What is still to be announced for 2018-19 season ?  Oct 25 2018, 12:28:11 PM
A chilling revival of Holler If Ya Hear Me is going to be announced soon.

Next Live Musical Idea: Lady Gaga as the Narrator in Joseph  Oct 24 2018, 11:27:06 PM

Now THAT I would want to see!

Question about Phantom (Spoilers)  Oct 23 2018, 07:39:09 PM
Phantom4ever, please point out the “surprises” in either of those numbers that would be relevant to the issue the OP is asking about. If you can’t think of any, then maybe cut the unnecessary snark.

"Original" Musicals  Oct 23 2018, 01:53:59 PM
I don’t think a lot of people have problems with “movies becoming musicals” in and of itself so much as they have a problem with the fact that so many of these adaptations make no attempt to create a unique theatregoing experience and instead are lazy in putting a carbon copy of the film onstage, just with songs. Like j.garcia said, the show needs to justify its existence as an adaptation.

New Mary Poppins Returns Trailer!  Oct 23 2018, 08:44:13 AM

Melissa25 said: "Went to see A Star is Born this weekend and caught this trailer for the first time and actually shed a tear. Cannot wait to see this. Let’s start talking about our predictions for Rob Marshall winning thebest director oscar."

That Oscar is Bradley Cooper’s to lose.

Judi Dench signed on for CATS film  Oct 20 2018, 11:53:51 AM

CATS is a fun, creative show that really pushed the idea of family-friendly Broadway fare. (And I know some people on this board hate the idea of kids enjoying theatre, but I always think it’s great when people find their interests at a young age.)

That being said, this movie sounds like it’s going to suck. I don’t think CATS is something that can lend itself well to a non-stage environment, and these random changes they’re making are just plain dumb. Why do

But without the music, what's even the point?!

I hope not. The Deuteronomy for the first production, which was in London in 1981, was Brian Blessed. Very white and very loud.

Wicked Movie Cast (rumors, dreamcasts, etc.)  Oct 18 2018, 12:41:34 AM
They could definitely cast unknowns in the two leads and pick stars for most of the supporting cast. I don't see any reason to force a bad fit with Anna Kendrick or Ariana Grande.

Cody Simpson to make Broadway debut in Anastasia as Dmitry  Oct 18 2018, 12:25:37 AM
Stan Twitter is just being obnoxious at this point. Cody Simpson hasn't even done anything to warrant anger, and yet these kids are trying to make it sound like it's some huge scandal that led to him being cast. Yeah, Zach was probably let go, but that's the unfortunate nature of show business. If you're not packing in the seats, then someone has to take your place.

I was just about to say the same thing. I wonder if such a revival would be eligible for “Best Revival,” or if it would be considered a different show from the original Broadway production.

Lol, this is trending on Twitter right now.

Riedel on revival talk for ALW's Song and Dance  Sep 28 2018, 06:56:38 PM

Justin D said: "Does this show really have a market in today's theatre world. Not to mention its about a woman chasing after different men to 'complete' her life. I just dont see this working in this time period."

Yeah, STRONG women don’t want romance! Romance is a product of the Patriarchy! Romance just isn’t PC anymore!

New Mary Poppins Returns Trailer!  Sep 17 2018, 05:38:30 PM
If anything, I'm more worried that they may have unintentionally copied Nanny McPhee with the whole "nanny comes to save everyone after mother's death leaves the family in shambles" plot.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS closing Sept.16  Sep 17 2018, 02:01:30 PM
Surely “Best Direction” would be judging by direction alone, no? If you want to say SpongeBob “as a show” was a mess, then that would be the argument for why it didn’t win Best Musical, not Direction.

Ryan McCartan is Wicked's Next Fiyero  Sep 13 2018, 10:52:53 AM

^ You might want to go tell that to the kiddos over on Twitter.

Heathers West End  Sep 6 2018, 03:56:36 PM
Maybe you shouldn’t ask for people to share their thoughts on the show if you only want to hear opinions that align exactly with yours. So. :) :)
