BE MORE CHILL (Broadway) Reviews  Mar 10 2019, 10:19:04 PM

The fact that The Prom was received better than this literally boggles my mind

BE MORE CHILL (Broadway) Previews  Mar 10 2019, 12:29:52 AM

This board's determination to bring down Be More Chill is just fascinating to me. You want to talk about bad lyrics - have you listened to The Prom? It's a matter of taste. If it's not for you, it's not for you.

Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus Previews  Mar 9 2019, 03:32:57 PM

Re: movement -

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the best current example of movement on stage. While not directly choreography, the way actors move through space in a heightened, almost ethereal way is what movement achieves.

Cursed Child Trailer for example.

Can someone please discuss the concept behind this production?  Mar 4 2019, 11:26:45 PM

BE MORE CHILL (Broadway) Previews  Mar 3 2019, 09:46:55 PM
I can’t imagine a scenario where George doesn’t return to the show by Wednesday in order to be reviewed & open the show to be Tony eligible.

George is an integral part of the Joe Iconis family, and him parting with the show before his contract is up will never, ever happen. It’s a business, and Troy is an understudy being paid to do his job. I love Troy and am so glad he’s getting the attention, but he’s not going to become Michael full time anytime soon. At least, contractually that i

Reviews are in and shockingly, not great. All praise the new MCC space and the choreography, but all note there is no future for this show.

Oscars set - the real host  Feb 26 2019, 08:18:12 AM

TMZ and some other outlets are running stories this morning about the set and why it looked like Trumps hair. Between that, and the terrifying blood red Oscar statue army on stage, I’d say this was a huge swing and a miss. Well intentioned, but poorly executed. Looked like a cliff side, I half expected Alex from Free Solo to climb it.

Your view is going to be pretty partial, as you’re going to miss whatever is happening upstage on your side of the stage. I’d say it’s a lose/lose scenario, but I’d pick to sit on h

Isn't the designofthis show--- and really, all the others like it --- to scuttle the very notion of "losers?"”

Totally see where you’re coming from, but I’d argue no. It’s not like Mean Girls where everyone magically becomes “stars” at the e

BE MORE CHILL (Broadway) Previews  Feb 24 2019, 01:06:06 AM

While I don't think there will ever be a positive force of love and support for Be More Chill on the boards here, but I absolutely loved the show tonight.

George was on and in perfect voice. The set, costumes, and performances have all been wonderfully updated to fit a Broadway scale. I'm shocked at how well Will Roland has grown into the role, as I thought he was way too over-the-top and out of place at Signature. The show sits great in th

So...is Harry Potter better in part 2?  Feb 20 2019, 08:49:37 PM

Having seen the show many, many times - here is my ranking in order of preference:

1. Part 2, Act 1

2. Part 2, Act 2

3. Part 1, Act 2

4. Part 1, Act 1

Hope you returned. I love the show a lot, and am a massive fan of the series. It is canon, if that helps ease your frustration.

Alice By Heart (PREVIEWS)  Feb 18 2019, 02:03:25 PM

mariel9 said: "There was an insert in the playbill yesterday that gave a 1-2 sentence description of each character. I wish I'd noticed it before the show because it really would've helped with the "who the hell is the duchess" moments. I liked the show a lot. The book is kind of a mess, but entertaining and more moving than I was expecting."

I cannot believe that instead of fixing the atrocious book, they actually settled to just

Braniff Forever said: "How common isi it for the creative team to cut or add songs in previews? Do you think they are aware that most people think the show is too long?"

I've found it's pretty rare for shows to make extensive changes in previews. It's more of fine-tuning. Besides time restraints, getting a universal agreement to cut things/kill your darlings is a tough thing. I imagine especially at BMC, where they're such a tight-knit group, I d

We Are Tigers  Feb 17 2019, 07:30:07 PM

(It's technically called We Are The Tigers)

Caught it this past week - absolutely loved it. Especially having seen Alice By Heart & Superhero the week prior, I was so relieved to see something genuinely good. The cast, book, and score are top notch, and it's a hell of a good time. With a bigger production budget, I think this show could really be a hit. It felt a lot like the brain child of Heathers & Bring It On, for reasons both o

Oklahoma transferring to Circle in the Square...  Feb 17 2019, 12:25:42 PM

BwayinVan said: "I've never seen Oklahoma and am ashamed to say I know NOTHING about the story. Usually traditional old school musicals don't appeal to me but this seems like it has a modern spin?"

This production was made for you. The Creative Team took a look at the show as if it was a brand new musical, and took off from there. Sure, the style of some of the songs may be old-timey, but there is so much new energy, life, and soul, it feels lik

DADDY previews (New Group/Vineyard co production at Signature)  Feb 14 2019, 12:15:47 AM

I was there tonight! There's a lot to digest here.

For a first preview, it was excellent. The cast seemed very comfortable in their roles and everything went off without a hitch - remarkable, considering the show is 3 hours on the nose including two 10-minute intermissions.

Jeremy O. Harris' excellent reputation proceeds him, and he doesn't disappoint - there is indeed extended periods of full frontal nudity among

We Are The Tigers - New Off Broadway Musical  Feb 11 2019, 08:52:24 AM

Didn't see a thread on this, but I caught We Are The Tigers this weekend at Theater 80. I really, really enjoyed it. Lauren Zakrin is great, as is the entire ensemble cast. It was very The Wolves meets Heathers/Mean Girls.

Highly recommend checking it out, most platforms have it for real cheap during previews. Been listening to this song on repeat since: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ltx

ANASTASIA Sets March 31st Closing Date  Feb 5 2019, 08:11:00 PM
Genuinely can’t remember a time I was more bored in a theater than when I saw this. Sad for the cast and crew, but 2 years is a phenomenal run and I’m sure this show will make endless amount of money in all types of productions.
