Can HS students lottery w/o an ID  Aug 3 2018, 03:58:33 PM

Multiple teenagers won the Wicked in person lotto a few days ago without ID and all were denied the tickets and turned away. It was kind of sad.

Harry Potter #KeepTheSecrets SPOILER thread  Aug 1 2018, 08:34:25 AM
This thread was created to celebrate this show, not to exploit it. Why anyone is taking personal offense to it is beyond me.

Everything discussed in this thread so far has already been widely discussed throughout the internet, and on this site. I understand people’s problems with putting it in one place. But that place is on a Broadway diehard message-board, clearly marked SPOILER. We just want to discuss the show and share our experiences.

I understand theatre is a different

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Seating/Pricing Thread  Jul 30 2018, 03:49:12 PM

Is there a Cursed Child Spoiler thread? That actually may be really fun for those of us who have seen it to have a space where we can freely talk about any aspect of the show we want and relive the magic!

Riedel on Head Over Heels being on thin ice  Jul 28 2018, 12:30:12 PM
Remember during Bright Star when Steve Martin would play in the Act 2 opener? Could they restage the title number at the start of act 2 to incorporate the actual Go-Gos playing?

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Seating/Pricing Thread  Jul 27 2018, 01:05:10 AM
I’ve seen the show on all levels, and my favorite experiences are always front orchestra, which include the first time I saw it. While the mezz and balcony give you an awesome view, there is nothing like being completely immersed in this show.

Has anyone seen The House That Will Not Stand at NYTW yet?  Jul 26 2018, 10:20:29 AM

If I'm being totally honest, I see almost everything NYTW does. But after Light Shining in Buckinghamshire, I'm truly in no rush to return any time soon unless something gets raves.

I finally booked my flight to NYC from December 12to 16... and I am DYING to see Cursed Child.I had originally ruled it out as a possibility because I thought it would be completely sold out, but I'm noticing that tickets are apparently still available, and also noticed on this thread that some tickets sell for cheaper in about a month's window before a performance... now I also understand that the dates of my trip are much busier for

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 7/22/18  Jul 24 2018, 05:04:56 PM

^ I'm assuming the association with Jujamcyn or Jordan Roth is what makes the Hirschfeld more valuable, rather than a Shubert house like the Winter Garden.

Also, let's not forget there were multiple claims that Jujamcyn really wanted Curse Child in the Hirschfeld. Apparently they have a history of being a little delirious about cramming spectacles into that house.

HAIR LIVE! To Air On NBC Spring 2019  Jul 24 2018, 02:42:03 PM

My immediate reaction is that this doesn't look good for a Jagged Little Pill broadway transfer, unless it happens in February. These TV programs take months to prep for, and I highly doubt Paulus could do double duty. Didn't someone say they heard she was keeping her schedule clear? Wonder if JLP fell through, or Hair was too good to pass up?

re: Bad usher/ theatre employee stories?  Jul 20 2018, 06:51:45 PM
For most theaters, at least in NYC, empty seats are not a big deal in the scheme of everything else going on. Especially after intermission, if a seat is empty, it’s fair game. That’s the blunt way of saying it, and I know most members on here HATE this discussion. But empty seats are not the huge deal to ushers that people think they are. I’ve never been denied a seat when asked to move at intermission. That usher was probably thrilled they made some money off of it when if the patron had asked

Of all the musicals to adapt to the screen. They chose...this? Mildly infuriating.

TDF vs Rush for Head Over Heels  Jul 18 2018, 09:05:19 PM
My rush seat was mid balcony all the way on the side. Would’ve much rather taken my chances with TDF if rush is either front row or crappy balcony seats.

The Official TDF Thread  Jul 9 2018, 11:01:00 AM

At least the first 3 rows of the center mezz were TDF last night, too! Thanks Schoenfeld box office for a great night! They usually put TDF in last row orch (2x for the Humans) or rear mezz (CFA previews), so it was a really nice surprise!

THIS AIN'T NO DISCO thread  Jul 8 2018, 04:40:07 PM
Saw the matinee today and overall would say I loved it, especially compared to other new musicals I’ve seen lately like Head Over Heels. It is extremely stylized and not for everyone, but the music, design, and performances are outstanding. It’s a mess, but I think about 50% of that is intentional.

There’s no question about the state of the book. It’s all over the place, and ideas and plots they’re trying to get across are not landing. A lot happens in the show and it’s hard to keep tra

The Official TDF Thread  Jul 6 2018, 04:21:45 PM

Will someone please post if they see Ivo Van Hove's "The Damned" at the Armory posted? It is so goddamn expensive, I can't imagine paying full price.

Girls & Boys - Minetta Lane  Jul 4 2018, 09:06:41 PM
Absolutely adored this the other night. I was fully engaged and on the edge of my seat the entire time. The play itself would be an awesome read I imagine, but seeing Carey Mulligan perform it the way she does is really magnificent. As someone who sees multiple shows a week, this is absolutely one I won’t soon forget. It’s not a tour-de-force experience, but it’s not one that calls for it. The control by everyone involved - writer, director, stage crew, performer - is so subtle, and so meticulou

Heathers to the West End  Jul 4 2018, 05:22:06 PM
That’s so cool. I’m so insanely jealous.

:O  Jul 1 2018, 10:42:16 AM
^ very rarely. Usually when a Playbill updates, it is less about the show rebranding and more about the show cutting costs and making sure the Playbill design works in color. People can say whatever they’d like, but the new Playbill cover is being used in color on buses and subway ads all over nyc right now, so there’s no reason it couldn’t have been in color on the Playbill. The show may not be in financial trouble, but I am confident that making the Playbill b&w was fueled by a financial choic
