Drama Book Shop closing next year  Oct 25 2018, 12:05:12 PM

Lin recently tweeted that he went to the store and signed everything with his name on it, and told people to go spend money there.

FROZEN Previews  Oct 23 2018, 09:48:18 PM

Catsbroadwayfan said: "If an actor or actress are upset about 8 show weeks they shouldnt be doing theatre."

I’m sure this is coming from someone who 1, isn’t an adult, and 2, does not do professional theater for a living.

Wait a few years for your frontal lobe to close and get some actual experience in this field - life is not as black and white as you think when you are younger.

I loved my seats in the mid-center-mezzanine. Very comfortable and not cramped for my or my friends, who usually have a hard time seeing shows because seats can be so poorly set up.

Betsy Wolfe Waitress  Oct 13 2018, 10:16:20 PM
Not to mention that Sara did her first run right before her - so they were doing well enough financially to take the risk of a traditional Broadway performer. I want to say they also knew that Jason Mraz would be coming in by this point.

Off-topic, but I hope Sara does a third/final run and closes the show. I don’t think it will closing up shop anytime soon (despite what people here seem to think) but she’s the only Jenna I haven’t seen yet.

ANASTASIA National Tour  Oct 11 2018, 05:01:59 PM

I wonder if they’ll end up cutting the number from the Broadway production - when Wicked made changes upon the West End opening, they implemented the changes to all productions a few months later.

I’m surprised they are cutting it from future productions though! It’s a very pretty song, and has become a favorite of musical theater girls to cover on YouTube (and in singing auditions).

Caye2, the person I got mine from was standing literally right in the corner against the front door - really easy to miss them, what caught my eye was the BCEFA bucket he had them in.

I had to turn around and go back in to grab one.

Here’s a photo (not mine) of the current merch stand.

Also, I would be absolutely shocked if Michael Urie wasn’t nominated. I will be honest and say that when he was announced for the off-Broadway run, I was skeptical (because he’s so different from Harvey and the characterization I’m used to with this show) but he is nothing short of incredible.

Mercedes has not been replaced. She nails every second she is onstage. Again, I think even her performance was better here than it was at 2nd Stage (and that’s saying something).

I saw a decent sized amount of merch walking out of the theater (I will be going back this weekend and getting a better look) - magnets, beautiful window card, a couple t-shirts, a hat, my eyes didn’t catch it but I know they are rereleasing the script with both the original trilogy and new condensed versions

Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, should they have a show on broadway?  Oct 10 2018, 08:46:43 AM
I would love to see them do an actual show together, but even a performance piece (similar to “Oh, Hello”) would be great. Take my money. I watch plenty of their interviews and love their new book.

TORCH SONG (2018) Previews  Oct 10 2018, 08:44:27 AM
I agree with everything said. Especially Michael’s “oops” bit - I could be wrong, but I don’t remember it being as hilarious in the off-Broadway run last year.

Amazing performances for a first preview. Everyone’s performances have gotten better in my opinion. Even Ward Horton (Ed), who IMO was the only weak link in the 2nd Stage run - here he is so much more natural and believable, not just in his line delivery but his physical character as well. I also don’t remember Roxanna Hope Radj

I don’t want to like this idea...but this would actually be fantastic.

The Inheritance  Oct 7 2018, 04:18:31 PM
I don’t agree with those saying that this is just a rehash of what is already out there - sure, many topics are shared between Inheritance and other Gay shows/stories, but the dynamics and overall story are different.

I could be biased. It stood out to me at the Drama Book Shop, I made an impulse purchase without even peaking inside, and couldn’t put it down.

I really hope this transfers to Broadway. I had to cancel my trip to London last month due to a family emergency and I

TORCH SONG (2018) Previews  Oct 7 2018, 04:12:05 PM
I just used the new code (up to 50% off, TSBWW) and chose center mezzanine for the first preview!

I’ve never been in this theater and was worried that the front row would be too close (was only $60 more total), but hopefully the theater feels as small as people say it is. Comments on A View From My Seat say that there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

I’m so happy this play came back and is now being transferred to Broadway. It was one of the first gay plays I ever read and hold

Next Jenna in Waitress  Oct 7 2018, 04:06:57 PM
I know someone in the show as well - they said production was going to give Stephanie a few weeks and then bring a “name” in, but plans fell through and Nicolette is extending. Which is great news as she is too good to have such a limited run.

Original POTO production returning in 2019 World Tour  Oct 4 2018, 01:26:44 PM

ALW’s Facebook posted this about 30 minutes ago:

“Spring 2019 will see the West End and Broadway production of The Phantom Of The Opera make a triumphant and long-awaited return onto the world stage from February 2019!

KING KONG - Previews  Oct 4 2018, 12:05:36 PM
According to the King Kong page on TodayTix, the show closes on August 10th, 2019. Has this always been the case (a limited engagement) or is it just the date they are currently selling tickets through?

WICKED 15TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT  Sep 27 2018, 10:48:22 PM
People keep saying Ariana is involved because she’s doing the film - but I think her involvement is due to 1) she has a new album and she’s keeping up her professional exposure, and 2) she did the pop radio cover of Popular a few years ago.
