TORCH SONG (2018) Previews  Oct 25 2018, 12:28:28 PM
I got an alert from TodayTix that they are offering $25 tickets from now through November it looked like. Interestingly, those were listed as being assigned by the box office, meaning nothing is set in stone. They still had the purchase options for sections, but those were either premium or the current discount available. Would be interested to know what people get for $25.

I went to the Annie Get Your Gun one a couple of years ago. I don't recall anything really special done at the performance. I forget how I dressed, but it wasn't over the top dressed up.&nbs

I'm going to guess not while they are in previews at least. Isn't that usually the case for shows opening during that time anyway?

TORCH SONG (2018) Previews  Oct 20 2018, 05:46:55 PM
I saw it today and really enjoyed it. I missed it off-Broadway last year, so I have no idea how much was changed. But, very strong performances all around. I do think it could be tighter or a little cut because it did feel long. Didn't get out on street until 4:55ish.

And I was kind of surprised by the empty seats in the mezzanine. The middle section was full, but the sides had a lot of empty seats.

Oh, and they were giving out free pins on the way out.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 9/30/18  Oct 1 2018, 07:13:23 PM
I was at the matinee of Once On This Island yesterday. I did notice a few empty rows. And I was in G211, which is to the right of a huge pillar, so there were only 6 seats on that side. I was the only person in it.

There were definitely some interesting curiosities if you kept your eyes open, but they are increasingly few and far between. A lot of it is just luck and being in the right place at the right time.

Only thing I recall seeing of Hair was a cast recording.

I almost forgot my other big item. It was a fake Tony award given to the cast of Spiderman: Turn off the Dark as an opening night gift.

I also got a Once Christmas ornament for free somewhere because they had 2 boxes of them that were forgotten to be put out at the end of the day. Was hoping for more things like this then. Heck, nobody was even very enthusiastic about end of the day sales, which has happened in past years.

I remember that from a couple of years ago. I didn't see her when I went by this year though. But, she was really funny and really into selling her stuff.

The Sweeney Todd Table had some shirts, playbills, and magnets. Nothing too exciting.

My biggest purchases were:

a sign from Mean Girls that says "#FollowMe. I'm the line for the ladies room."

Caberet hoodie

Fake Tony award opening night gift from Spiderman: Turn off the Dark

A bunch of sippy cups

Sunday in the Park with George shirt

It is a strange crowd. Like some tables I got through right away on. Some, like Mean Girls, was mobbed. It is crowded, but more tolerable than last year. I'm not just saying it to be nice because I get anxiety attacks if I start feeling crammed and I also started the day not feeling well. I think not having insane lines for certain tables is helping that a little. I am not looking for playbills and windowcards though, so maybe that's why I'm not feeling so overwhelmed with searching.

I think they only release the tentative 1 about a month or 2 before, with major changes happening along the way. You can't go into the release date of it and assume that is all the programming.

BCEFA Flea Market  Sep 23 2018, 06:50:03 PM
I think some of the tables had a way to do credit cards last year, but don't know if that will become a standard. As mentioned, there are specific credit card payment tables. But, it is always best to have cash, in my opinion.

It's $35 for the whole session of whoever is in that hour. I've heard some people start lining up an hour ahead, which I believe. I almost didn't get in a few years ago because I showed up more towards the start of the session I wanted. The photobooth & autograph table are at the same time, so you can only do 1 or the other. And photobooth pricing I think depends on the person and popularity. Also if you end up with multiple actors if they are from the same show. I have no advice on that pricin

I'm about 5'4" and personally never had any issues with row AA there. Actually, I was so impressed with my view from She Loves Me that I sat there again for Holiday Inn.

Marin Mazzie Has Passed Away  Sep 13 2018, 07:13:19 PM
This one hurts. I just found out because I don't have my phone on me when I'm at work.

I have been fortunate enough to see many shows she was in. My first one was Spamalot. This was her return after Hannah Waddingham had played the role for a little. Actually, didn't they do a switch between the Broadway and London productions during that? I also saw Next to Normal, Carrie, and The King and I. All good memories.

BroadwayCon  Sep 11 2018, 07:50:36 PM
The only passes that seem to sell out are the Platinum passes because they sell so few. I think at the last one you may have been able to buy day passes the day of. That said, if you want a chance to possibly get in on autograph or photo booth sessions, I wouldn't buy them after November. I forget when they opened up the lottery system for that, but it isn't something you can just show up to day of. If that isn't of importance, then you will be fine buying whenever.

Have you seen any Cirque show recently??  Sep 5 2018, 12:03:10 PM
I saw Luzia when it was up in Boston back in July. It was enjoyable. Unfortunately, the people sitting around me were not.
