If you never got to see the award-winning 1994 National Theatre revival of An Inspector Calls directed by Stephen Daldry, you may get your chance! The production recently saw an extended run in the West End and its tour will stop at a few US regional houses starting in late 2018. Tour info.
This is my favorite production of any play I've ever seen. I saw this once on Broadway and twice in London.&n

Five apostrophes, actually. Not to mention the other punctuation errors. There's nothing else in that post worth noting. The actual content is redundant and pointless. Well, the bit about wasting tax dollars is amusing in its irony, I suppose, but it's mired on absolute nonsense.
The original Madrid recording of Evita is extraordinary for the orchestrations. By contrast, the Korean recording of Evita is hilariously awful. There are moments the chorus and orchestra aren't even in sync.

Though it still has more melodies than Phantom of the Opera.

I wonder why it looks like tire tracks in the background. Seems an odd choice in design.

Cool. I was really hoping this would be identical to every other Wicked movie thread. I get so tired of reading new thoughts and ideas.
The biggest problem I have with the idea of this show is the extremely limited dynamic range of the Go-Gos catalog of music, especially their hits. You could set a metronome to We Got the Beat, Vacation, Mad About You and Head Over Heels alone and barely register the change from one tune to the next, which is why, love their songs as much as I do, I can only take them in small doses. Even in the 80s, I could rarely sit through an entire album in one sitting. The score would
Fiddler on the Roof, 1776, A Chorus Line, City of Angels, Falsettos, The Secret Garden, Rent, Urinetown, Spelling Bee and Fun Home immediately spring to mind.
That was a Rose who I felt had no subtlety, subtext, or any genuine human emotion. One-note and jarring. Someone made a comment about how Staunton was the first Rose they saw who looked like she was about to grab members of the audience and start punching them.
I don’t care who we get as long as the cast is made up of strong singers.
You'll probably get some pop/RnB singers with iffy acting skills riffing wildly on a Hair Jr. score. I just can't envision any scenario where this is going to appeal to anyone over, maybe 24? I'd hate to see what happened to Grease in 1978 happen to Hair and Rent.
They will have to cast every actor from all of my wildest lifetime fantasies to get me interested in a G-rated broadcast of Hair. Same for Rent. I already saw this episode of Head of the Class in 1990.
Though Rodgers and Hammerstein worked with Martin to create the role of Maria for her, after she departed they agreed that the piece would be served best by going much younger than middle aged for the role.
Sutton can easily pass for 30s, I think. It also depends how they cast the Captain. When there's a visible 20+ year different, it starts looking skeevy. And then the
I think Sutton Foster would be terrific in the part. Vocally, she's a great fit for the Broadway score as her range is quite similar to that of Mary Martin.
I do think Dear Evan Hansen is ****. I've seen it and felt nothing. Why it is so popular? I don't know.
It was written to be trendy with young audiences. Same thing with Spring Awakening, which I found to be eye-rollingly pretentious in its melodramatic book and froo-froo lyrics. DEH just made me feel angry and sick in its carelessness. Some nice music in the score, but that's all the credit I'll give to that evil show.
Model Behavior - Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown Privilege to Pee - Urinetown I Speak Six Languages - 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Bride's Lament - Drowsy Chaperone Schadenfreude - Avenue Q There! Right There! - Legally Blonde
I tried listening to the cast recording once, but only made it through a couple of tracks. It sounded like a project for an undergrad theatre major exam. I might try giving it a second chance, but not any time soon.
