Hamilton San Francisco  Feb 16 2019, 01:08:29 PM

hi notalwaysontime

thanks your harrowing description of what happened and grateful you are ok physically. real or perceived the emotions and fears are just as vivid. if you have any lasting symptoms, consider  a good ptsd expert. my experience is nlp(neuro linguistic programming) based practitioners are excellent at quickly integrating traumas. i recently went thru a life threatening trauma and the NLP really helped....

ironically, i just received in my email from SHN

Hamilton San Francisco  Feb 16 2019, 08:21:45 AM

I was at hamilton for the first act last night, and left at intermission because I was not feeling well and it was freezing in the theatre....maybe I had some intuition to get out.

So sorry for everything folks went through near the end of the second act...Orpheum is a very very difficult theatre to exit and I was in front orch which takes forever to get out and cant imagine doing it on my hands and knees while someone is yelling "gun"  wow....

Anyway here are my

Way Too Early 2019 Tony Predictions thread  Dec 12 2018, 01:26:47 AM

Any consensus on the best musical nominees?

been off the thread til now and from reviewing, seems like the most vocal support  and consensus is for:

Hadestown-already predicted to sweep by many

Tootsie-lots of support and great out of town reviews

The Prom-great reviews and social themes the tony voters love

Be More Chill-sold out fast pre broadway and generally favorable buzz

with some support for:

Beetlejuice

re: Best Musical Theatre Song of All-Time (Pick ONLY One)  Nov 2 2018, 04:45:07 PM
im so obsessed with amazing individual broadway songs i created at top 100 playlist
then a top 500 playlist
then a top 1000 playlist
then a top 2000 songs spreadsheet

and at the very top number one slot,

it always goes to

“Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables

pure
simple
heartfelt
passionate
love
sacrifice
mortality
faith
it has it all

the perfect high tenor song...

Touring Miss Saigon In San Francisco  Oct 28 2018, 01:44:59 PM

watched this last night from front center orch.

First time seeing miss saigon, i passed on seeing the revival in NYC because Ive always thought the score was unimpressive, and theyd announced the tour, so i saw dear evan hansen again. In retrospect, it probably would have been good to see the NYC cast. This musical was constantly reminding me it was the lesser successful sibling of Les Miserables, from hey lets make JVJ a vietnamese prostitute, to the engineer pimp who I thought

Laura Benanti to replace Lauren Ambrose in MY FAIR LADY  Aug 23 2018, 11:36:58 PM

laura will be great. I saw both other actors and liked the understudy better than Lauren and Lauren was fine.

My next wish for casting after Laura B would be would be the incredible Laura Osnes, who would also be dazzling as Eliza.....

Ain't Too Proud Officially Heading to Broadway  Aug 23 2018, 11:33:38 PM

This is a very, very good musical, and I enjoyed every minute. I saw it three times in Berkeley. It got very strong reviews overall in the bay area, and set records at the venue. Derek Baskin the lead is incredible.

incredible, stunning performances, amazing choreography and costumes, some of the worlds best music ever, a solid book (for a biopic) and a lot of heart, sweat and soul.

give this one a chance, folks-especially if you like soul and motown musical. its

I've seen Frozen eight times. Here's why ... and why you shouldn't judge me  Aug 21 2018, 08:35:37 PM
good for you illana-keep going and have a fantastic time. as someone whose been ridiculed by “professional” critics on this board for seeing shows they deemed “mediocre” i support going to shows as many times as u get enjoyment from them and screw those who judge others.
im going to les miz tonight for the 12th time after seeing it less than a week ago. why? because its a great show(to me-its not for everyone) and a strong cast.

Frank Sinatra: His Merits and Demerits  Aug 21 2018, 03:20:43 PM

Sinatra was a vocal master and more importantly a master of song interpretation and  living and acting the story he was singing. In one of his bios he was quoted as saying every song was like a three minute movie and if he couldnt connect emotionally to the song and convey the emotional content he would perform it.

That pretty much is the definition of musical theatre singing.....

He was also quoted:

"Throughout my career, if I have done anything, I h

Les Miserables Tour 2017  Aug 19 2018, 06:58:52 PM
im two thumbs up for this gorgeous tour production and cast. i saw the revival on bway with ramin so familiar with this production. both leads were fantastic
and had better chemistry imo than the revival val jean and javert. very strong voices throughout the cast great sound and orchestrations
bring him home was stunningly kveautlful. my minor gripe is the fantine was s big time belter and belted the life out of i dreamed a dream and did not give mich emotion to the song.

ill pr

Who sings the best Soliloquy?  Aug 18 2018, 09:41:54 AM

John Raitt on that 1952 tv performance is stunning and wins over anything ive seen or heard. Loved Joshua Henry's performance as well live this year-he definitely put his own mark on the song and role. Special mention to Hugh Jackman, who  did a wonderful version during his one man broadway show.

Megan Hilty Waitress  Aug 9 2018, 08:52:01 AM

yes.

would go see this again with Megan in a minute....

Best Musical Books?  Jul 29 2018, 09:09:13 PM
studying the historical best book winners and lonngest running shows and finding patterns in the types of stories that are recieved well by audiences is a great start. a book publisher once told me there are only seven movie stories and im sure its probably the same for musicals.

for me, its all about caring about or forming a connection with the characters and being able to relate to them is what drops me into the story.

the books of shows ive loved the most in recent years <
