He’s quickly become one of my favorites and I will see him in anything. He’s one of our true triple threats. His American Songbook concert last week was terrific, especially his duet/tap number with Clyde Alves. I wish he did more longer running things these days but I don’t feel like his talents fit a lot of the newer musicals.

While The Ferryman is the best of the bunch, It’ll be playing until July (at least) and I don’t think Torch Song, which sadly closes soon, is to be missed.

I feel like it ended at about 4:15 yesterday but the intermission ran long because of Dove being replaced.

I was at yesterday’s matinee and Dove was replaced midperformance! Her understudy, Katie Goffman took over and I have to say, I think I peferred her performance more! Dove looks younger than everyone else and it’s kind of distracting.
The rest of cast is fine. Nobody is really given a great opportunity to shine but everyone is serviceable.
As for the show itself, it’s fun but feels slapped together. It follows about 95% of the movie but I wish they had just written a new score.

A friend was at the invited dress last night and said Zimmerman was out.

Yes, I was there last night and they definitely used “lock her up” at the end of the second act.
Anyway this is Brecht after all, so it’s not the easiest show to sit through but I think I ultimately liked it. Raul is terrific. It’s one of the better things CSC has done in recent years.
