2019-2020 Touring Season  Feb 26 2019, 03:08:19 PM

Thanks for weighing in, trekkygurl! I did find it hard to believe Broadway in Atlanta would require renewing subscribers to purchase a show they had just seen. Making "Hamilton" available to them as an add-on is one thing... that would be a perk of subscribing; glad you joined here to clarify!

2019-2020 Touring Season  Feb 26 2019, 01:37:27 PM

Mike Barrett said: "Easy way for people to purchase to entire package, so more $$$."

Well yes, that is the obvious answer. But most Subscription Series don't require subscribers to have to buy the same show two seasons in a row (or more), unless there is an opt-out or switch-a-show option, which Boston only offered once or twice.

2019-2020 Touring Season  Feb 26 2019, 01:15:28 PM

I am surprised that "Hamilton" is part of Atlanta's subscriber season, and not an add-on, given that it already played there.

Largest theaters that regularly host touring productions  Jan 28 2019, 10:22:20 AM

Mike Barrett said: "Do they rent it for The Illusinits and Kinky Boots this spring as well? Theres no overlap then, wasn't sure if the Emerson Colonial booked those shows, then partnered with broadway in Boston or what."

You're forgetting that Boston Ballet utilizes the Opera House as well. There is an overlap during those times... with Boston Ballet programming: "Full on Forsythe" from Mar. 7-17 and "Cinderella" from May 10 - Ju

Largest theaters that regularly host touring productions  Jan 28 2019, 09:49:18 AM

Mike Barrett said:  I know they won't do many shows there due to the complaints about the legroom, but its such a great and intimate theatre, I wish the Opera House and Colonial would split the amount of shows a season."

Complaints about legroom isn't why Broadway in Boston doesn't utilize the Colonial; they simply don't operate/manage the facility anymore and have nothing to do with its programming. The only time Broadway in Boston will have shows at

Oddly enough... re. the Broward Center's 2019/2020 lineup, on the 'Bandstand' show description page, the background image is actually of 'The Band's Visit' - which isn't even on the schedule. Ooops!

Broward Center/Bandstand

EDIT - Someone must have clued them in; looks to be in the process of being fixed. The background is blank now.

Patti's At It Again!  Oct 11 2018, 11:26:27 AM

Oh, totally agree, haterobics; she's most certainly answering interviewers' questions. But she could easily take her "ballsiness" in a different direction and respond "Oh, I've talked about X to death; moving on."  That would be unpredictable. She seems content with the re-hashing.

Patti's At It Again!  Oct 11 2018, 11:08:11 AM

At least Elaine Stritch was unpredictable. Patti LuPone seems to rant about the same things/people, which gets old to me. I'm all for her speaking her mind, but I'd love to hear what she has to say on other topics.

Tootsie - Chicago tryout  Sep 26 2018, 07:47:34 AM

BalconyClub-- so many people here have said that the ending/'Big Reveal' is still a let-down. You've probably seen the show most; have you noticed anything at all that this is being worked on? It would be unfortunate if the creative team had this amazing show with a weak ending.

Collins / Evans  Aug 4 2018, 03:20:59 PM

I saw "Legends" when it played the Shubert Theater in Boston. We didn't go in expecting much, and ended up really having fun. It was fluff, but somewhat of an event given the two stars. I always enjoyed Joan Collins, but it was a treat seeing her live on stage. You could instantly tell she was the stronger of the two and had the theatrical chops: great comedic timing, natural stage presence, etc. (I would have loved to have seen her in the Carol Burnett role in London's re-w

Wait Until Dark 1998 Revival and Question  Aug 2 2018, 08:21:43 AM

Now this post takes me back! I saw this production of "Wait Until Dark" when it had it's pre-Broadway tryout at the Wilbur Theater (back in the day when the Wilbur was an actual theatrical venue - probably the most perfect space for plays). With Tarantino and Tomei attached, it was actually a sell-out. I remember I saw it towards the end of the run and they had run out of actual Playbills (not anticipating the near-capacity crowds), so they were handing out photocopied
