Anyone know what happened to Taylor Trensch tonight?  Aug 5 2018, 01:26:24 PM
I saw it happen before too. The revival of A Chorus Line. Charlotte D’Amboise suddenly left the line and another actress walked on. Happened right before Music and the Mirror. They announced at the end of the show.

Head Over Heels not on TDF tonight. Head scratch. Still open? How can this show not be on TDF?

Beaver: Gee, Mom, why did you say you liked the blouse and that you would wear it to the concert?
June: Well, Beaver, you're right. I shouldn't have told you I would wear the blouse and not worn it. I told you I liked the blouse because you bought it for me and I didn't want to hurt your feelings.
Beaver: Isn't that like lying, Mom?
June: In a way, Beaver but let's say a man was walking down the street and he was ugly. You wouldn't say to the man, you

NY Times Journalist's  Jul 23 2018, 04:51:10 PM

My eyebrows went up as far as they could when I got to this part of the review. Why this critic is still at the New York Times is beyond me. She usually always has a snarky thing to write in her reviews. And where is Brantley and Green anyway? I figure they're off on vacation but this is an Off-Broadway show with actors who have Broadway credits. It's not a non-Equity Showcase (which have been known to be very good, thank you). Doesn't it deserve some higher string critic fro

HELLO, DOLLY! Sets August 25 Closing Date; Bette Midler to Return July 17  Jul 18 2018, 02:45:03 PM
How funny. That "trump" lyric always stuck way out to me no matter which lady sang it! Glad it's been replaced. Just sing anything but that lyric!

Loren Lott to Lead Once On This Island  Jul 17 2018, 10:46:58 PM
I think you’re all correct that Ms. Kilgore’s absence won’t affect box office now but earlier in the run, for those who follow theatre news, there would have been some who would have been disappointed if she wasn’t playing. The producers of this production made a big deal in their auditioning hundreds of actresses for this part. I read many puff pieces on how they were looking for an unknown and how they found this “find” who had virtually no stage experience. I for one wanted to see who they c

Ricardo Tobia, original 'Pacific Overtures' actor, found slain at 71  Jul 13 2018, 11:17:18 PM
I was lucky to see Mr. Ricardo Tobia 17 times in Pacific Overtures back in 1976. I listened to him again today on the cast album. Wonderful to read how admired he was by his students. May he rest now.

Dear Evan Hansen lottery questions  Jul 12 2018, 01:37:39 AM

I figured it was sound or lights. Too bad they couldn’t have found a more suitable place to mount it.
I’m 5’7” and I didn’t see any ankles.
Not complaining at $42, as I said. But $150 for 1st row center orchestra as partial view? That seems a bit steep. I love the 1st row and don’t mind looking up as you usually do seated in that section (did it for Dolly and it was great) but if I paid $150 and couldn’t see the actors from head to toe, I wo

Dear Evan Hansen lottery questions  Jul 12 2018, 12:24:56 AM
I'm very late to this party. I won the Lottery tonight. I was seated in Partial View Orchestra A, Seat 5. Now I've sat extreme sides lots of times with backs to me and scenes not being seen but what's with that black high wall built around the apron of the stage? Is it for sound, lights? Whatever it is you feel like you're in a hole when seated. I loved seeing the faces close up but I saw them from the waist up only. No real problem with the $42 price but it did look like the first 2 rows orches

Dear Evan Hansen lottery questions  Jul 11 2018, 03:53:07 PM
I’m very excited that I just had to gush. After over a year of entering the Lottery, I won 1 ticket tonight. I never thought that would ever happen. Didn’t see it Off Broadway and have never seen it on Broadway. So, for those entering frequently, it does work!

CHICAGO - Staging?  Jul 8 2018, 04:22:14 PM
Saw the original. Believe me, it was not like this “minimalist” staging! And I love this revival. But the original was not like this version.

Jeff Loeffelholz suicide news coverage  Jul 8 2018, 03:59:31 PM
Maybe this doesn’t have to do with this tragedy but I’ve seen Chicago a lot and every time I walked into the theatre and saw that Ms. Stifelman was conducting, I knew what I was in for. She’s been there a long time too, not sure how long, and her conducting was, to me, slow and rudimentary. When I walked in and there was a replacement for her, the show had bounce and excitement. So, all employees who have been around a long time, need, perhaps, a little nudge or direction. It ain’t just the perf

Jeff Loeffelholz suicide news coverage  Jul 6 2018, 08:30:25 PM
After reading Page 6 of the Post, and I'm not saying this is total truth, but, unfortunately, this is all too common when "they" want you out after a long term of service. They don't want to pay you in full what you're owed by contract so they torture you hoping you'll leave on your own accord or, perhaps in this case if you're fragile in spirit, decide life is not worth it. Family has already said he was fine and not suicidal. I hope this "investigation" goes all the way.

Will Broadway dim the lights for  Jul 6 2018, 04:44:16 PM
I don’t know the man or situation. But I’ve worked for Unions and have seen situations. Producers would rather torment someone than to pay the lousy buy-out. If that’s what happened here, I pray for this actor. Imagine- going to work for years and then they don’t you for whatever reason. Must be torture to go to the theatre every night under those circumstances. You don’t want the actor, follow the contract that the actor and YOU signed and buy him/her out. Done.

Riedel on Diana Rigg being annoyed Ambrose misses Sundays  Jul 6 2018, 01:42:05 PM
"It's a terrible way to live. No question. 8 shows a week, one day off and the days you are performing at night you spend all day being nervous and tense. No. Film acting is much easier. The theatre is a prison sentence. It really is". Bette Davis

Santino Fontana will play the lead in Tootsie the Musical  Jun 26 2018, 09:55:49 AM

I love the movie and hope the musical handles it with care. My questions about the Press Release: while I loved John Behlmann in Significant Other, isn't he a little young to be playing the role George Gaynes played in the movie?- John Von Horn, now called Max Von Horn in the musical. The role is a has been actor now getting attention again on a soap opera. Don't see Mr. Behlmann in that role. Also don't see the part of Jessica Lange's father,  Les, listed in the breakdow

Digital Lottery  Jun 21 2018, 10:34:25 AM
Sorry if this is dealt with on another thread. I searched a little and couldn't find it and the Search feature is down for maintenance.
I won the Summer Lottery for yesterday's matinee. I couldn't go and let the ticket be released. My question is- is there any point to keep entering now that I didn't claim the ticket? I mean do they penalize you for that? Or is it all at random? Anyone know the policy? Couldn't find it in their FAQ. Thx.
