Since we're on the topic, my copy of the remastered American Premiere Recording is botched. Some tracks have sound effects like crickets or rain etc. that are supposed to stop after the action transitions from exterior to interior scenes and they don't stop. I wonder why the Glenn Close and Petula Clark Sunset Boulevard EPs were released but not the Betty Buckley one. I think there were also two national tour EPs from the first national US tour and a later UK tour.
The actual Sunset Suite from the Glenn Close EP is better than the one cobbled together on the recent Unmasked compilation. I think it includes the entr'acte and the music that was ultimately used as exit music? Worth a listen. I think the symphonic suite on the Michael Ball EP may be the same recording without the entr'acte.
It think it just depends on who's willing to throw their money away. Granted, as you said, it'll probably have a life beyond Broadway but someone still has to pay for the album.
A Grand Hotel revival sounds far more exciting. Moulin Rouge looks impressive but they lost my interest when they started cutting songs from the movie.

I'm stunned they have actors in full costume and life jackets treading water and jumping from the scaffolding into the water. I know they're acting and hopefully safety precautions are in place but I feel as though I'd be uncomfortable watching that. It's one thing to see it in the movie and know the actors were being looked after. It's another to see it live. Not to mention they're recreating a scenario that people actually lived through and did not survive. I

Looked pretty fun and polished to me for a weekend concert. The letters would irritate me in a full production but it seemed to work well for a concert. The way they moved to set up different scenes with the scenery inside was clever.

I’m enjoying the cast album immensely. The elaborate scenery and pyrotechnic effects also look like something I’d enjoy. I don’t mind if the plot is a little out there. It almost wouldn’t be Steinman if it was any other way. I may look into seeing the tour in LA.
And now that Bat Out of Hell seems to be such a success, is it too much to ask to get a second try at Vampires here in the US?
