actually seen this production take the lead in offering suggestions, but sure I'd love to see Sutton, Audra, Laura Benanti, even Kelli O'Hara try this. I wonder if someone like Anne Hathaway could sing it?

Company London  Oct 2 2018, 02:59:33 PM
I think a cast recording is likely. I'm not sure about a filming.

I'm also hearing a Broadway transfer is likely but probably with a name American actress in the lead.

Okay so when Will From North Country get the Tony!  Oct 2 2018, 12:55:09 PM
The show was brilliant in London and its brilliant at the Public. Of course it will transfer, and yes, it will win a lot of Tonys. No, it won't be everyone's cup of tea (neither was the Band's Visit). Incidentally, Shirely Henderson in London won the lead Oliver award for the role Mare Winnigham is currently playing, so I suspect Winningham will be campaigned as lead, not supporting.

Company London  Sep 30 2018, 09:26:04 AM
Does the production include Tik Tock?

Daniel Fish-Directed OKLAHOMA! Lassos its Way to St. Ann's Warehouse  Sep 28 2018, 11:50:45 AM

I thought the casting over all was bizarre and since nobody is really a conventional choice for the role they are playing, it’s hard for me to say anyone is overtly “miscast”. Oddly, the exception to this was Ali Stroker, who despite her disability actually makes a pretty traditionall Ado Annie.

I was disappointed that Rebecca Naomi Jones seemed to really be struggling with the score.
