that times review couldnt be more wrong, this is one of the best shows you are going to see all year, sounds like a mother of two who got offended and couldnt seperate her personal life from the show she was watching
i too got the email from Davenport where he claims the $50 tickets are a big deal (because theater owners dont allow tickets that low) whut? I see so many shows offer $49 tickets, this is done by end of September and thats being generious
this is one of the best shows i saw last year, and fyi a transfer is in the cards for the spring "it wont find an audience on broadway" thats why its coming back for an encore run and most of the cast is going with it to LA, some of you folks drive me crazy sometime
yes it ran as long as it did but in the inbetween weve had Motown, Beautiful, Baby Its You, Trip of Love and half a dozen other shows that mined these songs and similar ones from the era, this will be lucky to still be running by the end of the year let alone 1000 performances, it was 75% full on a saturday matinee, and thats with them HEAVILY papering
saw this today, its fun and well sung but just like why, why does this production exist, the audience was mostly in their 70s/80s and very white and i just felt like couldnt the same resources have gone toward something new and exciting.
Even at a cut 90 minutes it feels too long, i wanted an actual story.
also awkward was an understudy going on for the first 30 minutes and then the guy he was in for appearing and retaking over the track and then the understudy awkwardly d
maybe they decided with all the surrounding construction it was best for all parties involved not to have a show going on, I worked at Newsies when they were putting up that hotel next door to the nederlander and it was a mess we would hear them during walk in but contractually they couldnt work while performences were going on, it was not a great setup

oh man this show hasnt even opened yet and already the producers are dragging The Go Go's out at curtain call for a surprise performance/press grab, this show is so beyond doomed folks.
The original production of Follies closed at almost a million dollar loss and Hal Prince scrapped a west coast engagement and a national tour, so stating it was a success on every level, that's super incorrect
